Possibly the most excellent middle class car review ive ever seen. Cardboard tip to tesco to BnQ. Only thing missing was smashed avacado on toast and a poke at the Tories. 8/10.
Bradley, you have been a godsend! I have been watching your videos since just after Christmas when I decided to get a new car. All I wanted back then was a back-up camera & a hatchback [current car is a 2013 manual Mini convertible - tons of fun but a very active puppy makes the top-down times limited]. Then I went down the electric car rabbit hole - I have been intrigued since the first Tesla 2-seater which I coveted from afar. Checked out Consumer Reports and they teased that a new car was coming to market in the US soon, and that was my intro to the Polestar! Honestly, I fell in love w/ the yellow seatbelts irrationally & immediately. I have co-workers who have Teslas but I hate the center-only screen. I googled Polestar and became quickly hooked on your open & honest straightforward videos [my dad was British so the accent doesn’t hurt either, probably some subliminal warm feelings there too]. I’m brand new to e-cars so that started the learning curve re: charging, battery size, range, blah, blah, blah [your early video helped me slog through that phase]. I took the leap in lockdown and drove to NYC to see and test drive the car in person and fell in love! When I got home from that trip you posted your now infamous “Don’t a Polestar” video, and that put a chill on my enthusiasm. Did I really know what I was doing? Was this just my rebellion for being locked in my apartment for a year? Who knows, but I got over it and in early March ordered my Midnight Polestar 2. Did the wire transfer yesterday and once I slog through the ridiculous Mass. registration process, I will be gleefully joining the ranks of the “converted”! I now find myself imagining that I have the car already - yesterday when I went for my first shot I even noticed there were charging spots at the inoculation site. I really hope when I return for #2, I will be pulling into one of those spaces! This rather long missive, is really just because I wanted to thank you for all these videos - you really should be getting a referral fee from Polestar, because I certainly would not have made the leap without your insights. Thank you.
Hi Victoria, thanks so much for the message and it really did bring a smile to my face! I'm very pleased that my videos have been helpful to you and I hope you enjoy the car when it finally arrives. I think my 'Don't buy a Polestar' video did put a few people off but I really wanted to be honest and not just constantly post positive videos but the truth is, for me, the issues have been very minor and this is without a doubt the best car I've ever owned! I had two nice BMW cars before this and they were great but this is just that little bit better. I hope the side effects of the vaccine aren't too unpleasant for you, I had my first one on Thursday and have felt exhausted since but very pleased to have been able to receive it.
I was surprised when you informed your viewers of your first planned use of the car, something we had all expected to be quite special, such as taking your wife to a fancy restaurant for a candlelight dinner. Never would I have guessed it would be to haul rubbish to the dump! Before learning it would be cardboard I had envisioned leaking bags of rotting food waste. Oh well, each to his own. After that sunk in I expected the dump to be halfway across England where there were some new fast chargers, but no, it was just a short trip to the tip and then you'd be off to see some turtle chargers.
Just heard that my PS2 will not be delivered tomorrow after all. There's a recall which involves the replacement of faulty inverters and the high voltage coolant heater on most customer vehicles! Hope they don't ask for yours back soon; or maybe it'll be safer if they do!
Gets brand new car, first thing you do? Go to the tip, then to B&Q xD. You're such a brit :). Lovely review, hope to get this car one day. The look alone is enough for me!
I did the same - locked myself in the back 🤣 Luckily I remembered a video saying the window lock switch turned the child locks off and I could reach through and press it. Quick question - do you need your own cable to use the Tesco charger?
I'm impressed, but one thing concerns me: the areas where there is no Android (or Apple) connectivity, and there are quite a few in Scotland. Glen Orchy for example. How does the car cope with no signal? My current diesel powered car's GPS nav. system throws up warning signals but doesn't affect the car's performance in such areas. Would the Polestar 2 (and the Tesla 3) be constrained? Also, the car comes with a 3-year Google/Android contract. What happens when that runs out?
@2good2be4gotten OK, OK, I'll bite! What do you mean, "what"? Do you typically drive 40 miles to test drive a car? Don't you think having only three locations in the US that the car can be seen in person is a bit odd cause I actually think it's pretty weird. It's a nice looking car and build quality is reported to be very good. I believe they should be part of any local Volvo dealership but apparently they see a different path for the brand and I'm doubtful they will succeed with their current plan
@2good2be4gotten OK, just a misunderstanding. Which Tesla are you getting? I'm still dragging my feet on ordering a Tesla S. Price is right and all that but my 2008 G35 runs just fine so I'm just waiting.....for what, I really don't know. I just want a change Took an S out for a test drive and promptly made contact with a parked car on the street. Shortest test drive in history! Believe it or not but the driveway of the dealership is at an acute angle to the roadway upon exit. I don't believe I've ever seen that before! No warning from salesman, so here I am, in a much bigger, unfamiliar vehicle trying to exit on to a busy roadway from a screwed up driveway. Crunch! Minor stuff but it was a miserably experience. Oh yeah, the damn horn didn't work either. So that pretty much killed my desire for new wheels. Maybe another test drive in a couple of months someplace else, yeah, definitely someplace else.
I am close to placing an order for a Polestar 2. Having seen a couple comments from others and RUclips reviews that the bashing of the knee is an issue? Is this something that you have experienced?
Yeah you'd think, however the button that locks the windows from being used at the back is also the button that childlocks the back doors! I've not come across that kind of setup before.
@@ShortCircuitPS2 Aha, thanks for the explanation. Less of a safety feature, more of a secure area to detain suspects. Sometimes a good olde manual mechanism still works the best. Car looks great and I'm enjoying the vids.
Hey, newly interested in EVs and very interested in Polestar 2! Watched most of your videos, but I was wondering if you managed a test drive before you bought this? Or just go with your gut! And did you also test drive the Performance Pack car too, how was the ride... harsh? I'm wondering if the extra styling and slightly annoying manual suspension adjustment is worth the 5k? Thanks Michael
I didn't actually test drive and just went for it! The standard model is quite firm on the road already. I personally don't think the performance pack is worth it unless you can work it into a company car allowance. I haven't tried the performance pack version but in reality the only useful upgrade is the suspension. The brakes are better but not that useful in reality as most of the time you end up using regen to slow down and not the actual brakes.
@@ShortCircuitPS2 nice and you should get better range with those. Any other issues for you and did it come with the recall fixes already applied? I’m hoping mine will come as up to date as possible.
@@jonmarsden2493 no issues so far, fortunately! I'm not sure about the recall, I haven't been contacted and I believe my VIN number is high enough to mean it's been done but I'm hoping to know for sure this week.
Hi, yes. At the moment there is just a single version of the Polestar 2 with the option to upgrade wheels and add the Performance Pack. The version I have is the standard car without Performance Pack. Polestar plan to add some other versions of the car which I believe will be downgraded, more affordable versions.

Yes total agree. Love the car but range definitely could be better!
Great insight
Thanks!

Great video. I'm interested in how you find the ride (firm/ smooth) as I'd go for the version without the performance pack too?
Wow that's a big drive way. How many cars can fit in there?
I did the same - locked myself in the back 🤣 Luckily I remembered a video saying the window lock switch turned the child locks off and I could reach through and press it.
Quick question - do you need your own cable to use the Tesco charger?
Haha, yes you do need your own cable. The one supplied with the Polestar works but only allows 3kw. A 32 amp will give the full 7kw.
Wow, cool!
Hi Bradley, can I ask what colour P*2 you have? I'm guessing it's Void but it looks metallic in the video

I would have thought that one could use Volvo On-Call fom ones phone to open the doors...unless those child locks are still mechanical.
