  • Yasmine Naghdi, as Giselle, performs the Act I Variation in The Royal Ballet's production of Giselle.
    Giselle is available to watch now - along with over 60 other extraordinary productions - on Royal Opera House Stream. Watch the whole performance now at www.roh.org.uk/tickets-and-ev...
    Giselle is the classic ballet of the Romantic era - and, for the dancer performing the title role, one of the greatest challenges in the repertory. Peter Wright’s production, a classic itself, perfectly achieves the dual aspects of the ballet, moving from the naivety of young love between Giselle and Albrecht in the village setting of Act I to the ethereal Wilis in Act II’s eerie moonlit forest. Rich in vivid character detail and poignant depth of feeling, Giselle is a reminder of ballet’s power to move and thrill.

    Yasmine just gets better and better, WOW. And I can't believe she's even more divine as Giselle, than she is as Juliet. Stunning! I would bawl like a baby, if I saw her betrayed in the way that Giselle is, in the storyline. 😥😍 Sometimes, I wish we could 'Disney-fy' these storylines! Too sad, but SO good. 😅

    i’ve rewatched this 5 times now, she’s so graceful and her technique is so spot on, she seems so incredibly strong but pulls off an amazing lightweighted look!

    I suspect Yasmine is going to be the next big thing at RB after Nela, and rightfully so, she’s stunning! I thought her Juliet was one of the best I’d seen, but I actually like her Giselle even more!

    This was the best (full version) of Giselle I've ever seen. Yasmine Naghdi and Matthew Ball were superb. The emotion they conveyed - from being in love, to his betrayal - was palpable. They were brilliant in Ro + Ju also. A fine partnership

    The first video I ever watched of the Royal ballet Yasmine dance was her and Matthew ball doing the Romeo and Juliet bedroom pas deux after that I’ve become such a huge fan of her, this company, and just ballet as a whole. And now seeing her as Giselle she is magnificent I’m so happy for her. Go Yasmine. Go Royal ballet 🎊🎉🎊🎉🎊👏👏👏

    My dream is to become professional ballerina but it’s to late for me to become a professional. I love it with all my passion and when I hear music and dance I tear up and dream that I will be on stage making people smile and make those little girls and boys dream of it too. But it breaks my heart each time I look at myself and see no potential. I hope you don’t feel the same and pursue your dreams and goals. ❤️❤️❤️

    Does anyone know why The Royal Ballet doesn't put their principal dancers who play Giselle in the traditional blue costume? I feel they don't stand out enough in these brown/beige costumes

    • @meowool
      @meowool 2 года назад

      It's probably the choice of that costume designer when they initially staged Giselle

    • @pinkapoppy
      @pinkapoppy 2 года назад +9

      i think it’s just up to the producer; personally i find the beige/brown dresses more accurate for her character and storyline (plus i think they’re really pretty but that’s just because i really love beige-brown tones)

    • @barborasolanska3997
      @barborasolanska3997 2 года назад +6

      I actually like the blue one too, but I think the designer wanted a very earthy look for the first act, to contrast the mystical otherworldly second. And although I see that the blue dress makes Giselle distinguishable and a bit apart from other people, it is probably more accurate she dresses the same way as others in the village. And is distinguishable be her character, the way she sees the world. I like both and I see were they come from. It’s wonderful to see different perspectives and takes

    Yasmin has a strong talent for characterization and emotional expression. She dances gracefully and is an excellent ballerina. It seems that Russian ballerinas look more slimmer, maybe they have very strict diet and weight control.
