Heu, could you do presentations like this on motor families from other manufacturers like chevy and ford? Those are also commonly used as powerplants for the common man's performance car
I almost bought one but didn’t. Now I regret it. Although I still bought a fine vehicle (V8 AWD 4Runner), but I think if I bought the element instead, I’d be driving it a lot more and didn’t need to buy another small car.
He must be european, I have 2000 ls400 155k miles perfect interior 25 years old, paint is cooked though, runs great on premium and regular, 290hp @@Rifq2day
My wife's 2004 CRV EX AWD had 140k miles on it when someone who ran a red light t-boned the car and totaled it in 2013. No issues with it at all except for the window switch in the driver's side door that went bad at 110k mi. I got the part for $30 and installed it myself. I was going to change the rear diff. fluid the day after it got totaled, so we didn't even get to change that (!) Just motor oil every 4k mi. (Mobil 1), brakes, tires, 1 radiator/antifreeze and 1 brake fluid flush, and tranny fluid around 100k mi. That was it! Also the paint and clear coat on that CRV looked like new too! It had NO dings or rock chips on it somehow (all my Civics & Accords had a dozen or more of rock chips and dings) which means the CRV had many coats of paint and strong sheet metal. Awesome car.. even though I don't like SUV's, but the wife does. Oh, the insurance gave us $9K for the car after 9.5 years of ownership and 140k mi.! I paid $20,100 (dealer invoice) for it (Sticker was $22K) so we got 45% of what we paid after almost a decade.
My first car was a used 1976 Accord hatchback. First new car, 1986 CRX. I have leased and purchased Hondas my whole life. Currently holding onto my 2014 Civic with 191k miles and 2011 CRV with 162k miles. Love these cars and hope Honda figures out how to stay in the business in these turbulent times.
this video is so accurate. I own a 2012 Honda civic for 7 years. Beside oil change, brake replacement and tires, I don’t remember any single issue I had with it. Sold it after 7 years and got about 40% of my original cost. Right now I’m driving my 3rd Honda a 2023 odyssey
It hurts my heart that you didn’t mention the f20 and f22 engines in the s2000. They had the most hp per liter of any NA engine until the Ferrari 458 was released.
I bought a brand new 2012 Honda Accord EX sedan with the 5 speed manual transmission and the K24Z3 engine. Still have that car today. It's one of the best cars I've ever owned.
Actually it's a really fun car it handles like a track car and it's not the fastest car in the world but she's not the slowest 😂 and if you're game you can drop a k series motor in it.
I just bought a 2008 Honda Fit with 112,000 it purrs like a kitten. It is the 5 speed variety, Georgia car car is spotless underneath. Its the bold blue color.
I have a 1999 in good condition with 284,225 miles on her new tires, rotars and brakes. Its sleeping 😴 in my garage for a year now. I can't sell it because of everything we went through together. Thanks Scotty and thank you Honda. I love my 2006 Honda but my old 99 actually drives better.
I'm sad because you didn't mention my Honda Crosstour. It was an incredibly quiet and easy riding driving vehicle. The V6 vtec engine was incredibly fuel efficient. I bought it in '07 for 18,500 and sold it in 2023 for 12,500. It's value held up incredibly well.
I really LOVE my 2013 Crosstour with the K24 - bought a one owner with 88K miles during the pandemic for only $10K cash and the thing still runs perfect with over 140K miles 😊
I own a Honda Accord Euro Luxury (CL9) 2007 year model. Currently the odometer is running at 3,00,000 Km. The material and leather seats are still fresh and soft. Absolute joy of driving my accord. I don’t think I gonna sell it in near future. Simply, I love it!
I bought a 2-door 2000 Accord EX-L V6 new and drove it for 14.5 years and 193K miles. The only reason I sold it was because my wife and I had a kid and needed 4 doors. It had otherwise driven as well as it ever had. The alternator went out at 58k miles, but it was replaced under warranty. That was my only issue. I replaced it with a 2014 Accord EX-L, and it’s my wife’s daily driver. It only has 118k miles on it and drives as well as it ever has with standard maintenance. My mom bought a 2020 Pilot EX-L and loves it. Honda is a terrific company and driven my family and me for many miles. We’ll drive a lot more in the future as well. ❤
I have owned a honda city for 10 years and 3 lakh km milage. No complaints at all. Sold it now and waiting for some new models of theirs to come which are hybrid
*_My 1st car is a 97 Civic Ek hatch… 1st family owned by my uncle & I'm glad he handed it down to me. Under 200k miles but it is my daily project car. Building it for street & track. I've abused the engine many times plus over heating it about 3 times until it shut off completely! Still runs brand new._*
i currently own a 2024 Civic Type R & 2025 Honda HRV both great vehicles i’ve had a 86 prelude si 2020 civic sport (1.5 turbo) 2022 civic sport hatchback and 2022 sport sedan (wife’s car) the Type R is a limited production car that is super fun to drive with tons of power bose sound system , some might find the ride kinda rough but it’s a track car soooooo!!
2009 Honda Ridgeline presently has about 225000 miles. 2013 Accord has 125000 miles. 2020 Ridgeline has about 65000 miles. Very pleased with the vehicles and the service.
To a testament of build quality, my son owned a 2019 Honda Civic and was recently involved in a near head on collision with a Subaru Outback. The offending driver had fallen asleep and crossed the center line. Impact of both cars occurred near the driver’s headlight assemblies. Both vehicles were totaled in the crash but the Honda’s condition afterward was nothing compared to the Subaru. My son sustained some bumps, bruises and minor glass cuts while the other driver was taken to the hospital. I have owned several Hondas in the past and will keep buying them!
I have a 2010 Crosstour EX-L. It's a terrific car. Perfect for Northern States and snow. Super reliable with the exception of the alternator issue on the 3.5 liter engines. Also wish it had a timing chain instead of the belt. But, a terrific car to drive.
Bought a new 23 Ridgeline in 7/23 to tow my 3640# bassboat. No issues & tows it fine. Had GMC Sierra Crew Cabs previous for 29 yrs. GM priced themselves outa my pay grade. Honda Sport OTD $40,060. GMC comparably equipped >68k + + +
Great vid again Scotty. Yeah Hondas are awesome but I'm biased as a professional landscaper who uses Honda mowers but also owns a low-mileage (14,000) 2017 FK8. Fantastic cars.
Ive owned everything honda made between 1979-2003 - My favorites were all my preludes, especially my 99 SH with the ATTS. I put more oil than gas in some of them, but I was never left stranded.
2013 Honda Accord, for me the best car I have ever owned. Besides normal wear/maintenance I've had the starter go out and some computer module related to the wireless system replaced.
My Honda Civiv Accord CRV over decades had a record that if the battery would turn over the engine they started. All were bought used Never sold or traded in. All lost by other driver totaling them. That is 5 over 30 years. Costs, oil fluids filters tires.
I had a 2002 accord with the reverse rotation engine. Amazing what the engineers can do... Remove an extra transmission shaft and make the engine run backwards to save weight and complexity. GM did that for years with buses.
I own a 2011 Honda CRV with approximately 110,000 miles on it. I do my own repairs so I don't have to pay for labor. The VVT valve was replaced, CV axles, radiator, & wheel bearings. The TPMS sensors have just recently stopped working & the cargo door struts were also recently replaced. Most of the parts were OEM except for the CV axles due to cost. I intend to keep it at least until it reaches 200,000 miles. I've read that Honda quality has slipped lately, with a number of recalls being instituted. I would not buy one with a CVT transmission, nor one with 0w oil in the engine. Every car manufacturer has issues with some of its models. If & when I buy another car it will definitely be a Honda model without all the modules they seem to be adding to cars. Great video by the way Scotty!
I love the body style and utility of my 09 Honda Fit. I need to get a similar style and utility in a high mileage, low curb weight, efficient vehicle. Honda forgot about me.
You overlook the 1.5 L turbo engines. Blown head gaskets and turbo failures are common. I have one in my 2021 Accord. Wish I had the engine in it that was in my 2003 CRV
I have two CRV's, '08 & '11. I night then for reliability. They were high mileage but because it's a Honda i figure I'll get another 100k on them before any major issues. Also i have a Honda ST1300 motorcycle with nearly 100,000 miles on it, runs like clock work.
The amount of cross compatibility between the different engines made modification fun. Junkyards could potentially have so many parts because of that. Non vtec b series can have vtec head installed with minimal mods. 1.8 LS vtec or 2.0 b20 vtec's were always cheap ways to be fast. Even the single cam z6/y8 are very happy to be boosted or sprayed. They are easy to work on. 10mm,12mm,14mm, 17mm and a 32mm will do basically anything you need. The good ol days..😅
Hmmm.. I think this is AI? Notice how is voice stops, and starts, somewhat artificially - Usually Scotty's voice is up, down and flailing around! - too demure, by far, for him. Either that or Honda have slipped him a few thou dollars to be nice to them?
@shill6449 not AI These long form videos are scripted and designed to be presented the way they are Different of course from his daily videos, which are done while he is showing whatever vehicle it is These, I'm sure he has a few people who help him with the script and visuals in the videos Don't need to flail about on these Plus, you can tell it's him by the cadence and tone in which he speaks
On my 3rd Honda vehicle. Had a 1998 accord, presently own A 2007 accord with well over 200,000 miles and a 2014 CRV at 173,000 miles. I also own a Honda 15 hp outboard which pushes my 15 foot Tracker, plus a 4 stroke Honda weed trimmer.
I bought my 2015 Honda Fit EX-L Brand new and now it’s has over 185k miles I did a lot of road trips….replaced the alternator because it’s not denso it’s a Mitsubishi made…replace my CVT transmission failed at 175k miles Replaced with a used 2019 Fit CVT (60kmiles). The VTC gear still rattles. Made In Mexico 🇲🇽. A/C heater still works. It’s still idling smooth. Not burning oil. Hoping it will last to 500k miles 🤞🏼
@@justins.3085 I agree that Hondas feel more solid. I have rented Toyota and it seems like riding in a tin can. Does anyone have a hard time finding Honda at rental places?
1st car 78 Civic CVCC. Great car. Up to my 15th, 24 CRV Sport Touring Hybrid. Absolutely love it. Along side my 03 Element with 245k miles running perfectly and my 05 Accord with almost 220k miles and runs perfectly as well. Of the 15, 3 were Acuras and all served me well. Won’t own anything else.
I’m sporting a 2007 Ridgeline. I’m prob gonna get a new one-trail sport. The ol Ridge has 318,000 miles! My lawnmower is a Honda- bought back in 2006. I also ride a 1999 Honda Shadow Ace with almost 75,000 miles. My wife has had 2 civics, a CRV, and she’s currently in her 2nd Odyssey ( a 2022 EX-L) nothing but Honda at our house. We’re very happy with our ownership experiences.
My first car was a 1991honda Civic hatchback dx with a 5 speed manual transmission. Still have the car till This day. Only problem I ever had was fuse related problems and the main relay for the fuel pump goes bad. Other than that as long as you change the oil an simple maintenance car will keep going. I also owned a 2008 4 door civic si FA5. To me best car and fun. An my wife has a 2018 civic turbo 4 doors.
Honda was developing a N.A V10 back in 2008 but never released it to the public due the great financial crisis back then. That thing sounded louder than the LFA. To this day, nobody knows anything about the HP figures, Torque numbers etc. and it was under the hood of something known as the HSV-010. It was RWD and did I mention it sounded pretty mean. Honda never spoke of it again or even seen after 2013. It was supposed to be Honda’s answer to Toyota’s LFA. Very interesting.
-2000 Accord with 224,250 miles. A/T replaced 137,000 (no regular maintenance performed) -2008 Honda Element 122,390. -2019 Honda CRV Keep your maintenance current using only Honda OEM parts.
VTEC was introduced in 2001? Really? Com'on Scotty. Did a 20yr old write this for you? My '99 Integra GS-R says 'VTEC" just above the rear bumper and the '97-'01 Integra Type-R also used VTEC. VTEC was introduced in 1992 in Japan, and came to the US in 1994 with the gen2 Integra. You also forgot about the K20C4 engine which is in the 2018-2022 Accord 2.0T. The K20C4 shares >90% of the K20C1 components but came with a smaller turbo. BTW, I have owned 9 Hondas (2 Acuras + 7 Hondas) since 1993 all of which I bought new. I still have my 2019 Accord 2.0T (and '99 Integra GS-R - can't bring myself to sell this car it is so awesome) and getting the wife a 2025 Accord this year after I sell her 2013 Accord.
Well, I have an MDX, 2006, & it is one of the nicest rigs I have had. With AWD, I almost never break traction. 3.5L does eat... 12-13 MPG on average. I did change the air filter, with little change. So, maybe it is the CA gas & AWD. With 166,883 miles, it runs & drives find... last week the VSA light came on, but at 63, I don't feel I need that, but, when I get time off work, I may pop in my Blue Driver to see what I can see. My dad just traded in his '07 Ridgeline with almost 400K miles - at 93 he is just now driving less than I do - & he had no real issues with it in all that time. So, I feel, the MDX is good for me. Haul my gardening things, back & forth to work - FedEx Ground - & I sometimes do Door Dash with my wife's 2015 Accent. Almost 90K miles, & I have noticed her engine oil gettering darker, so I have started changing it sooner. Not 5K, but 3K miles with full syn. oil. Like my Harley, it says change every 5,000 miles, nope, 2,000 to 2,500 miles. I do not like dark oil. Even the MDX, I am thinking of changing before the 3,000 mile mark. It seems that a lot of short trips are harder on the oil. I keep hearing Oil & Filters are cheap, engines & transmissions are not. Besides a slightly higher overall cost, I can not see a down side to early oil changes. Including break fluid, (& coolant) but, with the MDX, that is done with the - WHY have it? - Timing belt & water pump... Love you videos, Thank you so very much :-)
Scotty, could you please address cylinder deactivation in Hondas? This doesn't seem like a good idea, but they keep pushing vcm in every new vehicle. What's your take?
The first generation of VCM engines had problems will oil consumption requiring piston ring replacement. There was a warranty extension for a few years of the V6 models. Now, with direct injection, the problem we're seeing now is significant carbon buildup on the back side of the intake valves. This reduces fuel economy and causes misfires. In general, most warranty extensions do not cover more than a fraction of the cars that are actually affected by whatever problem they are addressing. They're a good company overall, but they've got some problems.
Have owned honda vehicles in both 5speed manuals and automatics and never had issues with them as others have claimed transmission problems. I just followed strict atf change intervals and never had a problem and no that’s not even rocket science to do that.
Honda was amazing but now it's 50/50 ! I bought a new Honda Odyssey 2023 and at 4000 Miles the transmission ZF 10 speed jumped second gear and trashed the transmission 😢 thank God for warranty it cost 15000k to replace 😮
4:10 well, there goes all my worries about getting a good replacement engine for my accord when the time comes. And, a k24a2 when i decide to do my build car. I love the k series so much this accord i have now is actually the 2nd car ive owned with one in it.
I have a 2005 Honda CRV and I have a 1995 Toyota Tercel with 3 times the miles of the Honda Toyota is still more reliable. Both cars made in Japan so it is a fair comparison
Loved my 1992 Honda Civic Hatchback with Manual Transmission that I bought brand new for $7200 (as a prev year leftover in 1993) with the passenger side mirror option for an additional $58. Unfortunately traded it in for a Mazda Navajo (2 door Ford Explorer).
It’s a sad time that Americans doesn’t have quality built in any of their products for years if they were like that during WW-2 English wouldn’t be spoken.
I have a 2014 Accord 6sp. Didn't have any problems until i took it into a Honda dealership to get a valve adjustment done. Now it's leaking oil from the valve cover and the abs light is on.
After owning Fords, Chaves, Buicks, I tried a 1995 Honda Accord ex and never bought anything else. Have owned Accords, Hrv and now a Crv hybrid. No problems with any of 7 cars
I was in the market for a brand new car and was considering the Acura Integra with the new turbo engine, but ended up changing my mind once I seen the 2021 Acura ILX with 8k miles and the 2.4l 8Speed DCT. Why? Because that engine will outlast the newer engines without a doubtz

Four xylidin rally sedans and hatchbacks! Fun, fun, fun!!!!

Good Sunday afternoon Scotty. My sinuses are bad today.
🤧🤧🤧😷
I have a '03 Honda Element with 348,000 miles. Runs great and it's not falling apart!
Element lover here…. My ‘07 SC has 93,000.
Still pristine, and plan to keep it forever.❤
I almost bought one but didn’t. Now I regret it. Although I still bought a fine vehicle (V8 AWD 4Runner), but I think if I bought the element instead, I’d be driving it a lot more and didn’t need to buy another small car.
Love the element. Only wish it had better gas mileage and that the frame wasn’t as heavy.
Love my 2010 element!
My Honda civic 1.5 vtec e. Always flooring it. Didn't use a drop of oil. Totalled it in a car accident. Head on collision.
My first ex wife was pretty dumb… she had a Honda Civic that her father gave her.
She drove it without oil for a week… and the engine survived.

That's it?? My sister's 07 is at 399k km 😂

@@Rifq2day My '12 is almost to 40k miles. No issues yet.
Unfortunately i had nothing but issues with my 2012 honda civic compared to gm cars which were no issue at all
this video is so accurate. I own a 2012 Honda civic for 7 years. Beside oil change, brake replacement and tires, I don’t remember any single issue I had with it. Sold it after 7 years and got about 40% of my original cost. Right now I’m driving my 3rd Honda a 2023 odyssey
2010 civic for 14 years. No problems. Had almost 200,000 miles.
From a Civic to Odyssey 😂 Got married with kids huh?

You mean a built Honda civic?
They're one of the best ones out there, and some would argue the best. They're pricey enough however
Nice to know you can take it to track days and it won’t blow up.
Even Honda gas power generators are built really well

It hurts my heart that you didn’t mention the f20 and f22 engines in the s2000. They had the most hp per liter of any NA engine until the Ferrari 458 was released.

Honda NEEDS to Get Rid of Timing BELTS, before I get One!
You can get the 4-cylinder with chains. Only the V6 comes with belts.
Yes my 05 Accord 4 cylinder has a chain.
Lol they started using chains in like 2002 in the k20
I have a Honda snowblower, built like a tank with a very easy starting engine. I'm seriously thinking about ordering a Ridgeline this year.
2009 Honda Ridgeline presently has about 225000 miles. 2013 Accord has 125000 miles. 2020 Ridgeline has about 65000 miles. Very pleased with the vehicles and the service.
My Honda lawn mower is wicked good! After a long winter, she cranks right up and has for over 30 years now.

I just had my timing belt changed on my j35 2004 pilot...somehow survived 180k plus miles! replace with OEM belt

Great vid again Scotty. Yeah Hondas are awesome but I'm biased as a professional landscaper who uses Honda mowers but also owns a low-mileage (14,000) 2017 FK8. Fantastic cars.
Once you go Honda, you never go back.
I've even owned an Acura Vigor, which was 5 cylinder with a lot of torque.
Loved it.
My first car was a 74 Honda Civic. Good little car drove it forever.
Could you tell me why you don't like 0w oiled engines?
Actually just financed my first car at 31

It sucks that they discontinued the Honda fit. Real people drive small cars, lol
Honda Accord 2007, manual transmission, it'the best gear shift I have experience, confortable and fast.

They run forever. Still have CRV 2011 and 2015 Pilot. Had several Accords and Civics destroyed by my kids after many miles. Never had one die.
My 2004 Honda HRV still runs like new.
My first car is 05 Manual civic, still running like a champ ^-^
Have owned honda vehicles in both 5speed manuals and automatics and never had issues with them as others have claimed transmission problems. I just followed strict atf change intervals and never had a problem and no that’s not even rocket science to do that.

I have a 2005 Honda CRV and I have a 1995 Toyota Tercel with 3 times the miles of the Honda Toyota is still more reliable. Both cars made in Japan so it is a fair comparison
This explains why Hector having Spoon engines with T66 turbos, NoS, and a MoTec exhaust was a huge friggin deal
