    The gear shifter is designed so if you have nice shoes on while riding, you won’t scratch or damage them when up shifting.

    I have a 2016 PCX 150. Comes with a bigger gas tank, all LED lights, 12v plug in glove box, no hump on the seat. I think you'll love the upgrades, on the 2015-2018 PCX.

    Former Cub 90 owner hear, an issue I had was poor emergency braking tire grip in the wet. I have driven Maxi style scooters since, not only do they stay stable on wet roads, they are easier to get off if you do lose control.

    I agree with your points but.....the PCX is a "tool" whereas the Cub is beautiful, that's a consideration for many, form over function! I've been looking at both, but if l don't buy the Cub l might drop down to the 110cc Vision, far cheaper & a very useful (for me) flat floor.

    Thank you for video! PCX is objectively better bike overall but I'd pick Super Cub. First, because I find it stunningly beautiful and second, I have a full motorcycle license and ride big bikes but I would want a Super Cub for my wife and visiting friends to have fun local rides to lake or something. Where I live (EU), as soon as engine is above 125cc, you need to have at least first (A2) level motorcycle license. Up till 125cc, you can ride with car(B) license. And that is a deal breaker for me, so PCX is not an option.

    I'm very happy with my 2012 PCX150, at this point it has just over 9k km on the clock. Excellent fuel economy (2.25l/100km) and extremely nimble around town. The only 'major' repair was the clutch bearing, it was a problem from new, obviously a bad batch. Took me about two - three hours to replace. For long trips I use my newly-acquired GL1500, currently on 53k km.

    Two things. I wonder if by drilling a small hole in the black plastic liner of the “Secret” compartment you could run a battery tender connector to the battery. That way you could roll up the wire and store it when not connected to the charger. The other is that I’m sure you’ve noticed the bosses on the swing arm. In other countries these are drilled and tapped for passenger pegs. Pretty easily done if you’re somewhat handy with a drill and tap.

    I don't think there has ever been a variant of Honda's semi-auto cub gearbox with more than 4 gears, not even by other manufacturers such as SYM, Kawasaki, Yamaha or Suzuki. Any underbone motorcycles with more than 4 gears tend to be using regular small motorcycle engine & gearbox units with manual clutches, e.g. SYM VF 185 or Honga Supra GTR 150.

    What you need to understand, is that Honda and all other Bike and scooter manufacturers all try to save production costs. Hence no side stand! The Honda " Super" Cub, is actually a scooter with a lot of history, but the earlier ones, original ones, with a kick starter were much better! Including a kickstarter would have cost them more money to make the bike, but when the battery fails , and you are miles from anywhere! and you cannot start it, you are screwed! Thank you Honda!

    • @AnyoneSeenMikeHunt
      @AnyoneSeenMikeHunt 5 часов назад

      @@motardsquid Good question, it's a bit of a standalone. Thats somewhat I was alluding to, it's hard to compare the CUB to anything. The PCX 150 is a typical road scooter whereas the Cub 125 can go where the PCX goes but it's also off road capable. Put it this way, in London it's the PCX and in Hanoi it's the CUB.

  • @ScampCamper
    @ScampCamper 3 дня назад

    I like the comparison you did.
    I had decided on getting a Scooter 2 months ago for local errands (last bike was a BMW R100S several years ago). I really liked the Super Cub, but one of the things I was desiring was built-in storage space, which is absent in a Super Cub.
    I was strongly considering the Honda PCX or ADV but then noticed a nearby Scooter dealer had new KYMCO 150's on sale, leftover 2022 versions for only $2100 so I saw it, liked it, and brought it home. Fun little ride, big tires, discs front and rear, ABS. The under seat storage even holds my full faced helmet.
    The KYMCO doesn't have accessible handlebars either, but I found some mounts that clamp tightly around the windshield supports for my phone and GPS, and there's a USB port nearby also, so it works out great.

    Interesting. But I need a scooter for a passenger too. I actually had a Cub 70 in the 1970s. That had a passenger seat and pegs. Even alone it wouldn't go over 45 mph so I couldn't go on the highway. If these scooters can't go 60mph with a passenger then I need to look for more cc's.

    The Super Cub looks 10 times better. Unfortunately it has a couple of fatal problems. One is that single seat. I simply do not fit. Back in the late 80s I had a Honda Passport, which was just a renamed Super Cub, though only 70cc. It had a full length seat, and I did actually fit on it. Then there is that AWFUL clutchless transmission. Because of that it was virtually unrideable. Sometimes it would shift, sometimes it wouldn't, but when it did it made a horrible sound, like something was breaking. It was impossible to ride it smoothly.
    The PCX also has a couple of fatal flaws. I consider it ugly, but it gets much worse than that. It requires valve adjustments way too often, and you have to practically disassemble the scooter to adjust the valves. For someone who puts on a lot of miles, it's a real nightmare. Then there is the CVT. It has two problems. It lugs the engine badly on hills due to its inability to keep engine rpms up when climbing. Then there is the other problem. Broken belts. Three times I have been stranded by broken belts on scooters. One of those times was on a Vespa GT200 with less than 3000 miles on it. The belt completely shredded. I had to have it hauled almost 100 miles home on a tow truck.
    So neither one of those would work for me. If the Super Cub had a full length seat and a real manual clutch it would be ok. It could be ridden at full throttle with no problems. The PCX would work if it only required valve adjustments every 10,000-12,000 miles, and if it could be ridden at full throttle 90% of the time without breaking belts.

    • @motardsquid
      @motardsquid  4 дня назад

      I wonder why they called it the passport? Those are good points, the valve adjustment is a pain in the ass. And i agree, i've had a belt snap on this particular pcx, it completely leaves you stranded, with a worn chain and sprockets the bike lets you know ahead of time. Good point on the clutch as well, im getting used to the semi manual/auto clutch. But would have prefered a clutch lever and traditional shifting.
