John Reischman and David Benedict are such great influences on all of us. I haven't been playing long, but I have learned more from John's sense of melody and his lessons on Peghead than anywhere else. David Benedict is a brilliant teacher. Thank you David and thank you John and all of you guys on this video.
I was happy to see Joe K. but having John Reishman show us a Jethro Burns lick that Sam Bush used on a Tony Rice song was worth the price of admission alone!
This is one of your coolest ask a great player ………… , walk around surveys ever, David! “Great snippets of personality interactions” is an approach you have that highlights your tremendous social intelligence aspects. I am so glad I was able to be one of your pandemic era students so I could have the opportunity to get to know one of the most perceptive, kind, and giving people ever. And I haven’t even covered your talent as a musician or instructor, two tremendous giftings, as well. Thanks for this licks feauture! Dan Brooks, CA
I’m in Asheville for a few weeks and just wandered around Swannanoa Gathering for the first time a couple of days ago. What a treasure of a place! It was great to see many of my favorite musicians in the video.
David, if you did transcriptions of the great mandolin parts on Tony's albums and made it into a proper book, that will be a perennial seller for your lifetime. (Like the Tony Rice tabs book selling since the 1970s.)

Caterina's precision is just off the roofs! :O
Caterina is my hero! What an amazing musician, and such a lovely person. 😁

Love that Mike Marshall just completely improvised his favourite lick
Great juxtapositions with the greatest players 😊

This is so fun!! Thanks for doing the footwork David, literally!
caterina lichtenberg Is absolutely amazing I think she one of the reasons I wanted to learn classical composition for mandolin
Licks equal improvisation!❤
David, you put it best yourself: Holy smokes! Thanks for putting this together and sharing it!
Killer vid dude! Was great having you at the Gathering this year. Thanks for making all this amazing content!
Thank you this was very useful
All played on their equally renowned instruments ❤
That initial Casey Campbell lick is so good, man.
Thanks!
Reischman's fave is mine too, the first notes to BLT.
Thank you very much, you do excellent work, you are great.

Can I borrow Reischman for a few weeks? Super video!! Thank You David...
John Reischman’s favorite lick is an entire Sam Bush solo. Amazing.
The thing I notices is that the left hand on most of these is relatively simple, but what makes them really stand out is what the right hand is doing.
Good education! Love it!
John's lick #18 sounds a lot like the opening line of John Lee Hooker's Boom boom boom boom 😊
awesome video
Amazing 🤩
Can you play " The Blessing" with a Mandolin?
