Another really honest answer is that they are both handsome but atypically so, and directors often pick more "interesting" looking actors to play period roles. In addition, they are both phenomenal actors, and it takes a good deal of gravitas to pull off many of the roles they have filled.
Just binge watched it on Stan (Australia). Riveting. One of the best things on screen I've ever seen. The number of actors right across who did an astounding job is gobsmacking. And these two absolutely rule. Incredible cinematic achievement all round. 💖💖
AMAZING acting!!! I was blown away by the performance of the team. Hope to see Messrs. Harris, Menzies and Hinds in any production again, they obviously create synergies by their huge compatible talent. Thanks!
@@JayzsMr I'm working through his entire filmography where available on streaming or hiring. I can't get enough of Jared's screen work. His dad, the great unique Richard Harris would have glowed with pride. Talk about the apple not falling far from the tree. And what a humble, sweet human being he is, always supporting colleagues not trying to undermine them like some Hollywood "stars". A great artist and gentleman. One just can't fake any of that ❤
This is an outstanding series, with amazing acting by the whole crew. This is a truly haunting story of what these people had to endure, when pushed to the edge.
I love the terror like Ciarán Hinds, Jared Harris and Tobias Menzies and the other great actor that been in the show did a great job of making the show acting off a true story that I know what happen to all of the people in the HMS terror and HMS Erebus like making a little bit true of what happen then adding the monsters called the tunnbaq very well done great job to the actors
I first saw Jared Harris in William Golding’s ‘To the ends of the earth’ in the late 90’s, which too was a 19th century nautical adventure. It was excellent and it was pretty obvious then that we’d be seeing more of him.
The acting of Jared Harris in The Terror was just stupid. I mean that as an absolute compliment. Harris goes off to a level most actors never even come close to. It's ridiculous how high above the rest of the cast he was, playing his role brilliantly.
Great how they used the real names of the real crew right down to the lower classes ...I wonder if Cornelius hickey was as bad as he was portrayed..just a name on the crews manifest...no other info on the guy. Except He was the ships caulker.
@@onetwothreefourfive12345 non-Brit and non-American here. IMHO, I think the British actors just outclass the American ones, apart from very few exceptions (Meryl Streep is the first to spring to my mind).
I loved everything about it. The ensemble and their arcs, really great examples of positive masculinity as well as the toxic side on show. The dark gothiness, the black uniforms, the muted light. Subtle but sinister background noise throughout, the surreal landscape. Stoicism and honour versus moral standards slipping away. Heavy handed colonialism with a twist of the supernatural thrown in for good measure… Perfection!

What a pair of magnificent actors
The miniseries is some of the best cinema I've seen. Big shout out to the actors.

Whole cast did such an awesome job. Even the secondary characters had such developed personalities. Awesome stuff
This show felt heavy and of a different breed than most shows. Very well done.
"I have a period face" LOL I mean, it's weird but he's not wrong
The Terror is so brilliant!

Have you seen Rome (2005-2007)? Menzies as Brutus and Hinds as Caesar
@@JackAShepherd Seen. This was the first time these actors came to my attention. Definitely outstanding. Hope to see more cooperations of these three!
5:35-5:40 I didn't think it was possible to be more enamored with Tobias, but then he shows what an endearing, playful dork he can be. This man!
Jared Harris is fantastic in The Expanse. Where he's on screen, he's sooo charismatic and steals the show. I highly recommend that series.
He is also great in mad men and basically everywhere
i think you wanted to say Foundation...
@flaviuteodorescu4916 I haven't seen Foundation but now I know he's in it I'll definitely check it out

Timeless, Tobias. The word for your handsome and strong countenance is timeless, Love.

That ”brotherhood” scene...
2 great actors reaching the higher ranks of actors and I’m excited to see what they produce in the future!

We were spoiled rotten with such a great cast

Great show. Great acting. Great setting. This one will last.

Tobias and his handsome, period face were cast in The Honourable Woman, which was not period, but was excellent
Jarred Harris would be great as he lead in the biopic about Benny Hill.
Love these two! And the "Hickey" character you just love to hate!
Such a good baddy. Always smiling away!
Oh my. I am in love.
Great series. All actors were great.
The thumbnail looks like a pair of gay dads silently judging their daughter's new boyfriend
Bruh why is that so true. Menzies looks like he’s analysing for something wrong with him and Harris is just thinking “really???”
"if you like a bit of ice"... I'm IN!!
I will watch it cause the cast is incredible.

Hickey was not as bad as depicted, for starters the real hickey had a wife and I think a daughter
It certainly did need ...."....someone to break the ice..." :-)
Jared Harris was in the Expanse which is sci-fi...
Two more of Britain's great actors. Both far superior to most American character actors.
They're good actors but why do you feel the need to insult American actors? I'm British and I think both countries have equally great actors?
Canada here couldn't agree more

Lewis Thank you for saying this. Lots of wonderful Aussie and Canadian actors too!
Never really cared where the actor was from but strictly judge them on their talents.
I do like a bit of ice
But do they know about all the Fitzier fanart and fanfiction on tumblr/ao3?
Who cares when Mr Fitz is that hot.

Season 1 of The Terror was awesome
It moved a little slow but i did love the show
