Thank you Clay and Bill!!! Been learning alot from you guys. I work for a small excavating company as an equipment operator. We have 3 six wheeler dumps, two 2 axle trailers and one three axle, but no real mechanic so that's my part time job lol!! And when it's dealing with 2 def internationals and a few people that could break an anvil with a rubber mallet, it's rough!!! Keep up the good work. Got the low quality DEF alert drain and replace about a week ago.
The light went off before I got home and hasn’t been back on since.
Great video. Is there also a screen within the tank to prevent debris from getting to the filter, thanks

2019-2021 579 disconnect negative battery cable crawl under from passenger side 2 bolts separate you from the big twisty. Slightly wiggle and pull filter out put new filter and cup in ….EZZzz … and if you don’t have the right socket a good size pair of truck stop channel locks will work fine in an emergency.
Do you know what the purpose of the valve on the bottom of plastic housing? I replaced the filter and housing and its leaking from the hole on the bottom
My def tank filter cap is stuck on. What can I do to get it released...

Very helpful,Don’t need to take off the side skirt to get to the def filter but besides that one very helpful video.
For us to film we had to take it off hard to get under the truck w a creeper and camera and lighting

Hey guys can bad def filter cause truck to lose power ? My goes 25 to 35 mph with loads 20k to 35 k on hills in I-78 and I-84 and how much it cost to get a new filter ? And does def needs to be empty or full to change it thanks a lot

I changed my filter and now it leaks. Changed the cap also and still leaking. Does the cap come with a gasket?

Removal tool so you don’t have to use a pick. Shove it in the old filter and it latches on so you can yank her out.

We do it yearly when we do winter PM on our trucks.
We do ours every 75,000 mi.

I was told to do it every 6 months haven't had any problems since doing that
My low def code is on and the def light flashes on and off but my def tank is full... could changing this filter might be it?? Tia
I doubt it you have other issues
Sounds like the DEF level sensor. Mine was doing that changed it today fixed my problem.

You should let it finish and also give it time to cool down
The plastic piece inside the bag is a remover tool
We have a shop dog ..... Diesel and if u leave anything plastic laying around in the floor it is a chew toy. So our remover ended up being chewed up from time it was tossed under the truck until time it was needed.

No it just ensures you have clean DEF has nothing to do with consumption rate

We change it two times a year on OTR trucks. Local trucks that don’t get as many miles we change 1 time a year for PM

Have yall ever had on a 2014 t680 mx13 engine code p1407/ or spn5396 fmi1 saying crankcase hose disconnect or leak detected. MIL light comes on everytime after a long drive. Where or what should I be looking for to figure this out?

Delete it = no more DEF filter and no more DEF fluid! Truck runs better, gets better mileage, and much less breakdowns!
Does DEF fluid do anything, or is it just something else the government mandated to cost people more money? Because, putting toxic chemicals into your truck, that comes in big plastic jugs, doesn't seem environmentally friendly to me
It’s like really strong windex without the coloring. Ammonia and water ? It’s “supposed” to have a chemical reaction when introduced to help cut down on the soot output and carbon footprint ? Who really knows ? Probably like you said something else to regulate and over tax
DEF is a 32% ammonia/ water mixture, When the SCR is at the right temp the DEF is injected and mixes with the exhaust gases, when in the SCR it has a chemical reaction with the ammox 'brick' which helps reduce the Nox emmisions.
