*Guess we can all see how this truly plays out now!*
Charles III will become immortal and conquer the world.
One thing the movie didn't predict was that UK has a female PM when the Queen passed.
The great Shakespearean tragedy of the play is that Charles is more or less morally and rightfully justified in his aims, but is undermined by his conniving children and the public's trust of Parliament over he when he dissolves it in order to prevent an unjust law from being passed. This is the great point of divergence of the work, as I'm pretty sure Charles could have the House of Commons not only all sacked but shipped to Pitcairn Island and the public would frankly build him a statue made of gold at this point.
There will be riots because of huge inflation, & career politicians will try to keep their jobs, thus compelling the Crown to act.
*RIP Queen Elizabeth the II (1926-2022)*
Long Live The King
Tim Piggott-Smith. What a wonderful actor. He could switch from the bumbling fop (as in Blackadder) to a truly terrifying villian (see The Vice, among others) just like that, and be utterly convincing no matter what the role. One of the greats, RIP.
How ironic that the Queen outlived the actor who portrayed Charles in this.
We always hoped her out living Charles
@@briju0953 Now Charles has finally outlived her.
@@irishredcoat6825 Fate
RIP Tim-Piggott-Smith
I guess this is happening now.
Having it so that the King meets with the PM as well as the leader of the opposition every week (as in this film and the play) does sound like a good idea in real life.
Long live the King
RIP Queen Elizabeth
And Charles III has turned out just fine
Aged like fine wine
Lmaooo the way I thought this was recent why is this in my recommended 🤧😬💀
RIP Tim Piggot-Smith
Suddenly remembered this when I saw that the Queen just passed
I have been waiting for this to make a comeback
And happens in real life 😉
Everyone reading this, the queen has now passed on recently. Charles is now finally king of England
Yes it's different feeling watching this movie after The Queen's death
@@ladyarthuria I bet it's gonna be like the film here
We all have internet bro we all know...
yup...he is evillllllll
King of the UK, not England
I was fortunate enough to watch Tim Piggot-Smith play this at the Almeida when it was first staged. Fantastic show.
7Sept2022, Her majesty the Queen passes, and her son keeps his first name as his titular: King Charles III.
The Queen is dead, God rest her soul. Long live the King, God save him.
Did you cheer when he dissolved parliament?
I saw it too and honestly it’s the best play I’ve ever seen. I know it was controversial in many respects but just as a play it was so enthralling.
@@richardbourton4523 Why was it controversial? I watched the film and thought it was very good.
@@Dan_1348 I don’t remember the specifics tbh but I think it was a combo of the queen still being alive at the time and the implication of Charles not doing the right thing as king and causing civil strife immediately. There may have been elements of Kate being portrayed as a little bit Machiavellian, predicting Harry would leave the monarchy with a ‘commoner’ before that actually happened and stuff. I think the main response was that it maybe wasn’t in best taste but I loved it, as I say, best play I’ve ever seen in person.
get ready people its happening
Really liked the concept of the film. I would have liked a series format better. And what a bummer that the actor that played Charles is dead
Long live the King
so the play is finally going on the small screen then?! i can't tell how happy i am.
Glad to hear they have the original music
Do you know what the music is?
DrWhopotte It was specially composed by Jocelyn Pook for the play (though the Requiem was different)
I just wish they'd release a soundtrack. As indoctrinating as this film adaptation was that piece of music where Charles addresses the camera is divine
DrWhopotte same, the music used was great, im trying to find it😂
The Joker www.jocelynpook.com/king-charles-iii/
This was amazing , through when our beloved QE2 leaves this mortal coil I don’t relish the thought of that lot taking charge
For me, he did the right thing...😁
Which lot?
There is something more appealing and majestic to have a Queen than a king.
Get used to it now
Well let's see how things play out now..... Gods save the King!
this was so good
0:45 - King Charles III goes Richard III in this scene and breaks the four wall and talk to the spectators about his evil plans. ;)
How is he evil!?
wow, now this is reality. RIP QE2
when he spoke to the Camera. I remember sir Laurence Olivier's Movie Richard III haha
I love how it’s all in iambic pentameter
"Such equal billing was a joy when Prince -
To share the stage did spread attention out.
But now I’ll rise to how things have to be.
The Queen is dead. Long live the King. That’s me."
Love it.
Looks interesting!
Why can't I watch this in Australia? It looks very intriguing.

long live the king. hope it doesn't play out like the movie
I’m in Australia, where am I able to watch this in full. Please, this just looks amazing!
Allie Niner i was able to buy it here on RUclips, though im not sure if it’s available to buy in Australia. it’s worth a check though!
7Sept2022, Her majesty the Queen passes, and her son keeps his first name as his titular: King Charles III.
The Queen is dead, God rest her soul. Long live the King, God save him.
I'm also from Australia, and I am hoping Australia will now have greater freedom to lean further away from stupid old British sentiments and towards the left!
@言行一致 Well he isn’t, and because of Australia’s inferior government, my country is simply a toy that can be exploited by American economic imperialism and stupid British ideas. The old ways are over, and Australia should be given a chance to become an economic powerhouse itself.
House of cards meets the king's speech
Someone plz share a link to where I can watch the entire thing.
well they clearly knew it was gonna happen
What is the music in the last of it ??
It's so weird, seeing this play almost come true
There was a female prime minister when Elizabeth died
Only 45 days as UK PM
Similar talking to the camera technique as House of Cards.
Since the play is written in iambic pentameter, more Shakespeare than House of Cards...
I saw the play at Canterbury with Robert Powell in the title role and agree about the likeness to Shakespeare. My comment was about the TV series and it's similarity in style to the original House of Cards with Ian Richardson.
Agreed. I was so fortunate to see Tim Pigott-Smith on Broadway in this. And wasn't Richardson fabulous in House of Cards? The pale American copy leaves me bored.
Ian Richardson was excellent in House of Cards. As he was in most things he appeared in. I much prefer the original series as well. It was broadcast at a most opportune period just when the Conservative party were having a leadership election.
c knott it's called breaking the 4th wall
PM was Liss Truz.. 🤣
Laurence olivier "Richard III" vibe😂😂
The soundtrack hasn't been released for this version, only for the play D;
i am disparately looking for it
Queen Elizabeth II is dead, long live King Charles III
King Charles really can dissolve parliament, holy cow!
In theory, but not in practice
0:14, hey it's the guy from the Fifth Element.
The film is well done, has a good photograph, but the Duchess of Cambridge is mainly presented in a cartoon and disgusting way. Despite having positive and interesting points, the film has a militant anti-monarchist tone that is irritating.
I'm not even English or British and I'm a republican but LONG LIVE HER MAJESTY ELIZABETH THE II
Now she's dead. RIP the Queen
The queen is dead long live the king
So house of cards copied the British house of cards and now King Charles III copies house of card
Deadly Lizard144 precisely
And Now Real Life copies King Charles III.
Yeah right! The real old Charlie wouldn’t be able to resist keeping his nose out politics
This will not happen to William V
It has been removed from Britbox since Charles became King. Undemocratic as far as I'm concerned
try George V11 not Charles lll
+Gwyn Williams Seems to me that I've heard the same thing, that Charles is planning on using George VII as his "reigning" name (I'm sure there's a proper term for it, but you get the idea. 🙂).
However, for the purposes of this play, _King Charles III_ pretty much summarizes it. People would immediately realize that it's a play about when Charles finally becomes the King. A lot of people wouldn't necessarily make that same connection if the play was titled, _King George VII_ .
I think its to do with the fact that king Charles 1 had is head cut off and doesn't want to use is name. Anyway your right it's just TV
Yes, the Royal Family is very superstitious I also heard that even though King Arther can be resonated the ancient Celtic King, they still wouldn't name their offspring Arther for their first name because an hair bearing the same name died pre-maturely in the 12 century, I think. And they wouldn't name their heirs James because of the Stuarts.
+Luka Yu The Queen's youngest grandchild is named James. But, then again, the likelihood of him inheriting the throne is very, very slim (he's currently tenth in line, I believe).
Oh, i completely forgot. For some weird reason, I always forgot James and Zara, may be because they are not prince and princess?
The movie 🍿🎥 predicted the future, Rest in Peace Queen 👑 Elizabeth II God save the King 👑💖💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕 Go HUG someone today IF they're been vaccinated or not 🚫 Blessings and Hugs 💖💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕!
Well Mr Bartlett, let’s see if you’re right…
Hoping that a sequel is made where Harry reconciles with his girlfriend, gets married, has two bi-racial children, gives up Royality, and moves to the U.S.- causing the first crisis of King William & Queen Kate's reign.
Why would that be a crisis? Is it a crime to take care of yourself?
@@HarryJamesPotter7 He caused a crisis by doing the most American thing he could do-writing a tell-all book about his life.
Today its true 😍
Das me
Believe or not, this actor has more a king looking figure than the true King Charles III
🙄Because he was chosen to act for a particular role.
The King doesn’t need to look majestic, it is majestic in its own rights.👑
@@almatirkey7748Ohh, I did not know that.🥴😆😄
Lets hope not
British House of Cards
You realize the Netflix House of Cards is an adaptation of the original British one?
He is a Greek King that will rule Britain.
+Chaudhry Rajinder Nijjhar Jatt Uh, no. I'm not an expert in British nationality law, but I would imagine that a child born on British soil to two parents who were British citizens when he was born would be British himself.
However, if you're referencing genealogy rather than citizenship, my response is still, "Uh, no." Despite having started out his life as a Greek prince, Prince Philip is of primarily German and Danish ancestry.
Tell me about his surnames please. Why he changed them?
+Chaudhry Rajinder Nijjhar Jatt Who? Prince Philip? If it's him you're referring to, my understanding is that, being a prince, he never had what you and I would consider a surname. However, when he became a naturalized British citizen before his marriage to then Princess Elizabeth, he renounced his Greek titles and had to adopt a standard surname. He chose Mountbatten because it was the surname of his closest relative in the UK.
You cannot change the surname or father. But we leave it here. It is minor.
Chaudhry Rajinder Nijjhar Jatt If Greek = a Schleswig-Holsteiner with a former Greek title, then yes, he's Greek.
British version of house of cards
except house of cards was originally a british tv show in the first place
OK so American observer over here. Am I to assume that this is a fictitious version of Charles or are we dealing with a completely fictitious character altogether who happens to be named Charles. And is this a comedy or a house of cards type deal? Cause I’m trying to get a feel for it.
They have adapted Shakespeare to modern context, current politics & the role of characters of the current royals.
🤣good luck england!!!never forget diana
Bollocks
but i don,t believe anything thats in this movie of how King Charles the third was force by the Prince of wales William to give up the throne so that he may become King which i believe King Charles the Third would never ever do that he has been waiting a lifetime to become King there is no truth in this Movie for it will never never even happen to him,
The thing is that the Prime Minister at the time of the Queen's passing is a female 😂
Just like cartoon Simpsons give future events said Donald trump will be president this was a prophetic event...fir Charles arriving on throne I don't think he will last long
How long do you think he’ll last then?
It seems so anti-Charles. I think Prince Charles is a really nice guy and will make a great king.
I liked Charles more than any of the others in this piece of garbage. I think he went a bit far, but as I think the liberty of press is essential I fully rooted for him. O and why can't parliament just strip Charles temporarily of his powers just like Luxembourg did in 2008 to get a euthanasia bill signed?
waterdrager93 because the parliament governs in the name of the king
My God! Are you calling Diana's murderer a nice guy?
Patriotic Brit It’s actually pretty pro-Charles
Its surprisingly pro Charles, he's blocking a bill of censorship that the government seems hell bent on passing
1st
The actor who is playing a Charles doesn't look like him at all.
Daniel Sanderson like trump
Neither does the actor playing Theresa May xD
So? You really can't get past that for the sake of a good actor portraying the essence of a character as apposed to being a look-alike?
Tacky and in bad taste.
Nope.
