What's wrong with paper log books?
I've been using them for the last 35 years.
I quit a company because of that "Tell-Tale Egg Timer" device on my dashboard. I control my own time, not someone else doing it for me.
No QUALCOMM either.
Just a cell phone and a Rand McNally is all I need.
Preach to 'em brother!!! I'm right there with you. It's been working for me for 28 years not gonna change now.
@@jasonsellers9595 I remember the old TACOGRAPH that was in the trucks during the 50s n 60s.
My uncle was a trucker. I rode with him often. HIS company had them in thier trucks. A TELL-TALE device. The unions faught to get them out of the trucks and did. Paper log books were introduced in 1970 along with the 10 on/ 8 off rule; which we all ran under for over 20 years.
Mid 90s the Qualcomm came into play. (Tracking Device) and then the Computer Log books. All the young guys welcomed it because it was: "TOO HARD" to fill out a log book. I quit a good company because a desk jockey was always tracking me and watching my log book
Trying to tell me when and how to use my time so that he could get the maximum limit out of me.
Today,
I run for a very small company. 20 drivers. All trucks are 1999 and older.
Here's a bill of laden, a log book, some telephone numbers, stay out of trouble. Check in when loaded and or empty. And they leave me alone.
I'm retiring very soon because of this new breed out there. I've had enough of it all.
@@thomasparkin4183 man that’s the way I liked it, got out of it 15 yrs ago,,but paper logs,,,
Loose leaf at that, never ran out of time
That's a BIG 10/4 !!!
@@thomasparkin4183 dang, wish I worked for a company like that. Sick of being tracked and harassed TBH.
(Although I'm not lazy, it's just getting old already.)
I was listening to a report that the owner-operators and the smaller trucking businesses is being purged intentionally so the bigger companies can buy them out and control all trucking. That's seems to be going on.
For a long time over 25 years now.
I hear this happens every year after the new year till the mid summer. Once the harvest hits, the market corrects itself. C virus and the bad winter in Texas paused the cycle, but I hear this is normal.
All brought to you by the ATA who owns the FMCSA using corrupt practices.

I've been trucking for 24 years.....all this mess that's going on now over the last 5 years is really bad .....last week Iv put my keys down and won't pick them back up....I appreciate all u mutha truckers out there but I'm done. Yall be safe and keep the rubber side down. God bless
ENJOY YOUR RETIREMENT SIR...THANKS FOR KEEPIN MERICA GOING 💪
Good for you! I'd love to be in that position. I'm working on it. Dont know if I'll last 24 years. Don't know that I won't, but if the feds keep playing games at this accelerated rate, none of us will be driving much longer. I-robot will be cruising down the road.
I parked also and not going to start it!
I drove for 22 yrs. Laid the keys down 8 yrs ago and nope no more. Took my pension early and retired in early 40s. Drove for freedom and now tracked and controlled by computers. The life of running free to escape bull shit drama has been ruined and a totally different breed of drivers started. We were family that watched out for each other. Breaker 1 9 for some local info. 10 drivers would offer help. A driver broke down 5 drivers stopped to help. We never run others down for making a mistake or laugh at them. We helped that driver to learn so not repete the same mistake not knowing how to do it right. A driver cant back up, we got out to direct and teach not video tape and laugh.

Ahh, the good old days 👍🏼. Don't forget no 14hr or 8hr rules
What chu talking aabout Willis???
That was a great time !!! I could run like I wanted too c mon
As a former DOT Motor Carrier Safety Inspector for Louisiana back in the 80's I can tell you we all knew about the double logbooks. We were more concerned about the maintenance of the tractor-trailer. Guess every state is different and way different today than yesterday.
I’ll never forget the night I pulled into the always available wee hour back row at JJ’s. Suddenly the sight of flames of fire were being hurled one page at a time out the window of the truck that had just parked next to me! 😂😆🤣😂
I would love to see some of these paper 📝 logs from this new breed of drivers 🤪😂😃✌️
As old school when this stuff was coming in, I doubt I could adapt now if I wanted to. Left the craft in 06 after 33 years. Now following several sites, talking to drivers still out there, it sounds confusing. It starts with the 8 day week. One thing for sure, no change is made for the good of the driver. Oh well, back to listening to I AM A TRUCK.
Paper logs are the best
Lol lmao lol lmao 🤣🤣 right....I would like to see some paper 📜 Logs from the new breed of Steerin' Wheel holders myself,, Most of these new drivers don't even have a screw driver or pliers much less a tool a box in the truck ..I keep a shit ton of tools with me ... The inconsistency is frustrating and unnecessary. These people don’t actually know what they’re doing in government.
I would argue that they know exactly what they are doing . Repeating Bolshivic Russia the food chain confiscation is right on course with the inoculations and travel passes
@@calisingh7978 So u r saying they are intending to confuse and ruin careers because of a political ideology of hypocrisy?
Use a competent eld maker such as Keep Truckin' Motiv. It's NOT the FMCSA fault 🤦🏿. When u don't read you'll be lost in Trucking!
🎯
A lot of the Transportation Lobbyist are not the Government a lot of the a holes who lobby for these Bull💩 laws are the large carriers themselves, anyway you want to split it , it is still college educated dumbasses who have never set a step in a semi
This is enough. Enough is enough with the government. Why aren't ALL drivers coming together and parking their trucks for the next 2 years? Park the trucks already. 1 month. 2 months. 1 week. 1 year is preferred until total collapse. SMH
The same question I have been asking for years!!
That’s the only option
I've seen protests like that, it never worked out. People have bills to pay. Last protest was just a few months ago where TPC - People's Trucker Convoy - was all up in arms over a damn mask, drove around DC making big fat fools of themselves , not accomplishing jack shit. Truckers are squandering any clout they have over trivial things like that, which makes a real true legitimate complaint just that much more difficult.
1000s of drivers that have never experienced paper logs. DOT gonna make millions.
It’s certainly possible, the company I work for doesn’t even show new drivers how to fill them out. Although we’re strictly local, it’s still beneficial for them to know how in my opinion.
I loved loose leaf logs.
Sounds like class action lawsuit time against Arion Tech. Its a breach of their contract after that money was spent on their system and because of their fault was decertified and now so many will have to purchase a new system and get it installed. Not a trucker or a lawyer, but seems pretty straight forward.
U could be right !!! If you can get a lawyer to pick up !!!🙂
It was either an approved ELD or not approved. . If the maker made changes after being approved thats a suit against them . Evidently the FMCSA overlooked something,But good luck sueing a Government agency.
@@jimmyfumbanks6081 obviously I am not sure of the exact issue but if manufacture couldn’t make it compliant seems like they might be at fault. I assume that if it’s just this single manufacturer that has this issue it’s not the government that is the problem here. But I am with you trying to sue the government would be a lost cause. Arian on the other hand. Sure would like to know more details on what exactly happened as at some point they were compliant and many units installed.
@@jimmyfumbanks6081 FMCSA rules are changing all the time and when they change each ELD company has to flash All their units to keep them compliant. FMCSA changes the rules but the fault goes to the ELD company for not staying compliant
Paper logs ? Hell yeah … make more money son like old days !!!!!
Work smarter not harder special
ALL ABOUT THE MONEY,
they are LOOSING thousands of dollars in FINES DAILY
It’s whatever fits THEIR NEEDS not ours
I've always thought ELD's were better because all you do is login, certify previous day, punch some BOL numbers, trailer numbers and then you log out off the end of each day.
My opinion they should stick with paper logs but that would be helping drivers so
Keep truckin is the best eld ever. 400 miles in yard move- officer you shoulda seen the size of this fed ex terminal 😂

Seems like to me with all that is happening to truckers is that there is a movement to remove the independent truckers.
Why is this news? Having a paper logbook in your truck has always been a requirement, period.
Cause if your using this eld service. You will be put out of service
@@MuthaTrucker ELDs malfunction and fall out of compliance all the time. Drivers should always be vigilant in keeping their HOS properly documented.
Nothing difficult about using paper logs !
all the paper logs are sold out at the truck stops all of a sudden.......
"Go to sleep when tired." It's the best log book.
Sounds good back to the loose leaf log sheets.
Oh really, all I have to do is sit there and think about filling a paper log? Thanks for the update Mai. You always bring the heat to keep us informed and add factual reference. Side note, some of these people don't like what I have to say about it lol.
I miss paper logs before all this stuff started I could do a round trip from the Carolinas and back in 5-6 days solo no it wasn’t all legal but the money was great

Hell yeah. Atlanta to LA and back, home every weekend.
Can leave south Tx and run to Georgia and be back in the rio grande valley with a back haul in 5-6 days no issues on paper gotta love it!

we need to disband the FMCSA! They need to go!
Dealing with the stupid government
If I could use paper logs I definitely wouldn’t be a company driver anymore. Miss paper logs so much!
Get you a 99 or older truck and you can join the club
I’m on paper and I’m not complaining. Are people really upset about having to use them? Im a young driver who started on ELD and it was an absolute pain to deal with, too much technical bs.
Thanks for the update
It ain't the 80s anymore I'm still using my ELD since it's more easy and convenient. Screw paper logs
YOU THE MANN..👍🏼
Like the truck stops and company’s have paper logs on a shelf, you know darn well there won’t be enough books to go around, not to mention the shortage of white out about to happen!
I buy logs all the time and have yet to see a truck stop that doesn't have plenty in stock...
😂
You guys just need to sue the fuck out of the government for harassment. Every day is something new making your lives and jobs harder. Get together and file class action lawsuits and whatever else you can Straight up flood their offices with lawsuits
Thank god for this old truck I have! I can still do 2 Georgia runs from south Tx each week all thanks to paper logs lol
You can get drive plenty of miles under an ELD. You just can't stop n park n go do other stuff like you could under paper. With an ELD you gotta drive once your day starts. The best thing about the ELD is it will document how long we wait for loading and unloading. so that time can finally be billed and payed properly. Repair shop times too! Sometimes these waits at repair shops can get ridiculous...We can start showing which repair shops have the best turnaround times!
Paper logs are
A.W.E.S.O.M.E !! 😎 ..
MUCH Safer

just what we need have to work on our down time smart move fmcsa
And is fmsca gonna pay the cost
I guess they didnt pay the fmscs bribe
Arion you can use manually!!! Really cool my friend using it for last 2 years
I would LOVE to go back to paper
Yep yep, everything is closing in. I just tapped into my old mega carrier website and they are paying $5.24 a gallon of fuel at TA and Petro in Ontario California. We are being forced out.
Nothing like using the good ol etch N sketch. Builds character
Awesome! I loved running paper logs with how easy it is to fudge them. There isn't 1 idiot cop out there that could read a paper log book now so get to truckin!
90 days of freedom rake it in boys
I’m in a rental truck and the ELD system ain’t working and I’m enjoying the paper logs. 😉
The company I now drive for had that problem with another ELD vendor that got delisted by the FMCSA. This was a while back, before Canada had the ELD requirement so it was only a problem if we crossed the border to the USA. It was a bit inconvenient, but it was replaced with what we use now, Geotab.
O
Which one did you use?
@@Avant-GardeFarm That happened before I started at the company.
Shiiiiiid im jealous, that's a win win. They will make more money on paper logs if they know what they are doing
We need to get control of this country fast, we've got so much crap to flush down the drain.
According to what you said, the FMCSA is removing this brand of ELD from service because it is no longer compliant with FMCSA guidelines. How is the FMCSA changing rules? They are upholding their own rules and being very lenient as for the 60 days of paper logs.
I miss running a log book at least I'll always have time to get runs done.
As a follower we had to turn down a offer on our house because of most of the content we've seen over the last month. It saddens us as our family are drivers and see a bad future for drivers.
Sweet im all for it.get back to the way trucking should be paper logs and no piece of crap eld.27 yrs and 24 were paper.im ready.16 years pulled a bull rack.
Makes you wonder who's benefitting for the change in what eld system you're using to find out which one is federally certified 🤔, follow the money of the politicians who are stockholders in the new eld compliance company
3 log book ready!😂

Wish I could use paper logs again. Uses Omnitrac through Shaw so unfortunately can't do that
That means you have 60 days to go back to the old days of pencil wiping some logs..keep truckin has the best elog I’ve ever used
I love to be on paper again. I hate ELD with a passion
I wonder what happened that they aren’t compliant? Note: I’m not an ELD fan, but I’m sure there was a lot of communication between this ELD company and the FMCSA before it just says it’s non compliant “today”.
I know a lot of Driver called it quits when the ELD log came into effect ,
Good they'll be able to make some money now
Last week my eld was not working I had to run paper logs.
Finally some good news 💪💪 But it’s a little fishy.. Troopers will be giving tickets over this crap I bet ya.
I don’t see a problem here
Just buy a Garmin no monthly fee. Email the logs. That one had a lot problems it would not record when the server was down
I never stopped useing paper logs!
Today I stopped at a Mom and pop's truck stop thought I would get something good to eat ordered it up they was rather busy and I realized I didn't have time the eld was not going to let me go home if I stayed to eat so I left $25 worth of food setting on the table that I never touched and left in a hurry
Wow! You can't win for losing
And that’s how they will make you buy what they want whenever they want.
Damnnn…….. that’s awesome make hay while that sun is shining on you drivers. Swindle sheets away 😎
Well that’s typical FMCSA always moving the goal post on us.
which company is good for new drivers ? Im in Houston now, please advise. Thanks.
I’m pulling my big road eld out for 60 days now lol
Woo Hoo, thousands of truck drivers can finally get some proper rest and relax. If only for a short time, but it might feel a little like a vacation.
Bring back the paper and pen!
Really? I’d say you should really look at who you drive for if it makes any difference whether you’re on paper or an ELD. Mine has never once told me I had to drive LONGER. It also really doesn’t care if I try to get MORE rest.
Don't forget! The HOS rules are the exact same for both paper logs and E-logs.
The headline should be "Thousands of truck drivers are being allowed to make a decent paycheck for the next 60 days".
Good nap time when you need it!
I use some electronic logging devices cause paper was getting expensive much easier to highlight and hit the delete button 😂😂😂
I think there is a app you can use on your phone that works for your ELD compliance
I use paper logs for the last 41 years still do
It is not the ELD that brought about the computer command semi. It is the paper and pencil/pen and ALL of the rules violations on paper and the rules "scapegoating/by-passing" manipulating ELD's to advance a load assignment and to kill a driver either physically in an accident or by DAK and CSA.
...And people want more government.smh. they can't even get this right 🤣
I use keep trucking, easy and simple
So how many log books do you run?
Sir I do use Arion.
I have a 99 build truck anyways and I guarantee that I'm safer, happier, healthier and more profitable than anyone on ELD
So glad I don't drive in the United States anymore. I run Western Canada and haven't used anything but paper logs. Don't know anything about ELDs and don't care to know anything about them. My truck is old enough I'll never have to use ELDs. Thank goodness for old iron running hard and strong.
Oh Lord, you know that there will be some drivers that don't know how to do paper logs. I trained a driver once that couldn't understand graphs, much less decimals and fractions. I am so glad that I'm out of truck driving and being a trainer even if it's because of my health.
🙋♂️ I hate paper log bro 😂😂
and your poor lifestyle choice got you there. make fun of that person all you want, but at the end of the day you are the one who got on your knees and begged for more hours, less wages to appease your boss. you are responsible for your own health, YOU and only you caused it bc you lack the spine to stand up and say "hey bossman, i know you hate your family, but i dont. i have worked 10 hours already and im going home"
I love paper ,,,I can drive for as much as I want,,I won't work with E log,,I go on foodstamps and they can drive the truck to F Egypt
I hope the rookies know how to use a paper log. Hint…. Get a 3-ring binder.
Several DOT offices complimented me for my logbook. I used a 3 ring binder and clear sheet protectors. I always had more than the last 8 days worth logs too.
