Yeah, similar thoughts with Whoop. I think there is a place for trackers without a screen like Whoop or the rings. Especially with the battery life and ability to wear it in different places, and if one wants to wear a traditional watch instead. But the fitness tracking was a bummer because relying on it to detect is not particularly accurate. It's not the smallest profile tbh; it's smaller than the watch but not by that much. The subscription model turns people off as well unfortunately.

Great video, I am currently making the same choice and am planning on returning my whoop after the trial.
Also I have been using my apple watch ultra for over a year now and have used the Athlytic app with it (40$ a year) but basically it does almost everything the whoop did, something better than whoop and something a little worse but it is totally worth the price considering.

Thanks for the tip! I heard about Athlytic but never tried it, are you happy with what it provides over Apples own apps?

I am trialing the whoop now and have ben an apple with user since day one. But I think the sleep tracking is lacking on Apple, it just doesn’t give me enough help, sos I’m going to use both devices. I have done tests with the heartbeat and they both show the same for me, so I think the whoop is accurate.

That’s great if it is accurate for you! Apple Watch sleep tracking is getting some nice improvements with the next watchOS update in September, so I hope they start catching up to Whoop, I also find it severely lacking in comparison the way it is implemented right now…

The sleep mode on the Apple Watch initiates automatically

Does it? I’ll test it tonight, thanks for the hint! But still, whenever I don’t get up with my alarm, it at least always ends early, which is kind of annoying…

It only tracks sleep automatically if you have the sleep focus mode setup and active each night. The next version of watchOS is going to track sleep automatically without the focus mode set, but currently it has to be.

I have just stopped using mine for exactly the same reasons as you

Nice to hear! I feel like most other people seem to love it, but it kind of disappointed me.

I thought apple watch is inaccurate when it comes to puls oxymeter as it doesnt measure all the time only when asked and randomly. And massimo, the ones they copied the technololy from, is the only one that measures all the time. What I dnt like about the apple watch is that it is a watch and I hate wearing watches. But it sucks if the measurements are so far away from accurate. Yeah you probably you are not using it for fitness and sleep as most people who probably get into it, but then for what do you even need a fitness/health watch? What you use it for? Also arent the insides of apple and massimo watch too limited? I felt the whoop gives a pretty detailed representation.

I think this is definitely up to personal preference. I like wearing watches, so the Apple Watch fulfills that purpose and at the same time, gives me an idea of how much I move in a day. So even if I used the WHOOP, I would still want to wear a watch, which makes it more annoying for me. From the scientific tests I've seen, the Apple Watch is pretty accurate when it comes to heart rate, and the pulse oximetry sensor is not something I am that interested in or use often, so it works perfectly for my use case. But the WHOOP might be better for you, if you don't like to wear watches and like the way they represent the data in their app.

yeah probably just difference in what is important for one. I will look into the Masimo watch, the one that has a dispute with apple right now. They are a pharmatech company and make medical products, so I think their engineering is very good. But I'm still waiting for them to incorporoate more measurements of different kinds as I believe they only have puls oximetry and hydration, heartbeat and steps. And I wanna have some more. Ideal would be one which can also analyse sweat and you can put in information about hormones etc etc@@chris.mueller
