Along with Spiderman: separation anxiety and Comix Zone. 31 years old now, unbelievable how time flies lol. Really miss those days. I’m glad to see folks still appreciating this
The concept of this game is freaking great. I could see a new version, still top down and with perhaps an upgrade system. Even make the plot that the good Doc anticipated that the corporation would try again and made a backup of the ooze serum just in the off chance he needed to become the ooze again. The whole fluid mechanic really would look amazing and... I'd take the difficulty down a notch or two. Like, first couple levels are piss easy, but then when we get to the corporation, gotta focus on the puzzle elements lest you get dead REAL quick.
I also figure a mechanic would be to use the punch to "add ooze" to your opponents and when enough is on them, that's when they become goo and you kill them and can add them to you. Spitting does much the same, a bigger glob but it rips a chunk off your ooze body to do it. I'd also add a "corrosive" meter. By activating it, it turns all your goo into the corrosive type and you kill everything by touching it, but it doesn't last forever. You'd get it by consuming ooze and killing opponents and power up drops. Kinda like a rage instead of soley a powerup you find per chance.
The new version will be an open world with rpg elements, crafting and base building. And microtransaction for aesthetics like to have a cooler green shade.
Love it! There should also be a level select AND a game save feature too and a map of the stage to where you are, where the hidden DNA are located as well as the hidden test labs(bonus levels). There should also be two endings. Both of them are happy endings. One where you some succeed in somehow exposing the Corporation's exploits to the world and the Director is taken off to jail. The whole plant is decommissioned however you use it's equipment to work on finding a cure. The other ending is after you've collected all the DNA,you install them in to a machine that successfully turns you human again. The evil Director, like the first game,is the one stuck in a lava lamp. And now that you're in charge, you use the entire plant to run more clean and efficient energy and improve the experiments for the betterment of mankind instead of evil. What do you think?
I think it's still amazing. I assume several images were made for the edges, selected based on the surroundings. The fluid could be made of a particle system. The head would be the pivot and various squares move trying to be together around the head, but avoiding overlapping. When attacking, one of the squares becomes another pivot, like another leader, and the others follow it. But I don't know how it was implemented. It's a supposition.

Once I got the hang of it, I didnt find the game to be THAT difficult...I think the difficulty comes more from poor design in some spots; for example, its not very clear what can or cant hurt you. It is also very easy to get lost, and it's not very clear where you have to go or what your actions do. I remember flipping switches as a kid and trying to figure out what the hell it did.
It certainly wasn't very clear on what could hurt you and what couldn't unless you eyeballed the protag's reaction during play and took note of sound effects. Thankfully, back in the day it was a lot easier to see what was going on since the screen views were so much smaller and there were limits on how much could spawn (to ensure it could fucking run in the first place). After watching this video while trying to go to sleep, I coulda sworn that the footage jumped back at certain points. Concluded it was my imagination, although upon viewing this video again today I've noticed more instances where the footage jumped back. An example of this is when it jumps back from *WASTE PLANT PART II* to the end of *TOXIC DUMP* 's boss fight at 29:07. Jumping forward to about 39:33 seems to preserve the flow of the video. This was the only one that I have found upon today's viewing as of this moment. The fact that this jump exists shows that it's possible that there are more jumps, and that it wasn't my imagination a couple of days ago.
Agree. So sad that 3 use to be great companies would go so downhill after all those years. How in the world did they lose their way? I think they should go sort of back to basics and find out what actually worked really well in the past and experiment with new things or use great older series. They can build up from there and build up their reputation back, even if the games would be 2D ones, as long they are good and not rushed.
This game was 90s death metal/deathpunk in a nutshell. Think about it- You get turned into a gelatinous monster of toxic slime by a corrupt science corporation, and you must now claim vengeance on them by devouring all that stands as you welcome their flesh and bones into the very biomass they have created.
That does beg a question though if Dr.Cane was going to expose the company then why did he not notice anything wrong in the Gentics Lab where he likely worked in and didn't see any destroyed walls and grounds with a big monster as well unless the company started killing everyone in the lab and destroying everything after the director put him through the toilet.

I'm 18 now and glad to know so many others struggled with it too
I've figured out the key to success in this game. It's your extending fist. It has a small green blob on the end which is barely visible but this is what you are aiming to hit things. pay close attention to it. To get it to go where you want is the aim but it will only travel in diagonals. So in order to hit things which you are not precisely in line with you must finesse it right at the end to hit the target be it an enemy or post to grab onto. Do a quick little circular motion. Then you will be able to hit target you are not precisely in line with on the 8 axis.
@C L As did I. It came out around the same time Danny Phantom aired on Nickelodeon, so I was quick to notice the similarities between the Danny Phantom theme song and the Toxic Dump theme.
I love the way the Ooze says 'YES!' whenever he grabs those DNA things. Unfortunately: it's not worth getting them all since the 'reward' is just for a piss poor animation when you beat the game... that is, if you can beat it because it's also ballbustingly hard!
This game always scares me when I played it Mainly cuz I’m a “ZZZZZOOMAH 🧑🏽🦱” So I played this on the ATGames console, and oh boy the first level music always freaked me out, and I thought you were playing as the bad guy (I never watched the opening cutscene so I didn’t know this was kinda like a revenge story) and the death animation also freaked me out! My mom would turn it on sometimes just to mess with me I’m 15 now That was an embarrassing moment in my life

I never knew that some of the levels had multiple routes, then again I never got past the 2nd level when I borrowed a copy for a few days
00:37 What's Milo from Atlantis doing here?!
When i played for the first time, i thought the same thing.
I first played this on the red sega plug n play. Very interesting game
@C L As did I. It came out around the same time Danny Phantom aired on Nickelodeon, so I was quick to notice the similarities between the Danny Phantom theme song and the Toxic Dump theme.
This game freaked me the fuck out as a kid.
I love the way the Ooze says 'YES!' whenever he grabs those DNA things.
Unfortunately: it's not worth getting them all since the 'reward' is just for a piss poor animation when you beat the game... that is, if you can beat it because it's also ballbustingly hard!
On the bright side, you become human once again.
Yeah, sounds like he got a lucky number playing craps.
I'm 32 -- used to play this game as a 9-year-old at my babysitter's house, with her younger brother who was about 12.
Bring back so much good memories bruh I wish I could go back and play again 😭😭
I think I remember this once a long time ago
God this game was difficult....
вєηנαмιℓℓιση true I have it as part of ps2 sonic mega collection plus and it's still hard for me.
вєηנαмιℓℓιση truss me I never got around finishing it
my ps2 sonic mega collection plus
The 90s did "dystopian" just right
What scared me was the game over scene as a kid
The ooze always makes you lose.
I used to played this game on Sega channel 1997
Fluids physics in a 16 bit game!!
I have been suggesting to the soundtrack
Memories Man 😭
It seems like Dr D Caine has a sense of humour as well
I would have liked to see this game get the same treatment as people did with Sonic...🙂
This game always scares me when I played it
Mainly cuz I’m a “ZZZZZOOMAH 🧑🏽🦱”
So I played this on the ATGames console, and oh boy the first level music always freaked me out, and I thought you were playing as the bad guy (I never watched the opening cutscene so I didn’t know this was kinda like a
revenge story) and the death animation also freaked me out!
My mom would turn it on sometimes just to mess with me
I’m 15 now
That was an embarrassing moment in my life
interesting game. For some reason, I am reminded of Fester's Quest. Think its the top down look and the weird factor.
This game scared me as a kid. I still feel uncomfortable watching this and Im 20years old now. This was more scary than ah! monsters to me
2023PerfectDark never did scared when I was a kid. but I'm 17
I remember seeing it for the first time on show in one of those novelty gadget shops and I was petrified of it. obviously better now but I still get a bit uncomfortable today whenever I see it. :|
I had his on a genesis along with some other games like Sonic Spinball when I was 5 and this definitely scared the shit out of me, now I’m 14 and yeah I do still get a bit uncomfortable while watching this lmao
I guess I'm a sick fuck because this game only intensified me having a vore fetish 😂😂😂
@@roland_the_cursor you mistaken with "v"
Wow, best horror-fiction game on Mega Drive console.
This is my childhood
I wonder what the ooze would be like if it was a movie
I wonder that too
Introducing "The Blob" from 1985
Dang i remember this
So this is what Phobia were playing when they came up with Carrion?
Great childhood memories. Never beat this. I remember it was tough and I loved the music.
I love how you die like 5 seconds after you enter Plague Factory Act I
Ooz is good but i always wonder how it got into sonic mega collection
This game scared the shit out of me as a kid
Still a trillion times better than the Action 52 counterpart.
This soundtrack slaps
Played this game long ago when I rented it from "Zappers" I loved it despite being utterly confused and frustrated by it
very underrated though i do agree that it's unfairly difficult at times
That intro... god damn
it takes 2 hours to finish this game!?! I don't think I can handle 2 hours+ of map memorization.
ya wtf rite?
2 hours after a life long experience
Does this game at least save your progress or are the developers sadists?
@@mr.4096 I remember having this on the Mega Drive/Genesis, and no you can't save your progress. You have to beat this sucker in one playthrough. Unless you're playing on an emulator.
این بازی من خرید داری کردم ولی هنوز دستم نرسیده واقعا داستان و گیم پلی عالی داره
