I can't eat gluten because it makes me curl up in a ball of extreme pain, but not eating glutenous foods makes like about 70% less interesting. Also, gluten free cupcakes are dry and gross.
OMG I SO AGREE! I've had celiac for 14 years now. Everybody says "yeah well there's a substitute that tastes just as good." Yeah a substitute that just crumbles to pieces
Conan Gray Maybe it's just where I live, but we actually have pretty amazing gluten free food. I'm allergic to gluten (not celiac) and there's a few gluten free bakeries around here that are actually really good. The cupcakes are moist and delicious and they don't crumble and I wouldn't at all think they are gluten free. You just gotta find the right places. Being gluten free is a breeze, but being gluten, dairy, soy, corn, etc. etc. .... that's a different story. -__-
Celiac and the absence of gluten has Caused me to gain weight. I exercise super heavily and I eat super healthy and I only gain. I should loose a little Fat you would think. :/
After getting to the point healing wise (about 9 months after finding out that I'm Celiac) I'm losing weight. Getting healthy enough that I'm absorbing more than basically just the calories that I was absorbing. Although I will say that I'm hating relearning how to bake!!
agree. if you think about it, gluten is in alot of refined carbs. by cutting out gluten totally, they've cut out ALOT of crappy food that doesn't do much for your body other than to make you fat. this is why they lost weight.
I'm celiac and this pisses me off, gluten isn't bad for you, it's a fad diet. So when I ask for this gluten free ppl look at me as if I'm in this fad diet but I can't eat gluten or I will literally get sick
IKR. Last time I even had a tiny bit of gluten I was so sick 20 minutes later that I didn't get to sleep till 3 am and so sick the next day that I RAN INTO A SIGN.
Those of us that need it DO have a lot more options because of the fad diet, which is awesome! But we also run it to a lot more skepticism from people, and I find that sometimes restaurants don't take me seriously because they think I'm just doing it as a fad. I need them to take me seriously because if they're not careful, and decide that, for example, picking the croutons out of the salad is "good enough" I'll be sick for a week if I don't notice. I have seen them try and do stuff like that before.
I also have celiac disease and I totally agree! If I could eat it, I would. In fact, I think I ate healthier when I was eating gluten (before triggering of celiac gene) because I am too lazy to cook for myself and eat a lot of packaged gf foods (which are NOT healthier than their gluten counterparts).
+Emily R it might not be the same in the USA because idk where your from lol but in the uk there is gluten free isles where you can get pasta and all kinds of things in the super markets
one of the upsides to the gluten-free trend is that people who are actually intolerant to gluten have way more options. my brother hasn't had gluten in years and he said that this trend, as much as people may find it useless, has really made a difference in terms of what's available for him now!
Hélène S.G. That's how I look at it. I have been gluten-free for 11 years it has been easier the past 5 or 6 years because there are a lot more gluten-free options that taste good. Before that, a lot of food tasted like cardboard and fell apart and I couldn't eat out. :/ I am glad the diet became trendy!
+Hélène S.G. One downside, however, is that because it _is_ a trend, not all "gluten-free" products are actually 100% safe against cross-contamination, especially when you're eating out. I do think the positives outweigh the negatives, though.
Same for me! My family is gluten intolerant, and we used to have hardly anything in our cupboards but now we have SO much more. Not saying I’m glad this weird gluten free fad is a thing, but it sure helps me not miss gluten as much when I have way more gluten free options.
My little sister was diagnosed with celiac disease when she was three. Five years later my whole family have been gluten free with her. Staying strong for her💪🏼
Guys. Gluten is not bad for you unless you have a gluten intolorence. Before you ask what reasearch i did for this, my mother is a nutritionist, my stepmother is nutritionist, and my sister is a nutritionist. Your body can process gluten! I am not saying eat heaps of pizza or cake but a healthy serving of wholegrain pasta or bread is actually good for you!
i know i don't hate when people are on a gluten free diet but it can annoy me when people are not ether allergect or intolerent to gluten and say i can't have gluten they can but i don't hate the people who say that.
THANK YOU! I have been trying to tell all of my friends that for the longest time!! I have been gluten free for 5 years {celiac} and yet people are still not understanding
I'm gluten free, I have been for the past four years. I used to cry when I couldn't eat someone's birthday cake, but I feel so much better, my eczema has cleared and I don't miss gluten anymore
"making gluten free diets sound fun when they're actually awful" welcome to the life of someone with celiac disease. the way people treat it like it's a joke when i'll actually get really sick is more frustrating than the lack of options being an "inconvenience"
EXACTLY people act like we avoid gluten because it's healthy but its what we HAVE TO LIVE WITH and even if we come in contact with the smallest amount of gluten its horrible
Agreed. I kept walking around looking for the best price on some items but a tiny loaf of bread was around $6. We could be the healthiest people alive. Eating a whole foods diet. I went to the asian section and there were brown rice Vietnamese spring roll wraps that were only 2.99. Very good. I scrambled some eggs and made a breakfast wrap.
Rosemary It’s not just celiacs that have to avoid gluten. I’m gluten intolerant and have been my whole life. I’m not celiac cause I can handle cross contamination and small amounts of gluten.
I am gluten free and I can say that when I eat gluten I feel immensely different and a lot more weighed down. The guy who said he benefited from this probably had a small intolerance before hadn't he didn't know about and felt better on the diet. unlike the others who didn't feel any different.
I know right.! They don't understand it's a serious disease but it's nice they spread some awareness (expect the end, that was a mean ending for the gluten sensitive people)
Are, I feel the struggle, my grandma was recently diagnosed with celiac disease (although her blood test was false negative) and because it's genetic, both me and my mum got tested for it. When I eat gluten I get really bad cramping, get depressed and extremely tired and dreary. Not fun. I have also stopped loosing so much hair.
+Julia Bilska TRUUUUUE! They need to pick people that go into it with a better attitude. If you start of thinking "Oh this is going to just be the worst thing I've ever done in my life." Odds are, you aren't going to do well and you aren't going to have fun doing it at all.
Well, I am celiac and it caused me to be depressed and being excessively tired. So giving up gluten increased my energy levels to what they were suppose to be I guess, therefore the missconception that it increases you energy levels as it's not that uncommon.
yes!so true! I voluntarily went on a 30day GF diet (few more days to go!) because I have many autoimmune & gut issues(negative for celiac) and trying to see if helps to eliminate gluten. So far, I've noticed I've reduced my sugar cravings (and I'm a baker!) and hardly ever eat junk food! Either I eat fruits or just not hungry... I mostly make my own food so I avoid those prepared processed GF stuff... so far lost almost 5lbs ... my mood is strangely better since I've felt really depressed for months b4...not sure if being GF helped, but if so, great! I do miss having regular breads for subs,pizza,etc...but idk, I may extend this a lil longer...
I am dairy and gluten free and only eat white meat I have been like this for my entire life and I don't get a lot of sleep but even without a lot of sleep I'm more awake and energised then my friend who eat gluten and dairy. If you really miss bread and other gluten products there is dairy, gluten, nut and egg free breads and a lot of other products and their really good
+African Grey Parrot I read a lot about health and nutrition because I am interested in it (I also have a friend who is a nutritionist, and I asked her about this topic). Gluten is a type of protein that should be eliminated only if you have gluten sensitivity or Celiac's disease. Gluten free packaged products also tend to have more fat and calories than the 'normal' versions.
I am allergic to wheat. You guys are lucky to only eat it for one period. Imagine living with it EVERYDAY. You dont get more energy, and on the long run you dont loose weight.
Unless you're gluten intolerant there's literally no benefits to eliminating wheat based products from your diet. There's a reason that there are so many good foods that are made from wheat and not from the fake stuff, ya know?
Finding Fay I agree completely. I'm willing to be the guy who felt better and lost weight actually has the intolerance and that's why it made a difference.
Finding Fay Pretty much. Anyone who says they are feeling better it's probably because they cut the crap, didn't eat the GF crap and ate more veggies and fruit let's be real anyone who does that is going to feel better.
I have celiac and I hate when people says gluten free food sucks and stuff like that. Okay I didn't chose to be gluten free!! So now you can either encourage people and say it's okay or you can just say that is disgusting and that food is better with gluten and say pizza is good blah blah blah it makes us really sad the fact that we can't eat it and for u saying a cupcake after a month is delish is not a big deal but i have never eaten gluten and hearing that kind of stuff makes me sad, so please people try to be in someone else's situation before saying something is trash, we can't chose!
preach! nobody understands me. I'm only 13 and I've had celiac since I was 11. There was almost nothing to eat because it wasn't as big as it is now. it was extremely hard for a 6th grader to adapt. I missed half of my 6th grade because I was sick all the time. no one knew what was wrong with me then. most of my friends still dont. I hate them for that. they'll ask me if I want something that clearly has gluten in it. of course I decline, but not trying to be rude, I don't then them why to make them feel bad. they remember after a min or 2 that I can't even eat it. one of my closest friends hates all gluten free food. My nana is way to over protected of silly things but my dad is almost as bad as my friends. I'd rather eat some of what my dad made with accidental gluten then make him feel bad. Nobody really understands me. my sister recently got diagnosed but she's 8 so knows nothing. she doesn't make me feel better about it. her friends don't know about it either but her friends are probably better then my friends about it all. I'm truly disappointed in this video. some people don't have a choice. respect them. the fact that you can't handle a month, how do you think most people handle this for their whole life? Respect thwm. don't disgust the feelings for you.
I understand you, I'm 12 and I was diagnosed with celiac at age 9, I'm also Jewish so I have to eat kosher. There is almost NOTHING that's GF and kosher. Social gatherings are the worst. Once by a birthday party, everyone was eating cake while the celiac identical twins and I got cucumbers and carrots.
+marsusa I feel you (I am gluten intolerant and live gluten free as well) but as I have already eaten gluten in my life, I can tell that even though it may be hard to resist sometimes, gluten free food can often be even more delicious than "normal" food! You just need to take your time and find the right products. They only miss gluten so much bc your body gets addicted to it, just as it would get addicted to coffee or cigarettes. But eating out in public is horrible, isn't it?! There are no gluten free options at all, I can only eat fries or chinese food (if there's no soy sauce in it which contains gluten)
I realized I was gluten intolerant (stomach upset, allergic reactions) and have started cutting out gluten the last 3 weeks. I've lost 16 pounds so far! I was really denying this issue for so long because I was meant to feel like its very rare/not real. I wish I had been listening to my body since I started noticing symptoms 10 years ago.
I'm glad it got diagnosed. Same thing happened to me, I was neglecting the symptoms for almost 6 years and recently I got a proper checkup. Turns out I had celiac all long which some of the medical practitioner diagnosed as IBS. I have also lost weight since cutting down gluten, my hunch is the decrease in weight is due to the excessive bloated GI tract.
As a health advisor and personal trainer. Going gluten free is NOT the correct way to get healthy, regular exercise with a healthy and balanced diet is the best way to do it. People need to stop following trends because they've heard by someone it works.
Have you ever tried going gluten free, it's flucking awesome. it is a good way to be healthy because it forces you to kick unhealthy gluten enriched goods out of your diet. so maybe do your research.
Abby Lehr You're 13 and you're talking to a health professional. I think he did his research. You can have a very healthy diet and still eat gluten. The key is moderation and exercise. Unless you are allergic to gluten, there is no reason to completely remove it from your diet.
You guys have the pleasure of going back to gluten, where those of us who have celiac disease do not. we have to live with those adjustments and deal with poor substitutes to things we love, like pizza crust. the only thing I can say, is that I'm glad Aldi has a great line of gluten free products that very much taste a lot like the real thing. But as someone who's been struggling with (finally being diagnosed) celiac for almost 8 months, it does get easier. Though the thing I would have liked to see in this was not the things people couldn't have, but emphasis on the OTHER things they could. Or finding products that were similar so that you built it up instead of making it a hurtle to jump over.
yeah I can understand that completely. there are some days I just don't want to cook for myself. Other people get the privilege of ordering take out, while we really can't.
Willow I know what you mean I found the most amazing gluten free pizza at costo it was so delicious my friends actually loved it then suddenly they stopped selling it and put a different veggie gluten free pizza and it wasn’t as good :,(
Cutting out Gluten doesn't help you there's no proof of any form of benefit unless you are gluten intolerant. The Guy who found it helpful feels they way he did because he cut out a lot of junk foods and was probably eating smaller portions and less foods.
***** Gluten itself doesn't clog the heart you moron. The foods in which contain it do that. Maybe because you're 14 means that you don't understand that Correlation =/= causation.
+TheRealSauron G Gluten isn't like cholesterol or fat. Gluten is a protein, and will be digested just like other proteins unless you have celiac disease. It never makes it to the bloodstream.
mia morris Yes, this is true of those with celiac disease. However, celiac disease REALLY only affects around 1‰ or less of the population, and there exists mounds of evidence from reputable scientific communities that non-celiac gluten sensitivity or gluten allergy is a baseless fad riding on the coattails of people who are actually sick. Removing gluten from your diet for health reasons is pointless unless you actually have celiac disease THAT HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED BY A REAL DOCTOR.
This video always cheers me up. I'm a high schooler that was diagnosed with Celiac. And it's always comforting seeing people get frustrated over stuff like this. Because I know what it feels like to be limited. Especially since I'm also lactose intolerant. I have the really look for things to eat and bring all of my own food to sports. It's not easy, but after a while you get used to it.
I can't have anything with glutten or soy, it wrecks havoc in my body. Its really annoying to see someone act like I choose to make life harder on myself
Exactly! I feel the same way! My friend thinks my gluten allergy is all in my head when it’s not. If I have anything with gluten in it, I break out in hives/very itchy painful rash all over my arms. I want to tell him, you think I want to be in pain every time I eat? Or I asked for this to happen to my body? I understand everyone has the right to have their own opinion, I just wish he was more supportive even if we have different opinions.
As a coeliac this video is SO frustrating to watch! There's no solid evidence to suggest that eating gluten free has any benefit unless you're coeliac or intolerant. It's not a joke or a 'one month challenge'. For a hell of a lot of people it's a day to day struggle. Cross contamination wasn't even mentioned in this video, which is a huge barrier for people who ACTUALLY can't consume gluten. Ridiculous.
Alice Stubbington I agree with this so much I am a coeliac like for heavens sake I have to have my own toaster from my family’s. The most annoying part was how they showed them getting off the diet and being like this is sooo good and mot acknowledging that there is people who can’t just go off the diet I have been gf for 7 years and will be for the rest of my life
unless you have celiac disease, gluten-free diet in itself is pretty pointless. Obviously, alot of calorie-rich foods like cupcakes, pizza contain gluten so if you cut it out, youre obviously gonna lose weight. the point is to just control your diet overall and exercise. its not bad to eat bread in a controlled manner as long as you don't overdo it, you won't gain weight. oh, and EXERCISE is key as well
being gluten free even when you don't have celiac is pretty easy, awesome, and is not pointless. having the option to eat cupcakes and pizza and gluten enriched foods means that you only have self control to rely on and that isn't easy for some people, when you cut it out of your diet and get rid of the foods that have gluten from your fridge or pantry, it's and extra kick in the butt to be healthier and make better choices. I'm 13 and I have been struggling with my weight for a while and this has made me feel better and more healthy. I definitely recommend it.
abby it does nothing unless you have celiac or you have a sensitivity (which is mostly mental and doesnt actually exist) or youre being effected by the placebo effect, you lose weight due to mal nutrition because youre not getting what your body needs most, of course unless you ACTUALLY have celiac disease.... its pointless, trust me my dad has celiac so im pretty educated on this
+Christopher Petersen I got diagnosed with coeliac 1 year ago even though i have had it all my life without knowing but a constant belly ache for over 2 years , ive never been able to gain weight and was always the small , skinny child in my class . after the diet ive gained a good and healthy amount of weight but my diet is a pain . i wouldn't believe it was a trend , i couldn't believe someone would put themself in that torture without force :|
Christopher Petersen I have found that true , much more cafe's and supermarkets are producing more gluten-free food . Let's just hope it becomes less expensive aswell , as technically they are adding less ingredients !
I found this video annoying because it felt like the whole tone of the video was emphasizing how hard being on a gluten-free diet can be and there was no mention of the wide range of brands that exist, that many restaurants have gluten-free options, etc. I am 26 and I have been gluten-free because I have celiac disease since I was 14 and YES being completely gluten-free is hard and inconvenient but there are so many options out there to eat. I would like to know what brands they were eating because not all GF food is good, but Schar, Udis, Glutino, Three Bakers, Katz and Kinnikinnick are just a fraction of really good gluten free brands that does everything from bread, muffins, donuts, cookies, prepared meals, etc. Also, companies like Pillsbury, Tyson, General mills, Bertolli and Kraft all have gluten free products and most grocery stores like Aldis, Trader Joes, etc have a store brand GF products.
I have used several products where I gained no results. My condition has been handled by the vitiligo remedy *4VitiligoCure. Com* which gave me excellent outcomes. At first, the white spots started to fade and ultimately long gone forever. I am looking forward to getting fast results from my other body parts since development of spots from my hand might take more time. This is a true and tried treatment method to your ailment..
I’m so glad that you guys got to experience what it is like for me and other people every day. I have Celiac and I was diagnosed when I was 5. I’m glad no one got hurt because some people have to eat wheat for nutrition. Any way hope you enjoyed it!
How about they try 30 days without social media? That includes RUclips, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, Snapchat, Whisper, MySpace and anything else of that category.
Yeah, I wouldn't be able to do it, but I have to survive it on Ramadan so I don't break my fast. It's worse than the no eating or drinking rule in my opinion
once you get used to it it isn't so bad at all, it just sucks to feel left out at restaurants or eating with friends. so it's more social for me than the actual food.
I'm American, and I'm sick of people saying America is "the stupidest country in the world." Personally, I think Europe is the stupidest country in the world.
+Emily Kindred Look for alternatives! x Here in Germany there's a lot of gluten free pizza bases etc. And sometimes/often you won't be able to tell the difference (my boyfriend eats gluten but can never tell whether the meals I make are gluten free or not)! The only real problem (for me) is eating out. It can be so frustrating when there's all the people eating all this delicious food! But remember: You're not alone and you're doing the best for your body and your health by sticking to your gluten free diet :)
Know how you feel! here in Ireland there is one good GF pizza brand and dominos do an amazing GF pizza and know how to handle cross contamination so iv never gotten sick :)
im gluten free too and it sucks sometimes :( but because of it, I have learned to cook and actually enjoy trying out new gluten free recipes and finding alternatives that are actually delicious (unlike a lot of the store bought food). I've found a lot of my favorite recipes on youtube (like the amazing cinnamon rolls I found and adapted the recipe to be gluten free!), so I'm sure there is a good one for gluten free pizza somewhere on here!
me too I'm 15 and I'm doing gluten free diet since 12 it so hard you know when you are out with friends and they are eating all those delicious food and you are like ready to cry..
+keanny avila yeah I'm 13 and I've been gluten free since I was 7 it gets better honestly I wouldn't go back to eating gluten even if I had the option I'm SO much healthier
I got diagnosed with coeliac disease (in New Zealand we spell celiac as coeliac) last year and I miss so much food but I feel much better now! I would advise that you only go gluten free if you need to :)
If you do not have a gluten sensitivity or celiacs you will not see a change, except that you have spent more money on gluten free foods. Gluten free food also tends to have extra sugar in it. I know people with celiacs and gluten sensitivity/intolerance, they pay the price big time if they eat it it.
+Jennifer Wells I can attest to paying the price, I have celiac and if I eat gluten, I'm basically in bed sick for a day because my body can't digest it and it makes me super sick
+African Grey Parrot You won't be healthier unless you have one of the above mentioned conditions. And these people lost weight because they couldn't find enough food to eat since they had no guidance and didn't cook at home. As I said, gluten free comes with more sugar added.. that is not healthier or better for you. However, if someone does have one of those conditions it is imperative that they find gluten free options because it causes them a variety of health problems. Swapping donuts made with wheat flour with donuts made with rice flour is not magically healthier for you. And those with the gluten issues also have to skip things like beer due to the barley.
If you have a gluten intolerance or celiac, going gluten free is great for you. Otherwise, doesn't really do much. Gluten is not evil, plenty of people digest it and get nutrition from gluten-filled foods with absolutely no problems.
It works like that half the time. Pizza is someones favourite food? They probably order or make it like a lot. If you eat something a lot you're more likely to like that food than something you've only had like once or twice.
Not really, you eat pizza more because you like it, not the other way. Also, I love pizza, but I eat it once a month or so because I'm not an animal, I know where to stop and when I can let myself order a pizza.
Things have changed so much. Today I had a gluten free pizza and cookies and they were both great. I got them from a Walmart in Oregon for less than $10 total and they’re as good or even better than their regular counterparts AND I don’t feel sick after eating them! I’m thankful that this has gotten so much more recognition even if it’s because it’s been a fad diet
Hey guys, hey, it's ok my dad has had celiac for a while now and one of the places where we used to get pizza started serving gluten free pizza, my dad and I really enjoy it, and it tastes good ( p.s I recommend ordering it with some white/regular onions, it adds more flavor to the pizza and the cruse
+ana sawie Every gluten free pizza crust I've had that's pre-made has been terrible. Make gluten free pizza at home. It's soooo much better. Make a thick batter and add yeast for flavor in addition to the baking powder/soda. Bake that without any toppings until it's almost done. Take it out and add toppings, bake until the toppings are done. Being Celiac doesn't have to mean giving up good Pizza, it just means more effort.
Wow, well let me tell you it's been hard for me eating gluten for 28 years of my life and cutting it all out so suddenly! :( So maybe it's good you won't know what u r really missing out on?
I tried it and it didn't magically help me lose weight or any of the other magical properties people purport the gluten-free lifestyle to imbue. I will say that as a travel photographer - when I am in France I tend to lose weight despite eating TONS of bread. The reason for that is that the bread there is far less processed and most importantly most of it doesn't include all of the hidden sugar in American bread. Which also brings me to a point that many gluten-free breads are PACKED with sugar :(.
I've been gluten free ever since I was 8 (6 years) and it's actually not as bad as they made it out to be. Having celiac and being gf is something that changed my life for the better
Emma Benning I dont see why it can change anyone's life for the better EXCEPT that they experience horrible symptoms. I'm celiac without symptoms (yesss we existttttt! :D) and gluten free has changed nothing the way I feel.I just do it for my poor intestines
ElleSophi Have you tried any of her gluten free foods? Most of the ones I've tried are terrible. I feel bad for anyone who has to be on a gluten free diet!
ElleSophi Have you tried Glutino for sandwhich bread? It's fluffier and cooks better than most other GF brands (and it's cheaper than Udis, Rudi's, and Kinnicikcaid or however that's spelled.) There are a lot of breadmixes that are good right out of the oven, if you do it right. Though I admit, I'd pay a thousand dollars to eat a loaf of gluten bread...
unsocializedhomeschooler I live in England so we have something called Genius bread - it isn't the same as normal bread but it's a really great alternative. She still misses her take away pizza and such though!
Talia Fore I have! We have amazing brownies from a supermarket called Tesco, they taste better than ordinary brownies XD Maybe it's just where I live but the cakes, etc are fairly decent!
Seriuosly??? I'm just wheat intolerant, so i never thought about that Do you really have to pay attention at soap and shampoo? Isn't just something to do with the digesting process?
Amen. I once had a hairdresser wash my hair with wheat germ shampoo, and hours later, after it had been washed out, I had a migraine so bad that I couldn't even get up. That being said, so many things CAN be used, and are wonderful.
The gluten can be absorbed into your skin. I was being tested for celiac's once so I had to do research and change a bunch of stuff. Luckily I don't have it, but gluten is in a lot of stuff. Including certain brands of gum!
This is a personal decision that each of us can make, but science indicates that gluten in shampoo and cosmetics is not a threat to those with celiac disease - except for those that may be easily ingested, like lipstick or potentially hand lotion. Researchers have found that unless you have a deep and open wound, gluten cannot absorbed through the skin making topical items acceptable for use. (A quick reminder: don’t forget to wash your hands after applying a gluten-containing hair or cosmetic product to avoid any unintentional ingestion.) If you have a reaction to a cosmetic or toiletry, consider an alternate culprit like an allergic reaction.
Any celiacs or gluten intolerant people here? 🙋🏻 Do you also hate it when people go on a gluten free diet without having a medical need for it, I mean....we have to go without gluten and we don't have a choice, make the most of it please!
Why would it bother you though? I eat so many things that contain gluten but I don't understand why there are so many celiacs getting annoyed that people don't eat gluten. Like it doesn't effect you in the slightest lol
+Florence it doesn't bother most people what others eat. it's just what they think of people who can eat gluten. sometimes we envy them. In shorter words, it hard for someone to understand unless your in their shoes.
+king nether They would never survive my food allergy list. It's daunting, and I just got hit with a whole new set of additions to my triggers list last summer. I'm allergic to wheat, dairy, soy, vegetable oils and even olive oil, and a crapton of migraine allergies. I know there are people out there who can eat even less than me, but it's not many and it really makes me roll my eyes when people CHOOSE to eat gluten-free and they don't have to. What a luxury that must be.
+tirsden Definitely feel you here. My little brother is 9, and he has allergies to wheat, rice, dairy, soy, eggs, potentially fish, and anaphylactic to peanuts, cashews and pistachios, with a food phobia or aversion on top. He won't eat fruit or vegetables (besides potatoes and cauliflower soup). He also has a condition called eosinophilic oesophogitis, which is similar to celiac, except when he eats something he is allergic to, his immune system attack his esophagus, which damages it over time. He could eventually need to have a feeding tube in. People act like being gluten free, vegan or vegetarian is the end of the world, but it really isn't. There is always someone else worse off than you are. While both you and my brother suffer, at least the two of you aren't allergic to water. I'm vegetarian going vegan by choice, and while it's hard, and while it isn't impossible, it isn't easy either, but again, not the end of the world. I can still eat oreos and chocolate for now, i can have all the fruit I want, and chips and all sorts of nice things.
+tirsden ikr!!! I have a friend who went and the other day she was at mcdonalds eating nuggets and fries and i asked her about the gf diet she was doing and she said yeah well I don't always follow it aghhsgsgha
+tirsden right?! like seriously?! my brother has a gluten sensitivity and half the time I forget he does because he can still eat so many things!! I doubt they'd last long on my diet of 3 prices of gum a day and the rest from a feeding tube
I've also found it easy to find gluten free or dairy free foods, but not foods that are free of both allergens. I haven't had 'normal' food in 4 years. My friends think I'm a warrior but it is actually fairly easy living with allergies (except for the allergic reactions).
J-Trident of Gold Bolt of Light-J totally get this, my mom has allergies to gluten, dairy, egg, green pepper, and soy. almost next to impossible for her to eat out.
Kennedy Griffin Wow. I'm so glad to hear someone else other than me and my mom has a big list of allergies. I am allergic to tomatoes, onions/garlic and all the relatives, parsley/cilantro, rosemary, eggs, citrus, cucumbers, watermelons, melons, and I have celiacs. It sucks so much.
I have celiac disease and deal with this everyday. People that go “gluten free” bugs me sometimes. I’ve had celiac disease for around 10 years now. I am 12 years old. And it has definitely been a daily struggle. At birthday parties I have to bring my own food. My own little cupcake. But after a while u get used to it. And it isn’t like oops I ate gluten my diets messed up. It’s like oh no I’m constantly throwing up for a week.
i honestly feel like a lot of buzzfeed ppl struggle with the food changes because they are so used to BUYING all their food and not cooking their own things? i tried lowering my intake of gluten for a while to see if thats what was causing my IBS and it isnt THAT hard...like yes it can be annoying but you can cook a perfectly good healthy filling meal that has basically no gluten..
yeahhhh but you need money for that. gluten free isnt cheap. i would gladly go whip something up. im getting tested for celiac about next month too by my doctor. i normally avoid gluten myself as much as i can becuase i know if i eat bannanas instead il feel better. but then i get hungry and eat whatever i have in the house because im always hungry. my brother works at a coffe shop and brings home tons of pastries and thats normally all there is to eat too.
aww thank you!!! to be honest i have boiled it down to stress...it acts up the most with stress.. i tend to buy lactose free dairy products cause i just dont like unsweetened almond milk and buying it sweetened just defeats the purpose of it being healthier. I lead a very active life style (With some luls but you know as is life) so i havent been able to see food wise what causes it (i know sometimes dry pasta does so thats why i went gluten free for a bit...but it affects me sporadically) so im guessing its emotional : /
Food is definitely part of it but you're spot on, emotions and stress play just as big if not more of a role in things. =) You can eat perfect but if you're stressed it ruins everything. It sounds like you're doing awesome, good for you! I live in France and I'm vegan and the food choices in the grocery stores aren't that great so I make most things from scratch (even when I wasn't vegan I had too) but after searching for ages I finally found almond milk which happens to be unsweetened. If I'm having it by itself or with a non-sweetened cereal I add a tiny bit of Cassonade sugar and it fixes everything. Cassonade sugar is pretty similar to "sugar in the raw" in the states but it has larger granules and I think it's less refined and a tiny bit really goes a long way. A lot of people also make their own non-dairy milks and cheeses too. I've had some amazing nut cheeses! (I know it sounds gross or weird but they are amazing!) It's really about what you like and feel works for you. Something I've noticed about IBS is everyone has different food triggers so it's hard to know what will work for someone food wise but emotions always play a role (a well as physical stress on the body like chronic pain). Have an awesome day and keep up the good work, Cheers! =)
+AdraicStarks its so during your day when you're working, moving around ect your foods light and easy to digest and when you get home you can eat heavier foods like pasta etc
Oh yeah because that's a greeeaat diet, ugh free lee is the worst vegan I know of she gives vegan such a bad name and she influences so many people with her unscientific way of life and frutarianism
+Jaclyn Alvarez *I started WeightLossGreenStoretea three weeks ago and I have come down in weight in that time, I am feeling a lot slimmer and excited to see how much more weight I can lose over the next couple of months. There are a lot ways to reduce your weight you just need to find the method that works for you. I have definitely found mine!!*
2 years and and it's a wheat allergy and nut allergy so it sucks so hard. If I eat wheat, I throw up or get hives and other allergic reactions. So my life sucks because of it but at least I know I'm eating healthy!
I got diagnosed with celiac at age 6, haven't had gluten since. Also I don't think the people really cared or even checked the diet. Like they were eating and using stuff with gluten. If I don't check a single thing, I risk getting extremely sick.
I have celiac and sometimes it feels like we don't get many options. I'm very glad you guys tried this and kind of understand how its like to have to watch out for whats in your food. Thanks for shining some light on this. 😊
gluten doesn't make any difference in health. there are people who actually have celiac (and it is a relatively rare condition) these are the only people who benefit from a gluten-free diet. any "changes" they experience in this is simply placebo effect at work. or other factors that have nothing to do with gluten intake.
I was crippled with pain my Dr did 3 tests and biopsies came back celiacs disease I'm devastated! I haven't eaten the gluten in 5 days I'm able to walk again but still don't feel too good. I'm wondering how long before I undo the damage of years of crappie eating.
I was diagnosed with Lupus a couple years ago and since I started just limiting my gluten intake I found that my flare ups became less of an issue and I sometimes barely remember I have it. Im going to try to go completely gluten free because I was just diagnosed with Hashimotos. To anyone who is going through a similar situation know that the fight is long but the road to feeling good again will lead to sweet victory. Sadly we dont have a cure for Lupus (nor do I think we do for Hashimotos) but it doesn't mean you should give up hope or stop fighting!❤
It's weird seeing other people's reactions to a gluten free diet...I myself have Celiac Disease and am perfectly content with what I am able to eat, because if you look for it, there are thousands of different companies that offer gluten free options.
I'm sorry but I live on a gluten free diet for six years because of my Celiac and I'm very much happy. The is a gluten free options for pretty much every thing. So life without gluten isn't life without happiness…
I don’t have celiac disease but if I eat bread I will always have back and knee pain the next day. Wouldn’t be noticeable if my job wasn’t so physically demanding. It definitely slows my recovery time.
I was recently diagnosed with celiacs and I watched this video to see how it wouldn’t be so bad because surely everyone will love going gluten free... they all hated gluten free. Now I am like semi-depressed. Thanks Buzzfeed
I have one friend who is gluten intolerant (not celiac, but incredibly allergic), and I cannot stand how much she criticizes everyone around her for not also being gluten free. I tried it for a while, almost half a year in fact. I gained weight, felt more tired, and became mildly intolerant to gluten myself. I've since switched back, slowly adding it back into my diet, and I'm much better off. If you want to lose weight and gain energy, just do a low-carb diet (or really any diet you can follow that limits your calories and sugar intake) and exercise. I've found it's way easier to do both together than just one or the other, as exercise helps curb your hunger while dieting helps manage your energy. Anyway, the point is, I get the frustration of people who need to be gluten free. I understand why it's so important for you, but please don't be like my friend and claim baselessly that no one in the world should eat gluten ever. A lot of the science around the gluten free craze is junk science.
StyxTBuferd Honestly so true. Gluten free diets should only be for the people that can't eat it without getting sick. My brother was diagnosed with celiac a long time ago and we found out that if someone not intolerant to it goes on the diet it really doesn't make anything better or healthier.
StyxTBuferd totally agree! I'll never understand the people who continue to push gluten-free on non-celiac/intolerant people. Most times, it just causes them to lose the energy they were getting from carbs since they don't increase fruit/veg intake to offset the gluten-free products. An internet full of knowledge gone to waste -smh-
I'm not sure why people would expect to lose weight by not eating gluten. A cupcake is still a cupcake, regardless of what flour you use. If you want to feel awesome and lose weight fast and without effort, try a wholefood vegan diet for a month.
+Insecure Potato Sodium and chloride (NaCl = table salt) are both essential nutrients with a ton of functions. Sodium in particular is one of the most widely used minerals in the body. Without it, your kidneys and heart would fail. Stomach acid is made of hydrogen and chloride (HCL). Chloride also plays a major role in the nervous system. In your teacher's case, she likely has high blood pressure/ atherosclerosis and doesn't take very good care of her body. It's important to take nutrition seriously. In today's world, eating without a basic understanding of food is playing Russian Roulette with your health.
While yes, salt is needed in our bodies, it is nearly impossible for the average person to get too little salt. Most people are not supposed to go below 500mg of sodium a day, some can go into the 100's. For perspective, a large stalk of celery has 50mg of natural sodium (yes it is one of the higher vegetable sources of sodium, but I am trying to prove a point.) Typically people get low serum sodium from other causes, such as edema or prolonged vomiting/diarrhea.
I went gluten free after losing so much weight. I was chronic fatigue and always moody, and now I realized that I was intolerant to it, I feel alive again. I thought I was sick, but I was really just posioning my body with these things. they make almost everything gluten free, and the hardest times are at events or restaurants, but other than that, you get use to feeling left out and unsure of what to eat sometimes. I'm just happy my stomach isn't constantly aching though...
I remember watching this video a couple of years ago and thinking WOW i could never do that..yet now I haven't eaten gluten in 2 months and I feel AMAZING. I think the only people that really love gluten free diets are the ones that actually had digestive issues to begin with when they used to eat gluten. I had difficulties with bloating, stomach aches...everything. Now that I don't eat gluten I feel thinner, healthier, and happier :)
For someone who was diagnosed with Celiac Disease when I was a baby this was really funny to watch. I've gone through this for a long time and once you find the right foods and good places to go and eat, it's a lot easier. Friends who understand that you can't eat certain things help too. The food is SUPER expensive though. 😂 (Also, my mom makes great Gluten free pizza with crust that looks just like the Gluten kind. 😋 🍕)

It kind of upsets me at times that this is a trend because for some people being gluten free is serious. I was diagnosed with celiac at 6-7 years old and have been gluten free for over half my life because if I don't my body gets weak and I become ill. I understand that it can be healthier but some people (not necessarily you all) just think of it as a trend lifestyle but for some its crucial. It was very hard when I was younger because there was next to no gluten free options so I always had to have home-cooked food or make things myself.
Gluten is not bad for you unless you have celiac. There is something called wheat allergy though, which is when you are allergic to the carbs in wheat and not the actual protein (gluten).
I'm not gluten intolerant and normally have zero issues eating it, but have so much sympathy for people who are! I was temporarily "gluten intolerant" after a 2-week course of antibiotics (probably temporarily killed off whatever gut flora digested gluten) and oh man it was awful. Lasted about a month before I could finally eat wheat again without horrible stomach pain.
Being one of the 0.2% of people in North America that actually suffers from celiac disease( diagnosed in 1982) I can say that the reason you feel healthier is because you are eating a healthier diet by avoiding trying to avoid gluten. If you don't suffer from Celiacs disease you're body will not have troubles processing them, their are thousands of healthy foods with gluten in them. One good thing for me is with the hipster gluten free trend it sure is easier finding foods that I could only dream of eating 20 years ago.
DragX Gaming I'm whit you! It's not just something you do for fun a month, it's an actuall struggle to find food. Specially if you combind it with other alergies
First Months: *ABSOLUTE TORTURE!* Friend: Puts cake into mouth Me: **Death Glare** Middle Months: Meh... I still miss Junk food.... Friend: eats pizza Me: **stares longingly** Now: SO WORTH IT! IMMA EAT SOME GLUTE FREE CAKE! Friend: eats brownie Me: Ew filthy gluten...
Gluten actually isn’t digestible to humans, apparently people waaaay back didn’t have issues with gluten because when making bread a certain process was done, I think it’s fermentation which makes it more digestible. Gluten affects some people’s digestive system more than others, but celiac disease is different, gluten can destroy the intestines and can lead to malnutrition, colon cancer or even death. With me it’s constant constipation sometimes for weeks, no energy, depressing feelings, tummy aches, migraines, extreme bloating, nausea, loss of appetite due to bloating, and poop that smells like it’s been in my intestines for years, blood in stool sometimes no stool but blood drops... I used to think I needed more fiber and would start a more fiber filled diet but end up still being severely constipated, it’s only recently I found out I’m gluten sensitive and I’m getting better
I can't eat gluten because it makes me curl up in a ball of extreme pain, but not eating glutenous foods makes like about 70% less interesting. Also, gluten free cupcakes are dry and gross.
All gf food is gross. The first time I ate pizza after I got celiac tasted like cardboard. Except cardboard prob had more taste.
Conan! I luv u😚
tayte kozlowski So true! I found out I was allergic to gluten about 6months ago. All the biscuits are like sugar soil / sand...
He lost weight not because of gluten. He lost weight because he avoided crappy food that contained gluten.
True true
Yeah I know
Celiac and the absence of gluten has
Caused me to gain weight. I exercise super heavily and I eat super healthy and I only gain. I should loose a little
Fat you would think.
Hey there are a lot more options for u as a result of the fad diet.
I'm a celiac also and this annoys me soooo much😒😒
I also have celiac disease and I totally agree! If I could eat it, I would. In fact, I think I ate healthier when I was eating gluten (before triggering of celiac gene) because I am too lazy to cook for myself and eat a lot of packaged gf foods (which are NOT healthier than their gluten counterparts).
rip anyone with celiac :' ( I've been on this diet for 5 years and I still get pouty when I have to turn down free cake
jouga same I have celiac :(
Yup
I have celiac disease
You get used to it eventually
Luckily I hate cake :)
I'm a celiac, and we do nOt get more energy or healthier food! ...it doesn't make you healthier...like seriously...ask a celiac
preach!
+Lee Peters same tho
+Emily R it might not be the same
in the USA because idk where your from lol but in the uk there is gluten free isles where you can get pasta and all kinds of things in the super markets
+Elicia Baldwin in the USA, every grocery store that you walk into has a gluten free isle ☺️
+Elicia Baldwin oops I tagged the wrong person sorry!
one of the upsides to the gluten-free trend is that people who are actually intolerant to gluten have way more options. my brother hasn't had gluten in years and he said that this trend, as much as people may find it useless, has really made a difference in terms of what's available for him now!
Its so true. I'm actually surprised how much is available in some stores. Before that I'm sure you'd have to make it yourself.
Staying strong for her💪🏼
I don’t like it when I see these videos because I’ve been celiac all my life and they are complaining about 30 days
“It’s such an inconvenience” bruh tell me about it. When he ate the pizza at the end 😭
It makes me mad bc they can eat it and they choose not to likes it’s not fair the rest of us can’t
Same, they started pouting but I've been doing this since childhood
@@sydney354 me too
ikr
+Alex McCarthy hey, can you please help me? I think I have gluten intolerance and I have no ideas for everyday meals and snacks.
+Marya I have a gluten intolerance, if you email me I might be able to help too
+Lauren Sabia please do, it's idiotxnationx@gmail.com
I'm gluten free, I have been for the past four years. I used to cry when I couldn't eat someone's birthday cake, but I feel so much better, my eczema has cleared and I don't miss gluten anymore
11 years gf, i only miss good pizza
"making gluten free diets sound fun when they're actually awful" welcome to the life of someone with celiac disease. the way people treat it like it's a joke when i'll actually get really sick is more frustrating than the lack of options being an "inconvenience"
EXACTLY people act like we avoid gluten because it's healthy but its what we HAVE TO LIVE WITH and even if we come in contact with the smallest amount of gluten its horrible
We still have everything normal people can have just gluten free.
Yeah I barely found out I have celiac and I hate when ppl think it’s a choice when in reality we’re just trying not to get sick from it.
I am gluten free and I can say that when I eat gluten I feel immensely different and a lot more weighed down. The guy who said he benefited from this probably had a small intolerance before hadn't he didn't know about and felt better on the diet. unlike the others who didn't feel any different.
Non you're a hipster attention seeking moron. Like all gluten free wankers.
Either Buzzfeed has tons of free food every month or so, or they are just trying to torture the people doing these life eating habits.
Isolated S Ikr.
Ikr 😂
Isolated S both maybe?
While this may be torture for you, its my life and the life of many others
Simmer down princess.
At the end the guy is saying "GLUTEN IS SO GOOOD" I feel bad for the gluten free people watching this.
Yes.....
...ᵞᴱᴾ
yeah i hate school lunches even more now. only thing my school serves GF is asian chicken and salad.
I have a gluten intolerance
Yea I can't have that much food and I. Have lime dicease too
I hate how being gluten free is a fad now. I don't eat gluten because I break out eczema that won't go away for 4 weeks.
yep, same. it's the eczema
Give it a try for a good amount of time. Bone up on what ingredients are glutenous, and look up what foods gluten hides in.
I know right.! They don't understand it's a serious disease but it's nice they spread some awareness (expect the end, that was a mean ending for the gluten sensitive people)
+WittowBudduh SAME
Are, I feel the struggle, my grandma was recently diagnosed with celiac disease (although her blood test was false negative) and because it's genetic, both me and my mum got tested for it. When I eat gluten I get really bad cramping, get depressed and extremely tired and dreary. Not fun. I have also stopped loosing so much hair.
Any fellow celiacs🙋🏽
Mini Makeup403 🙋🏼
Mini Makeup403 hello 👋🏼
Mini Makeup403 meeeeee
Heyy, I am coeliac too😂
🙋🏼
Pleas do a 30-day vegan 2.0 because the last one realy sucks.
Yesss
+Julia Bilska TRUUUUUE! They need to pick people that go into it with a better attitude. If you start of thinking "Oh this is going to just be the worst thing I've ever done in my life." Odds are, you aren't going to do well and you aren't going to have fun doing it at all.
Emily Hoffman Yea!
Any vegan diet sucks lol
+Nick R not if you eat right
The reason people feel better on a gluten free diet is because they eat less junk food.
If you really miss bread and other gluten products there is dairy, gluten, nut and egg free breads and a lot of other products and their really good
I didn't eat any junk food to begin with so it just made things a whole lot worse to go gluten free
I am not supposed to eat the following eggs milk gluten😐
Unless you have some degree of gluten intolerance, gluten is not a bad thing!
What research did you do to make that statement?
+African Grey Parrot I read a lot about health and nutrition because I am interested in it (I also have a friend who is a nutritionist, and I asked her about this topic). Gluten is a type of protein that should be eliminated only if you have gluten sensitivity or Celiac's disease. Gluten free packaged products also tend to have more fat and calories than the 'normal' versions.
+violinplayer101 OMG the crap they put in some gluten free breads! I gave up and just started making my own (load smore fun anyway!)
+Deborah Hall I love homemade bread! It makes the house smell wonderful and is so much more tasty than bread from the store :D
this is true it does not cause weight gain like most believe
I am allergic to wheat. You guys are lucky to only eat it for one period. Imagine living with it EVERYDAY. You dont get more energy, and on the long run you dont loose weight.
I'm pretty sure the weight loss is due to not eating bread and cutting down carbs in general; it's not really the gluten itself.
+Germs0o Yep, I agree with that
I think it's just cause lots of Buzzfeed members eat too much fast food
They couldn't have free donuts so that helps
True but people don't think that deep they are acting like dummy's to these companies.
@@elvisleeboy Wrong. You’re uninformed.
Unless you're gluten intolerant there's literally no benefits to eliminating wheat based products from your diet. There's a reason that there are so many good foods that are made from wheat and not from the fake stuff, ya know?
Yup. The reason these people lost weight is because they cut out junk sugars like donuts and cupcakes.
Finding Fay Instead they should be trying a vegan diet :)
Yeah it makes more sense to go glutin free if your body can't handle it
I have celiac and I hate when people says gluten free food sucks and stuff like that.
+Elena Gallardo i feel you! And it's really annoying i have been celiac for 15 years now..
+Geheim Agent 613 i feel you i have been celiac for 15 years and i have a lot of stories where i am 'left out' it really is the worst
Abby Lehr have you ever tried just eating healthy and exercising? It's GREAT and is really healthy for your body. Do your research first.
Abby Lehr You're 13 and you're talking to a health professional. I think he did his research. You can have a very healthy diet and still eat gluten. The key is moderation and exercise. Unless you are allergic to gluten, there is no reason to completely remove it from your diet.
Abby Lehr Unless you have a gluten allergy, eating foods with gluten in moderation won't negatively affect your health.
Amen
+Willow You should try the Schär brand bread mix to make pizza dough. It's bomb af!
celiac gets easier but harder at the same time. I've been a celiac for 9 years and I'm just tired of dealing with it
yeah I can understand that completely. there are some days I just don't want to cook for myself. Other people get the privilege of ordering take out, while we really can't.
Willow I know what you mean I found the most amazing gluten free pizza at costo it was so delicious my friends actually loved it then suddenly they stopped selling it and put a different veggie gluten free pizza and it wasn’t as good :,(
Willow the coffee cake and red velvet cupcakes are nice enough
Cutting out Gluten doesn't help you there's no proof of any form of benefit unless you are gluten intolerant. The Guy who found it helpful feels they way he did because he cut out a lot of junk foods and was probably eating smaller portions and less foods.
That's because most unhealthy foods like pizza, burgers, etc have gluten in it
***** Gluten itself doesn't clog the heart you moron.
+Allan Reford or placebo effect or something
This video always cheers me up. I'm a high schooler that was diagnosed with Celiac. And it's always comforting seeing people get frustrated over stuff like this. Because I know what it feels like to be limited. Especially since I'm also lactose intolerant. I have the really look for things to eat and bring all of my own food to sports. It's not easy, but after a while you get used to it.
Gluten. Is. Not. Bad.
Unless you have been diagnosed by a medical professional and they said to stop eating gluten, it's not bad for you!
lionthieves imagining that with pearl's voice
Lol why would pearl say that 😆😆
idk it sounds like she would. but hey i only watched to like ep 15
lionthieves Your avatar makes the post better, thanks for making my day. XD
wolvesrfun :)
I can't have anything with glutten or soy, it wrecks havoc in my body. Its really annoying to see someone act like I choose to make life harder on myself
Nancy Kamuzora i just learned that my body hates soy.
Same here and its VERY frustrating!
Ridiculous.
Alice Stubbington So true!!! Contamination is like, the hardest part!
Alice Stubbington I agree with this so much I am a coeliac like for heavens sake I have to have my own toaster from my family’s. The most annoying part was how they showed them getting off the diet and being like this is sooo good and mot acknowledging that there is people who can’t just go off the diet I have been gf for 7 years and will be for the rest of my life
Agree 💯
I stopped eating wheat and the aches in my legs went away. Now i can walk without pain and aches. Pretty amazing.
unless you have celiac disease, gluten-free diet in itself is pretty pointless.
definitely recommend it.
EXXACTLY.
Sorry this bugs the crap out of me since I have Celiac but it's Celiac not Celiac's! Sorry for quick rant
kuiyeondae yeah but most people can't think for themselves
abby it does nothing unless you have celiac or you have a sensitivity (which is mostly mental and doesnt actually exist) or youre being effected by the placebo effect, you lose weight due to mal nutrition because youre not getting what your body needs most, of course unless you ACTUALLY have celiac disease.... its pointless, trust me my dad has celiac so im pretty educated on this
I love how Celiac disease became trendy
+Christopher Petersen I got diagnosed with coeliac 1 year ago even though i have had it all my life without knowing but a constant belly ache for over 2 years , ive never been able to gain weight and was always the small , skinny child in my class . after the diet ive gained a good and healthy amount of weight but my diet is a pain . i wouldn't believe it was a trend , i couldn't believe someone would put themself in that torture without force :|
mia morris I think people do it because they think it's a weightloss diet
It's annoying for the people who don't have it but for people who do it's really good
My Story As Zoe I think it's great how the quality of foods gotten a lot better, or at least there's a bigger diversity of food
Thats precisely why I stopped watching the video and went to read the comment section instead
Dude they work at buzzfeed..
MySpace? Good one bud!
Whats a myspace?
ThisisAlan It's their job. 30 days of no social media is 30 days of no money. Haha!
Yes we need this!
Have people do a vegan diet
Summer Midyett why? why should vegan diet be forced onto people?
XtrAMassivE She isn't saying that it should be forced upon people, she is saying that they should have people try it.
XtrAMassivE calm down dude
XtrAMassivE there not really forcing them lol . They sign up for it. So they wanted to try it! Just an FYI lol
You are too cruel
DO 30 DAYS WITHOUT MUSIC
I would probably die tbh
I'll probably be OK , but I'll be dying inside .
Yeah, I wouldn't be able to do it, but I have to survive it on Ramadan so I don't break my fast. It's worse than the no eating or drinking rule in my opinion
I cannot live without signing or music even for a day so I would also probably die
I don't even hear music xD like never. I just don't find the point of it, just sit, and hear. no thanks I prefer videogaming :)
Shy Shinning singing**
I was diagnosed when I was a baby and grew up with Celiac. It's not so bad.
once you get used to it it isn't so bad at all, it just sucks to feel left out at restaurants or eating with friends. so it's more social for me than the actual food.
Same. I don't struggle if I am eating at home and stuff but as soon as I go to a restaurant or eat with friends I feel sad that I can't eat Gluten
Kenzie Brandon same
Same however I find it hard
ADAMX same
I'm American, and I'm sick of people saying America is "the stupidest country in the world."
Personally, I think Europe is the stupidest country in the world.
Touching Things what does that have to do with the video?
Touching Things Country? Stupidest "country"?
Touching Things LOL some people don't get the joke
E. Fournier you are feeding the troll XD
Touching Things LOL good one.
I love pizza! I'm gluten free. Some days I'm so frustrated that I cry. I hate being allergic to wheat!
+Emily Kindred Look for alternatives! x
Here in Germany there's a lot of gluten free pizza bases etc.
Same
me too I'm 15 and I'm doing gluten free diet since 12 it so hard you know when you are out with friends and they are eating all those delicious food and you are like ready to cry..
please they only did it for 30 days. i have to do it for my WHOLE LIFE!!! and im barley 14!!
I have Celiac, and I just laughed very much at your "barley" typo. Pun intended? Best of luck to you, I was diagnosed at eleven, so your not alone :)
Grape the struggles for us is very real 😑
so do i....I'm not fully celiac. I have nonceliac gluten sensitivity.
+keanny avila yeah I'm 13 and I've been gluten free since I was 7 it gets better honestly I wouldn't go back to eating gluten even if I had the option I'm SO much healthier
#glutenfreesquad✌😂
You will also lose weight and be healthier. Forgot that 😉
+African Grey Parrot You won't be healthier unless you have one of the above mentioned conditions.
Corn meal, quinoa, grits, brown rice and sweet potatoes for me. I don't see how your statement applies to me. Am I special? Am I spartan or something?
If you have a gluten intolerance or celiac, going gluten free is great for you. Otherwise, doesn't really do much.
Gluten is not evil, plenty of people digest it and get nutrition from gluten-filled foods with absolutely no problems.
'Your favourite foods are your favourites because you eat it a lot' hahaha nope that's not how it works
Septic Flesh I said half the time.
Elle That's true but not what the video suggests. The video suggests it's your fave due to familiarity not taste etc
havent had my favorite food for a year
Things have changed so much.
Im gonna go get some pizza, and when i get back, this will be top comment.
Top Comment. More like Top Banter.
James Watts Either the pizza shop is closed, or You just failed
James Watts im so hungry , i could eat a person
I'm laughing so hard! I was just eating gf pizza when I read this. I have celiac disease I'm allergic to gluten
Auria Hidari Oh you just want me to score this ball, don't you? Do you like sausage?
"Pizza is so good! It's so good!"
I've got celiac, now I'm jealous.
+anastadel I've got celiac too, and that made me so sad and angry
Hey guys, hey, it's ok my dad has had celiac for a while now and one of the places where we used to get pizza started serving gluten free pizza, my dad and I really enjoy it, and it tastes good ( p.s I recommend ordering it with some white/regular onions, it adds more flavor to the pizza and the cruse
SAMEEE
+ana sawie Every gluten free pizza crust I've had that's pre-made has been terrible. Make gluten free pizza at home. It's soooo much better. Make a thick batter and add yeast for flavor in addition to the baking powder/soda. Bake that without any toppings until it's almost done. Take it out and add toppings, bake until the toppings are done. Being Celiac doesn't have to mean giving up good Pizza, it just means more effort.
+ana sawie SAME I'VE HAD CELIAC FOR 13 YEARS LIKE PLZ DONT RUB THE PIZZA IN MY FACE
EVERYONE!! JULIEN SOLOMITA HAS CELIAC AND HE FINDS PLACES THAT OFFER GLUTEN FREE OPTIONS. THERES EVEN PIZZA COMPANIES THAT MAKE GLUTEN FREE PIZZAS
I wish I can find gluten free pizza in Croatia 😞
Mila Tose
oh that sucks :/
But Julien is such a babe and a god of a human being
my Pizza Hut has good gluten free pizza
megviews lucky you
I have eaten glutenfree food since I was 2 years old.. It's wierd beacause i don't know what normal food taste like..
It doesn't really change the taste of food, its the texture that might be a little off from not having the gooey bond of gluten.
Ah.. I see! :)
Wow, well let me tell you it's been hard for me eating gluten for 28 years of my life and cutting it all out so suddenly! :( So maybe it's good you won't know what u r really missing out on?
Iv been gluten free sence I was 11 I think and I’m 16 know
I tried it and it didn't magically help me lose weight or any of the other magical properties people purport the gluten-free lifestyle to imbue.
Vivienne Gucwa Can't forget that the French don't use as many chemicals or preservatives in their foods.
+Miarou Hojisiko everything is made of chemicals
TOMBEE 123 No, that isn't necessarily true.
Your made of chemicals I'm made of chemicals the universe is filled with chemicals
TOMBEE 123 *you're
(The "you're" seems to be the least of your problems.)
I've been gluten free ever since I was 8 (6 years) and it's actually not as bad as they made it out to be. Having celiac and being gf is something that changed my life for the better
Are you loving this whole gluten free craze though? I've known people that have celiac and are loving how accessible gluten free options are now 😀
YASSSS
Emma Benning I dont see why it can change anyone's life for the better EXCEPT that they experience horrible symptoms. I'm celiac without symptoms (yesss we existttttt! :D) and gluten free has changed nothing the way I feel.I just do it for my poor intestines
My sister can't have gluten because it makes her realllyy sick. Its sad though because she loves all things bread.
Talia Fore My sister's exactly the same (she loved her bread)
We have amazing brownies from a supermarket called Tesco, they taste better than ordinary brownies XD Maybe it's just where I live but the cakes, etc are fairly decent!
you guys don't realize that people like me with celiac can't even use most soap. Or shampoo
Seriuosly??? I'm just wheat intolerant, so i never thought about that
Do you really have to pay attention at soap and shampoo? Isn't just something to do with the digesting process?
Amen. I once had a hairdresser wash my hair with wheat germ shampoo, and hours later, after it had been washed out, I had a migraine so bad that I couldn't even get up. That being said, so many things CAN be used, and are wonderful.
The gluten can be absorbed into your skin. I was being tested for celiac's once so I had to do research and change a bunch of stuff. Luckily I don't have it, but gluten is in a lot of stuff. Including certain brands of gum!
Exactly
Do you also hate it when people go on a gluten free diet without having a medical need for it, I mean....we have to go without gluten and we don't have a choice, make the most of it please!
+Total Randomness YES! UGH!
I have celiac! You are not alone LOL
Why would it bother you though? I eat so many things that contain gluten but I don't understand why there are so many celiacs getting annoyed that people don't eat gluten. Like it doesn't effect you in the slightest lol
I really don't know why that would annoy you tbh.
+Florence
it doesn't bother most people what others eat. it's just what they think of people who can eat gluten. sometimes we envy them.
In shorter words, it hard for someone to understand unless your in their shoes.
My god I'm gluten free and they make it sound like being gluten free is like living in the apocalypse.
***** This is king nether and i approve this message
+tirsden ikr!!! I have a friend who went and the other day she was at mcdonalds eating nuggets and fries and i asked her about the gf diet she was doing and she said yeah well I don't always follow it aghhsgsgha
+tirsden right?! like seriously?! my brother has a gluten sensitivity and half the time I forget he does because he can still eat so many things!! I doubt they'd last long on my diet of 3 prices of gum a day and the rest from a feeding tube
As someone allergic to gluten (Celiac Disease) and dairy, I appreciated this.
It’s like oh no I’m constantly throwing up for a week.
i honestly feel like a lot of buzzfeed ppl struggle with the food changes because they are so used to BUYING all their food and not cooking their own things? i tried lowering my intake of gluten for a while to see if thats what was causing my IBS and it isnt THAT hard...like yes it can be annoying but you can cook a perfectly good healthy filling meal that has basically no gluten..
exactly they live off fast food everyday smh
so did it help in your ibs?
yeahhhh but you need money for that. gluten free isnt cheap. i would gladly go whip something up. im getting tested for celiac about next month too by my doctor. i normally avoid gluten myself as much as i can becuase i know if i eat bannanas instead il feel better. but then i get hungry and eat whatever i have in the house because im always hungry. my brother works at a coffe shop and brings home tons of pastries and thats normally all there is to eat too.
aww thank you!!! to be honest i have boiled it down to stress...it acts up the most with stress.. i tend to buy lactose free dairy products cause i just dont like unsweetened almond milk and buying it sweetened just defeats the purpose of it being healthier.
buzzfeed should have their workers go raw till 4 for a month
+Jaclyn Alvarez Why til 4?
+AdraicStarks I don't really know
+AdraicStarks its so during your day when you're working, moving around ect your foods light and easy to digest and when you get home you can eat heavier foods like pasta etc
I have to go on a gluten free diet because I'm allergic lmao
me to
BOI, you think it's hard to eat gluten free for 30 days and YOU THOUGHT IT WAS BAD!?! I HAD TO BE GLUTEN FREE FOR 8 YEARS!
Admiral Adorbes and I have for 10!!
Admiral Adorbes i have to for my whole life,, celiac disease is the worst:((
2 years and and it's a wheat allergy and nut allergy so it sucks so hard. If I eat wheat, I throw up or get hives and other allergic reactions. So my life sucks because of it but at least I know I'm eating healthy!
Me too, 8 years!
I got diagnosed with celiac at age 6, haven't had gluten since. Also I don't think the people really cared or even checked the diet. Like they were eating and using stuff with gluten. If I don't check a single thing, I risk getting extremely sick.
I have gluten intolerance. It sucks.
I miss oreos
+Unicorn Emz
I'm so sorry :c
I found out 2 months ago...
I miss oreos...
+ I was dying at the end of the video, because that guy ate "real" pizza, and talked about how good it was. Now i want to punch him in the face...
Celiac disease, cilia in my intestines destroyed and irreparable damage caused every time I eat gluten
I have celiac and sometimes it feels like we don't get many options. I'm very glad you guys tried this and kind of understand how its like to have to watch out for whats in your food. Thanks for shining some light on this. 😊
gluten doesn't make any difference in health. there are people who actually have celiac (and it is a relatively rare condition) these are the only people who benefit from a gluten-free diet.
any "changes" they experience in this is simply placebo effect at work. or other factors that have nothing to do with gluten intake.
some people are also intolerant to gluten or have disease that get worse due to gluten. Ive got bad eczema and being GF helps my skin loads.
thank you god for being the only educated person in this comment section
Gluten free diet can also help some people with fibromyalgia and chronic pain...speaking from experience...and has NOTHING to do with placebo effect.
Sadly we dont have a cure for Lupus (nor do I think we do for Hashimotos) but it doesn't mean you should give up hope or stop fighting!❤
eliminate gluten and lactose and you will see big improvements
It's weird seeing other people's reactions to a gluten free diet...I myself have Celiac Disease and am perfectly content with what I am able to eat, because if you look for it, there are thousands of different companies that offer gluten free options.
Life without gluten is life without happiness
That's a lie. I'm allergic to gluten and I'm decently happy
Tell me about it. I have celiac disease I'm allergic to gluten. 14 years is this curse!!😣
I'm sorry but I live on a gluten free diet for six years because of my Celiac and I'm very much happy. The is a gluten free options for pretty much every thing. So life without gluten isn't life without happiness…
The fact that my comment is being taken seriously??? lol
Gluten free pizza tastes like crap and pizza is happiness sooo
the food/diet expert has a really amazing voice
"Do you know how good pizza is" no, no I do not I'm gluten free 😢
Buzzfeed should go on a LIFE/CHANGE where they actually post quality articles/videos.
I was gluten and dairy free for 7 years. So glad it's over
Why?
yea why?
+Sophie K I had an intolerance but it was something I outgrew thankfully.
+Julia H I am on a gluten free diet because I am gluten intolerant 😭😭😭😭😭
I have had celiac for 95% of my life it's not that bad...
i think the guy that says he had more energy probably has celiac disease, but his symptoms aren't severe enough to see a doctor about quite yet.
Do you feel important now ?
i think that too
You can have celiac with no physical symptoms
You can also have gluten sensitivity without having full blown celiac disease.
I don’t have celiac disease but if I eat bread I will always have back and knee pain the next day. Wouldn’t be noticeable if my job wasn’t so physically demanding. It definitely slows my recovery time.
I am allergic to gluten
Zoe McIntosh like me
Same. My stomach burns right now.
Me too
Same and it’s so hard because my family is always having bread and pasta and I️ can’t have it unless I️ want a rash 🙄
Zoe McIntosh ugh same
The purple haired guy, I need his name for uh.. A reason.
I fell in love.
His name is Scott
+Jude Yb Don't use Love in vain
I'm sorry but did anyone notice his HARRY POTTER SHIRT!!!In love.
+abaya sugen love isn't a bad thing, why limit yourself
Scott is his name
Every Celiac rage quits this video. (Minus that one guy - what a sweet guy!)
Agreed. A gluten free diet should only be for people who literally CANNOT eat gluten.
An internet full of knowledge gone to waste -smh-
+StyxTBuferd How ironic of you to have your profile picture of a pony having a wheat thingy in its mouth ;)
Now you changed :( I'm sorry, was it my fault? You can change back if you want to
I'm not sure why people would expect to lose weight by not eating gluten. A cupcake is still a cupcake, regardless of what flour you use. If you want to feel awesome and lose weight fast and without effort, try a wholefood vegan diet for a month.
chapachuu Yeah, i was live of course you all lost waight if you are eating more healthy foods!!! it has nothing to do with the gluten. :)
alot of foods have gluten that people eat so if you were to stay away you will notice your losing weight because your avoiding these food
TOMBEE 123 But that has nothing to do with the gulten it self.
+chapachuu gluten free food has more sugar in than regular stuff. Might just be in Britain though.
Can you do one for low salt or no salt?
Low salt could be interesting but no salt would be fatal.
+Julia Norton no salt isn't fatal. My teacher had a stroke and she had to change her diet because of it so now she can't eat salt
I'll bite. Name one condition that would require a sodium intake of less than 500mg. Also, how does edema lead to hyponatremia?
I went gluten free after losing so much weight. I was chronic fatigue and always moody, and now I realized that I was intolerant to it, I feel alive again. I thought I was sick, but I was really just posioning my body with these things. they make almost everything gluten free, and the hardest times are at events or restaurants, but other than that, you get use to feeling left out and unsure of what to eat sometimes. I'm just happy my stomach isn't constantly aching though...
Same! The chronic fatigue was the absolute worst!
Hey . I just started and I feel weak and depress. Is this common?
@@reihino6866 i have this ilness too at first i felt depressed
For someone who was diagnosed with Celiac Disease when I was a baby this was really funny to watch. I've gone through this for a long time and once you find the right foods and good places to go and eat, it's a lot easier. Friends who understand that you can't eat certain things help too. The food is SUPER expensive though. 😂
(Also, my mom makes great Gluten free pizza with crust that looks just like the Gluten kind. 😋 🍕)
I love the gluten free section in my grocery store because almost all of it is also vegan. 😂😂😂
Most butcher cut meats are gluten free
im pretty sure shes Vegan so I don't think she has much of an interest in meat lol.
wоrkеeed foor mе! I wоrkеd just like I thoооught it woоoould. It wаs еasу еnough and I just want оthеrs tо know whеn something works. Check оut it on this blоg twitter.com/ca4428d7d13a1687e/status/788632172043366400 30 Dааays Of A Glutееeen Frее Diet â LIFE CHАNGE
Deanna Schroeder that is exactly what I hate about it lol
It kind of upsets me at times that this is a trend because for some people being gluten free is serious. I was diagnosed with celiac at 6-7 years old and have been gluten free for over half my life because if I don't my body gets weak and I become ill. I understand that it can be healthier but some people (not necessarily you all) just think of it as a trend lifestyle but for some its crucial. It was very hard when I was younger because there was next to no gluten free options so I always had to have home-cooked food or make things myself.
tbh i'm a celiac and i would give pretty much anything to be able to eat gluten again and not have to worry about everything i eat :/
"it's too big of an inconvienience" nice to hear that coming from someone who won't have to deal with it their whole life :/
Gluten is not bad for you unless you have celiac.
Lasted about a month before I could finally eat wheat again without horrible stomach pain.
safiya's squeaky voice is very interesting... She has a deep voice in her recent videos.
I wish Buzzfeed would bring in RDs instead of nutritionists or holistic experts. Get someone whose expertise is rooted in science and not nonsense.
Free food is always at Buzzfeed during these diet videos.
Lol exactly
Nehal Habbal I think they have free food all the time but it would be no reason to show it unless someone is on a special diet
zdoster why u telling me tell the one that commented
Being one of the 0.2% of people in North America that actually suffers from celiac disease( diagnosed in 1982) I can say that the reason you feel healthier is because you are eating a healthier diet by avoiding trying to avoid gluten. If you don't suffer from Celiacs disease you're body will not have troubles processing them, their are thousands of healthy foods with gluten in them. One good thing for me is with the hipster gluten free trend it sure is easier finding foods that I could only dream of eating 20 years ago.
I like gluten-free pizza. The crust is nice and crunchy.
Same my mom gets super mad at me when I eat her gluten free food
I HAVE FUCKING CELIAC. IN ALERGIC TO GLUTEN. I DEAL WITH THIS EVERY FUCKING DAY
14 YEARS OF THIS CURSE FOR ME
tayte kozlowski how bad is it for y
tayte kozlowski you
DragX Gaming I'm whit you!
It's not just something you do for fun a month, it's an actuall struggle to find food. Specially if you combind it with other alergies
I'm sorry you have celicas and have to deal with this mockery.
First Months: *ABSOLUTE TORTURE!* Friend: Puts cake into mouth Me: **Death Glare**
Middle Months: Meh... I still miss Junk food.... Friend: eats pizza Me: **stares longingly**
Now: SO WORTH IT!
