A 0% loan for 21 months is more valuable than any credit card benefit when used correctly.

*Hold up for the Rewards+ did you just ignore the fact that if you pair this with a Double Cash and Custom Cash card, you could rake in a lot of cashback? The extra 10% cashout feature of the Rewards+ should apply to those cards too if you have all 3 right? 10% on 1K is huge, free 100$ a year potentially.*

Costco in stores only takes select credit cards (Visa). So getting Amex to shop at Costco will limit you to shopping online with them. Even the gas pumps at Costco don't take Amex. I am going to either change or cancel my Citi Costco card next year as the nearest location is about 30 miles from me.

Shopping at Costco with the Blue Cash Preffered only gives you 1% back, not 6%.

The rewards plus is fantastic because, it adds the 10% rebate on points to your other Citi cards. Also if you have one “cash back” citi card, all your other cards that earn TY points such as the Premier can then be redeemed for cash back.

The costco credit card for me is the best card for gas as costco gas is already cheaper than other gas station and having that extra cash back would be even better

Every time you trash my "everything else" daily runner, the Citi Double Cash, I get *triggered.* Of the alternatives you mentioned... SoFi's website is very rudimentary. Any disputes has to be done on the phone and all the CSR can do is put in a service request for you. They can't do anything to help you. Wells Fargo is, well, Wells Fargo, plus redeeming cash has to be done in $25 increments. Apple Card doesn't work for me because I don't worship Tim Apple.
Granted, there are other options like the Fidelity cash back card, via FIA, and the PayPal cash back card, via Synchrony. I don't know about FIA but Synchrony has a terrible reputation for customer service.

I'd argue that the Citi Custom Cash is even better for credit card churners or those with multiple cards. The "low spend threshold" is a bit of an illusion as it's really only the case if one doesn't pass that threshold in ONE category, for that ONE card. Someone with multiple cards would have several other cards for other categories, leaving room for the Custom Cash Card in a category like gas, entertainment, streaming, or fitness. And I think most people would have a hard time spending more than $500 per month in those categories I mentioned.

  • @Adiscretefirm
    @Adiscretefirm Год назад +4

I hear the $500 per month cap on the Custom Cash concern a lot. I've never really understood it, the quarterly category cards are usually 1500 for three months. I guess if you use that as your grocery card a family could go past 500 in a month but I never will so it's effectively the same to me.

The rewards + card would be awesome for things like if you buy a coffee every morning or small purchases under $10 A dollar item would be a 10% return

1 - If your purchase is less than $2, then Rewards+ beats a 5x card
2 - If your purchase is less than $3, then Rewards+ beats a 3x card
3 - If your purchase is less than $5, then Rewards+ beats a 2x card
4 - If your purchase is less than $6, then Rewards+ beats a 1.5x card
The smaller the purchase, the better it is to use the Rewards+.

I'd swap Citi Custom Cash and Premier. Premier in A tier and CCC in S tier. There is also the Citi Shop Your Way card which is an interesting card.

Capital One next!! I was pre-approved for (and I got) the Savor One card (No annual fee). I wanted it because I know I spend a lot of money on sporting events. All three versions of the Savor card give you 8% cash back on Vivid Seats purchases and purchases through the Capital One entertainment portal.

Great video! I agree with your rankings on all the cards. My two favorite cards from Citi are the Custom Cash and the Rewards+ card. In fact, I was just approved for the Custom Cash card last week. The $500 monthly spending limit for 5% cash back is virtually the same as the quarterly limits on the Chase Freedom/Freedom Flex and Discover It cards. Usually, I don’t max out the 5% limits on those other cards, so the Custom Cash is a great fit for me. I do also like the Citi Premier card for its multipliers, but I think the $500 hotel spend is too high to qualify for the statement credit, compared to the CSP. As far as the American Airlines cards, I think they are good cards to get for the signup bonus. However, after a year or two, they may not be so good. What’s good is that Citi will allow cardholders to product change them to ThankYou points earning cards.

What a stupid thing to say about balance transfers “You don’t know how to use credit cards “ ??? No, some people go through hardships, loosing a job, getting sick and not being able to work and etc etc etc. Balance transfer cards are great when you go through hardships if you need to get yourself together and not pay 24% Apr

I have excellent credit. It is weird to me how most poor or “middle class” people really obsess over their credit cards.
Word of advice, don’t fixate so much on credit cards and worry more about your debit, aka your personal funds.
I got rich from focusing on my funds aka debit card/checking account.
