These two grew on me but Claire Foy has a special place in my heart.
And Matt Smith. I completely agree though. First 3 episodes I felt a little disconnected, but then I started to really get pulled back in again, but Matt and Claire were truly amazing

@@Magucci13 The Aberfan episode snapped me out of the disconnect I was feeling. That was such a powerful event and episode that it endeared me to them quickly.
But she could not play the Queen at 55!
Tobias is hands down the best Prince Phillip ever. The mannerisms, the way he holds his head and moves his mouth...extraordinary!

If you doubt Tobias Menzies' capabilities to carry the role of Prince Phillip , go and watch him in the Outlander, he played such a heavy character and to witness him in the Crown just proves his versatility and talent, well done Tobias !
He was amazing in Rome. His portrayal of Brutus broke my heart. Such a complex intense characterization. A brilliant actor!

He was amazing in Outlander.... as Black Jack Randall I loved to HATE him! It was hard for me to even like Frank Randall once Claire had traveled through the stones and encountered the evil Black Jack. I couldn't shake the sadism I had seen in his face as Jack. Tobias is one incredibly talented and versatile actor!
He was my favorite actor in Outlander. Brilliant performance in every scene!

I've never found Tobias Menzies to be attractive before but when I watched the show and saw him as Prince Philip everything changed. He's got such an attractive face to me now.

Tobias looks about a decade younger than he does in The Crown. He plays a better role in playing HRH Duke of Edinburgh,, than Matt Smith in the frst two seasons of the Crown. Its was very nicest to be hearing them speaking in their British accents.

Hadn’t heard of Tobias before season three, but he’s really, really good.
Tobias was brilliant as 2 characters in the series Outlander . One character BJR was creepy but looking at him play Phillip Ive forgotten BJR completely.
Don’t forget his turn in Rome. Definitely check him out in that.

Olivia has a lovely personality. Haven't seen the crown, but hope they've shown the loveliness, humility and Christian, her Majesty is. Both our grandparents just adored her and her family.Her mother and father were total heroes in WW2.

We don’t really get much out of your interview questions. It’s just let them go with what ever they want to say. Which is great because Olivia and Tobias are who we’re really listening to.

In the very last episode of this show however many seasons there may be I hope all the actresses who play the queen, Claire, Olivia, Imelda (and presumably a fourth one Imelda's not old) all have scenes as flashbacks in some way
Great idea.
All wonderful actors, however there really should have been continuity, perhaps a couple of episodes with Claire and Matt getting older and then bring this in, is too much of a gap. It was hard to sort of accept the huge change!

I believe the Queen loved season 1. I seem to remember articles about it. But after season 2 had the Charles at school stuff with Philip depicted as treating him like he did, she "was not amused" because it was made up, and stopped watching the show. I HIGHLY doubt any of them watched season 3.
I heard somewhere that she watches it with Prince Edward's wife, Sophie, but that may very well be false....
