Telling someone to just be confident or get out more won't make them just magically become that way. If it were that simple, no sane person would willingly choose to feel insecure or depressed.

I could totally see them growing up where Hailee was always the dramatic "I'm going to be a model" one and then Abbey was always trying to, or being made to cater to her sister's wishes to avoid an argument. Like Abbey always wanted a relationship with her older sister, but Hailee was always so controlling and dramatic that the only way Abbey could connect with her sister was giving into Hailee getting her way all the time.
