I will always remember 20 years ago when I entered Hyrule Castle's deep below the seas in Wind Waker and I suddenly recognized ALTTP's theme. It made me cry. Coming back to that lost Hyrule was like coming back to my lost childhood.
The dark sadness combined with just the core parts of the motif is so powerful, the hollow wreckage of an ancient glory, the way it comes after the sad drone of the music associated with the Temple of Time and the Sacred Realm, its so good
Its kind of hard to encapsulate in a video just how beautifully the BOTW theme dynamically progresses when your going from inside to outside or vice-versa, its just phenomenal! OOT Ganon tower will forever be my most memorable though
TotK's Castle Sky Theme is kind of a bunch of different themes fighting for dominance and just getting louder and louder (until it softly ends with the choral main theme). Kind of represents how nobody is control of the castle for most of this game. The seat of Hyrule is not under active control by Ganondorf in the same way Calamity Ganon uses it as a defense fortress, so it doesn't have a that regimented marching sound like in BotW. Most of the themes in the track are trying to escape the meter.
My Top 3; 3: Hyrule Castle Tower (Twilight Princess) A tough one to choose between this and Wind Waker for 'Best classic Hyrule Castle interpretation'. The former arguably has a shade more tragedy and emotion to it, a faint sombre echo of a kingdom lost, but the latter starts...light. Quiet. With a minimalism that says 'Where is everyone?' It almost lures you into a sense of ease...until you hear the last few notes at the end. Then you progress to the best bit, the tower. Here, you're treated to a grander version of the theme you know so well, but as you progress upwards, another familiar theme begins to faintly creep in, gradually growing louder and louder as the former wilts and is overpowered, until you reach the peak, where it has been thoroughly consumed by the king of evil's foreboding refrain. Masterfully done. 2: Lorule Castle A real gem IMO. What starts as a catchy, slightly surreptitious yet explorative melody that calls to mind a hero sneaking about, using his abilities to outmaneuver unwitting foes, becomes an increasingly boisterous ballad of bravery as he makes his way through the levels, arriving at a suitably epic fanfare, complete with a choir chorus, as he arrives at the top. *THEN* you realise that half of it is Hyrule Castle's theme played backwards. 1: Hyrule Castle Mix (BotW) What else could it be? Do I even need to explain why? The despair, the grief, all captured in a masterful blend of melancholic musical mourning, the best version of Ganondorf's theme rising and falling in waves as Link heroically battles his way through against overwhelming odds, his iconic melody roused in defiance to the point you almost don't hear Zelda's Lullaby overlapping, creating an incredible juxtaposition symbolising her being trapped within the remnants of her own home as he desperately struggles on the outside for a way in, culminating in the most stunning crescendo in any Zelda game, all to the backdrop of the castle's deceased soldiers marching a beat for Link to follow, with him even in death. Sheer genius.
everybody is talking about ALttP, OoT, TotK, and BotW, but ALBW is personaly my favourite theme from here by far (This is speaking as somebody whos first game was OoT so it's not even first-zelda bias)
True. Link between worlds is my first ever zelda game and in fact it is also my first ever video game, it is so special for me but Oot, Tp and Mm are my favourites. I haven't played Tp but I like it so much I don't know why
I only 1st heard the BotW version (35:47) from an 11? hour-long mix of various Zelda music from a couple of the games, and I like it alot lol. My younger sis is the one in the family who has played Botw and TotK.
Goddess above the Wind Waker themes sound so powerful. Hyrule Castle theme tells a ancient kingdom long forgotten but hanging on the very breath of the winds. Hyrule King Appears sounds more powerful and hopeful like there is still a chance to save this kingdom from damnation. Farewell King of Hyrule is us accepting the past is in the past and to live on for the future. That and the song is the closure of the Daphnes. In the beginning he wanted to revive his kingdom but seeing Link, Tetra and everyone on the surface changed his motives. So instead of endangering the surface to an endless struggle with the King of Evil he instead sacrificed his own to save them. His sins drowned with the Kingdom lost to time.
The Farewell to the Hyrule King in WW will always stand out to me as a monument piece of music. The score of the game is very bombastic in brass use to give a great sense of adventure, but at the end of the story and a moment of profound sacrifice from someone who has traveled with you the whole game, the music peels back to just piano. It was a beautiful and somber piece that locked that moment into my memory.
Thanks for this. 😁👍Now I can Daydream of being a Commander of my Glorious Multi Colored Solders, from Games like: Link to the Past, four Swords Adventures and A Link Between Worlds. Man I love the idea of using them as a Faction in Total War games. 😆
I grew up with Link's Awakening and LTTP and for the longest time regarded OOT/MM as the best Zelda games ever made (until Twilight Princess came out) and man BOTW sure was a blast...but Wind Waker's castle theme is still the most haunting to me because of the dark history behind what happened. Spoiler below: The whole time you're just casually sailing around like it's no big deal, just the ocean...and then you learn the ugly truth where the Goddesses basically went 40 days/40 nights on Hyrule to stop Ganon. I think I actually said "WTF" out loud back then.
1) BOTW (1A Outdoor 1B Indoor) 2) Twilight Princess 3) Tears of The Kingdom 4) Wind Waker 5) Ocarina of Time (Ganon Tower) 6) Minish Cap (Dark Castle) 7) A Link Between Worlds (Lorule) 8) Four Swords Adventures 9) A Link to the Past 10) Spirit Tracks Yes the game that introduced this theme is second to last. Game in, game out, they found a way to make it sound better and better with each title release.
i love the way it progressively gets more bombastic the more minibosses you defeat. there’s also an orchestral version by @bitimi which is my favorite rearrangement of the song
A link to the past Ocarina of time ( ganon version) TP and ToFK ( sky version) Sounds the best I couldn’t believe that TOFK blown BOTW away with the amazing Sky version
god, something about twilight princess' that haunting echo as you step inside, the silence surrounding you. then, as you slowly ascend, another sound comes in. the sound of ganondorf himself. he overpowers the haunting echo, showing that this is his domain now. it's beautiful and yt vidoes can't do it justice of ascending it yourself. (imo anyway)
@@unknownzarby1854 thats what makes it so good and memorable lol each theme makes sense. it actually sounds like raiding a castle by far the best, and one of the highlights of the series in general, no other theme competes, and i dont even like botw as a zelda game that much
It works for OoT, in that the castle has been warped into a dark ruinous dungeon just like the existing Temples, but its just ambiance music rather than a Theme, if you mean Courtyard, yeah thats minigame music because its not really exploring the castle And yeah no Ganon's Tower is a Hyrule Castle theme, see its reuse very very strongly in TP(especially as you climb the tower, very cute), but its not Hyrule Castle or even Ganon's Castle
Hyrule Castle (Ocarina of Time) don't have a theme, this theme is for the infiltration that fits more of of a little kid trying to get through the garden till the Princess Zelda without getting seen by the serious but stupid guards, Ganon's Tower is also not a theme of Hyrule Castle (Ocarina of time) as well for evident reasons that it's Ganon's one and not King of Hyrule one... so, sorry not sorry but Ocarina of time has not Hyrule Castle them st all, we have to admit it and I'm a huge fan of this game but real is but want to exist, when Ideal want exist but want to be, that's all

Man your old
wind waker is over 20 years old??? How time flies
You have all those serious and impressive themes for hyrule castle, and then you have the first one for OOT hyrule castle
Its kind of hard to encapsulate in a video just how beautifully the BOTW theme dynamically progresses when your going from inside to outside or vice-versa, its just phenomenal! OOT Ganon tower will forever be my most memorable though

I like how in spirit tracks it is completely different acting as a kind of symbol that it is a completely different place
Spirit Tracks was all about having it's own identity...
So why on earth did Nintendo decide to release it on the same engine as Phantom Hourglass?!
@@WCircuit7224
Because... it's a sequel? On the same console?
59:27 and Twilight Princess Castle theme 👌🏻

Minish Cap's Hyrule Castle Theme is so underrated!! Gorgeous soundtrack, the whole game, and their version of Hyrule Castle is really something else
everybody is talking about ALttP, OoT, TotK, and BotW, but ALBW is personaly my favourite theme from here by far (This is speaking as somebody whos first game was OoT so it's not even first-zelda bias)
true!
ALBW is just ALttP but better.
Thanks. ALBW is my first game and I love both Hyrule and all 5 Lorule castle themes.
True. Link between worlds is my first ever zelda game and in fact it is also my first ever video game, it is so special for me but Oot, Tp and Mm are my favourites. I haven't played Tp but I like it so much I don't know why
20:17 Arstotzkan Castle
I may be the only one, but the nostalgia makes A Link to the Past Hyrule Castle them the best for me
I spent countless hours playing the Gameboy Advance version as a kid. Such a good game and the music fit the ambience all through it perfectly.
I only 1st heard the BotW version (35:47) from an 11? hour-long mix of various Zelda music from a couple of the games, and I like it alot lol. My younger sis is the one in the family who has played Botw and TotK.

I'm surprised no one comments on how BotW's Castle theme is based on the Ballad of the Wind Fish.
Wind Waker is still the best for me and more with Farewell Hyrule king
link to past = my fav
Botw, Minish cap Dark hyrule, and ToTk are my favorites.
BotW and ALttP both have BRILLIANT themes that make me feel the drive of storming a castle!! Absolutely love those two to death
Man Spirit tracks is the only happy one
Lorule Castle theme is so great, nobody talks about it! My faves are BotW and LbtW, but I haven't heard the TotK yet...
The Breath of the wild one is unique to me. the way the marching accompanies the main part of the song is really cool
I like ALttP and ALBW the most
I like zelda Oct ganons tower theme it's like my evil theme
Gracias por este vídeo, es brutal
Twilight Princess hyrule Castle theme gives shivers
1) BOTW (1A Outdoor 1B Indoor)

Yes the game that introduced this theme is second to last. Game in, game out, they found a way to make it sound better and better with each title release.
I feel like you might have missed when the song plays during The Champion’s Ballad in BOTW, but other than that, great video! 👍

I think you missed one for Tears of the Kingdom. Hyrule Castle battle theme is reminiscing A Link to the Past
It is here actually 57:11
Botw hyrule castle theme is my personal favorite.
I CAN'T be the only one hearing Stone Tower in Dark Hyrule Castle, right?
wind waker and twiligth are the bests
The botw version and Totk version are my favorite
For me its 28:00

Like them all part from Sprit tracks one
My favorites or the original theme like a link between worlds hyrule castle
Botw by far takes the cake.
Nah its just decent I personally don’t like the mix of 100 themes in just one
@@unknownzarby1854 thats what makes it so good and memorable lol each theme makes sense.

Oot is my favorite so many memories
Wait, Hyrule Castle was added in the 3rd game?
Ya
Yes I’m pretty sure that the first game had the boss fight in death mountain but idk
Yeah, A Link to the Past was the first one to have the castle and lively fields.
The botw theme a dead army
20 more likes until the nice number
Ocarina of Time you did many things right.....Hyrule Castle was not one of them (and no Ganons Tower doesn't count)

totk's is actual crap compared to botw's. very disappointing, what they did
