A quick note to say your in-depth Parts I & II review of the Polestar 2 were excellent compared to all the other reviews which I have seen. They were honest and balanced from someone whom had owned and drove the car for many miles. I had the options of either the Tesla Model 3 or this one. I am glad I decided to go with the Polestar 2. Storage and the overall cabin space weren't really an issue for me. It just looks nicer than the Tesla, plus there are too many of them on UK roads and motorways. Polestar offers something a little more unique. I am now very much looking forward to taking delivery of a SRSM in a few weeks' time. Although it's an entry level model which will suit me fine, it's the driving experience of switching from an ICE to an EV which I am excited about. Thank you very much!

Really excellent review of this car. At the moment I have a very very efficient Toyota Auris 1.8 Hybrid. I get an average of 72 to 79 mpg UK. On the motorway, it drops off a little around 66 to sometimes even 70 or so. I do get even better fuel economy in the summer though. I always use the pulse and glide technique. It is possible to get the engine to shut off even at 60 mph if the road is level just by gently feathering the gas peddle. As regards fuel savings I have saved over €900 a year which is awesome. I am thinking of upgrading to a PHEV either this year or at the latest early next year. I was thinking of getting a Prius PHEV, but they are in Cork, Galway, and Limerick. I'm in Dublin so the car I was thinking of getting is a 2019 or 2020 Hyundai Inoniq 1.6 PHEV. I heard they are very good and reliable cars. A BEV doesn't quite suit my needs.

What's the purpose of a CVT? Just use the front electric motor.

miles, gallon, p/mile? An ambitious review like this could benefit from taking into account that this video is most likely appreciated in areas where the metric system is used. The Americans don't care about hybrids anyway so go for € and kilometer to help lot's of ppl with that part of the content.

Good explanation. My phev (my 2021, 90000 km) makes around 25 km in below 0 degrees temperatures (dirving highway, speed around 100 km/h). Range would be a bit higher without pre-heating and lower cabin temperature, but I like to keep it nice and warm. Cabin heating eats a lot of energy (and of course there is already some battery degeneration in a 4 year old car). Yesterday I was sitting in car waiting at parking lot for one hour, and heating alone took 7 km range off, while outside temperature was -2 and inside 20c.

I can't understand the levels of self charge. Surely the only efficient occasions to self charge are; (1) when you'd ordinarily require the brakes to slow down, (2) to stop you gaining speed downhill. Charging to by using the engine or by losing speed during coasting is wasting energy. The system should only charge under conditions where you'd ordinarily require the brakes!

What model is this? I'm thinking of long term leasing a POLESTAR 2 200kW 69kWh Standard Range Single Motor 5dr Auto with maintenance included. Test drove the 82kWh today and loved it so interested to know what you think of the different specs and if leasing with maintenance is a good idea. Personally, I want a fixed cost every month and not have to worry about any undue service costs.

4:40 The consumption is a reference to driving at 110kph, or in your case 65mph. So, this does not reflect your trip's WH! Based on this reference, and together with other values of how fast you want to travel max etc., ABRP calculates the expected consumption for a route to suggest chargers. Setting this reference too high will just result in ABRP to suggest more frequent charges.

So the 24 model is better with recognising speed signs but they’ve taken away the manual limiter. So if it gets the sign wrong, you’re on your own. You only have an automatic limiter and you can’t set it a few mph above the limit. And the sensitivity is wild. If a butterfly flaps its wings in your car, the extra pressure on the accelerator will override the limiter. And none of the pilot functions work below 20mph. Given the whole point of a limiter and pilot assist is to stop me inadvertently getting speeding tickets, especially crawling through 20mph zones in London, all this drIves me nuts. (Pilot assist does work at 20 but you can’t kick it off til you are at 20 and not below, while the automatic limiter works the whole time unless aforementioned butterfly gets frisky).

You really can't go wrong with an Outlander PHEV. Drove one myself, can corroborate. 50 MPG plus 60 miles of electric only range, smooth ride, quiet too. What isn't to like about it?

Yes annoying software - you're so right. Total loss of 4G signal, and then the connection network - even when 4G magically reappears! Loss of Google maps at random times, and again whilst actually en route (lucky I can read a map!). Not phone connection, no contacts... oh I could go on and on... AND - braking for no reason (including on the motorway, with kids onboard). Windows opening when the car is out of sight? Air con on full, everytime the car is started... Polestar's response? I've been waiting over 2 weeks for them to reply. Stop building new models, fix the ones we've spent money buying into.

Check Battery degradation - 4% most other cars have 1-2%, very disappointing. Comfortable to drive but I will not buy one of these cars again.

I'm considering buying this as my first car. Would you recommend for someone without plug-in capability at home, i.e. charging only on engine/brakes? I figure it would still save me a lot in fuel costs. What attracts me to this car is its size, quietness, and affordability. Thanks

I bet you didn't pay anything near the cost of Polestar or BMW. Disclosure I own a 2014 Outlander GT V6. Great machine. Powerful, but it burns premium fuel and plenty of it. Gets the MPG of a small truck. But is also weigh a lots and as a rated carrying weight of 1158 lbs which is more than some small trucks. Rated to tow 3,500 lbs but I don't tow. S-AWC is outstanding in snow up to 8 inches but can muscle its way through 10 inches. I've had it for 10 years.

I currently have a lease Kia EV6, but my lease ends this year. I dont want to lease again so im considering buying a 3 year old PS2, because they seem by far the best value for a car with a decent towing capacity (which i need, for my boat).

The range is rubbish. If I can't travel for at least 10 hours non stop, I'm not travelling.
