When I watched Tobias’ performance, I wasn’t thinking of Matt’s acting. Not even Tobias’ acting. I though of Philip simply growing older. That’s how good his performance was... what an amazing casting...
Tobias is wonderful in whatever characters he’s portraying. He managed to make Prince Phillip human! The Prince has always come across strange! Tobias is a master at his craft!
Not HIM. The make up people had to age him. He is younger and the choice was to go older and make him look young, but they chose Tobias and he has to undergo the make up process. They all do. Wait until you see the video I did with Olivia. She just simply refused to answer the question. I take my hat off to him for all the different roles and the total openness and fun he met me with. I did a set visit in London which is how I know about the eyebrows. And my piece is - I think - gonna run in the Sunday times this week end. People have to understand that actors are portraying roles and change themselves accordingly. I hope you won't take offense and understand it is just part of the regular acting process to inhabit another person;) (PS - hope this answers any questions and THX so much for watching!)
Margaret Gardiner oh yes of course, i understand! I’m not bothered by it or anything, it was just something that i kept thinking of when watching. I love him as an actor too.Thank you for the reply though! And for the great interview
@@bente1005 Phew - good - smiles - I didn't want to introduce something you know. It was just cos we saw him in costume and then on a break that I noticed the eyebrows on that occasion
Massssssive fan of Tobias Menzies... Seems as though there are no roles he can't do justice to! I'd die happy if I could ever meet him🙄 and yes I know that won't happen 🙈
Lol, my grandmother would do those reverse questions, at meals. Apparently no one replied in the way Tobias mentioned. We’d just automatically passed whatever it was, her way.
@@MargaretGardinerUniverse Yes, she was. All of my friends, my siblings friends, and our cousins friends all called her by the same name we all did, within minutes of meeting her for the first time. :)
I don’t know maybe the lack of empathy comes from so many generations of living in a bubble! They come out like OC/ speaking as The Queen, she never cried or showed emotions before! She really didn’t know how! Kudos to Princess Diana for showing her sons the difference! I take my hat off to Prince Charles! How he could ever forget and forgive them for what they did to him! He has my respect!
Hello you wonderful Margaret Gardiner....I'm a bit late to this whole interview but in reading the comments I read with interest your own story in one of the replies to a rather rude comment...I think that the way you questioned Tobias with the intention to make him smile speaks volumes about who you are despite what may have happened in your life...keep shining your light into a world that seems intent on loving the darkness...also just as a precedent to cats being called "pigeon" a very long time ago there was a cartoon character Pepe Le Pew and he fell in love with a black and white cat mistaking her for a female skunk...he is constantly chasing this poor cat...and says things like( imagine a French accent now)"Where are you my little pigeon" ...its very funny and sweet...and Pepe is very misguided...anyways just a fun fact...Joyous holidays to you and your family.!!!!
Ah okay. I know that reference but his fan group also call ourselves pigeons (it's a long story, but it was pre-cat) so we take it as a compliment, nonetheless. Thank you!
Hello, I'm not an English speaker, I'd like to know if he has referred to his cat as a "she", because that's I heard at the end of the interview. Thank you in advanced. Great interview!
@@MargaretGardinerUniverse , I'm sorry. It was not meant as an insult. There are just some speakers that I have difficulty listening to. I cannot quite put my finger on it; maybe cadence? Again, not an intentional insult. I apologize.

Yeah they were going to cast older but I think they made the right choice
Yea, he’s amazing. He captured all the mannerisms of Prince Phillip. Totally different performance than Edmure Tully in GoT.
Tobias is on of the best actors I have seen on screen
New #thecrown is going to be great
Tobias Menzies is so handsome. What a lovely man.
I love how he looks when he smiles. Thx for Watching. did you see the old chats with Caitriona and Sam?
@@MargaretGardinerUniverse Me too. It was a pleasant interview. I can't say I know who you're talking about.

I think Tobias is actually a advanced soul....lucky person who gets into his heart. 🌺
he never talks about his private life so was glad to get the part about the kitchen!

Does he have a bad haircut, or his hairline just receding? Lol not hating just curious. Love him in The Crown!
def receding. sadly only natural as a man gets older lol
Receiding with age ofc but i saw that he had to alter his hairline for this role
