      Yeah, I am looking at comparisons now too to warrant an upgrade, but i just can't justify it right now. I play everything fine with a 4080. Probably i'll wait on the 9000 series AMD chips and get a few parts over the course of the year to get it a bit cheaper.

    So for me, who does more video encoding than game play, my 5900 sticks around for another generation. Sweet.

    Since I only really play games everything in 4K my 5900x is gonna stick around a little longer for me.

      No doubt, at 4K it almost doesnt matter which CPU you have for gaming. But yours should performe noticable better in CPU heavy RTS titles.

      Depends on your GPU, a 7800X3D still bottlenecks a 4090 at 4k in a lot of titles. Ray Tracing is insanely CPU demanding at times, and now that DLSS is as good as it is it means the CPU bottlenecks a lot easier. I swapped my 5900X for a 7800X3D and the difference was mind blowing, but I still see GPU usage drop below 99% quite a lot.

    i'd say the 5900x isnt worth getting at this point. At the same time people who own a 5900x like myself have no reason to upgrade especially since zen 5 is coming soon. Ill be skipping am5 socket altogether and upgrade as soon as am6 starts.

      Depends on how the 9800X3D is gonna perform on AM5. Might be worth it, maybe.

    Seems like 7800X3D would be a good upgrade to keep the same non gaming performance of the 5900X but get a significant boost in gaming performance.

    Thanks for this, was wondering if my 5900x was bottlenecking my 4090 at 4k. But seems I still dont need to upgrade until the 6080-6090 or whatever they ll be called.

      Have you noticed any bottle necks with your 5900 x and 4090? I’m planning to upgrade to a 4090 and have the same cpu

    • @kadj79
      @kadj79 10 месяцев назад +2

      @@Itsyoungsaturn depends on what resolution you play and the games. At 4k you won’t notice. If you only game you can also upgrade to a 5800x3d. Then 1440p would bottleneck less.

      They are if you have a 4090 and care about high refreshrate. A 7800X3D still won't always push a 4090 to 99%

    Who buys an RTX 4090 to game at 1080p? Seriously pointless to even show 1080p results..

    • @TheBlenderizers
      @TheBlenderizers Месяц назад

      If you want to benchmark CPUs, you need to artificially put less load on the GPU, so it needs to be low resolution. Every single other CPU benchmark you'll find from the biggest channels will also have everything set to 1080p for the same reason

    • @jacekplacek4213

      you still don't understand that cpu tests are only done in 1080p so that there is a visible percentage difference in performance? Are you new to this?

      Not at all, in 2020 it was the best gaming CPU you could buy, being priced around 10900k's price and having an extra 4 threads. It's not amazing now in 2024, but that's because the X3D chips are so much faster.
