    Like the sound of the more affordable 2WD one coming up and love the Swedish design, hopefully a decent lease deal and a bit of scrimping might mean I can try to get one! I like Tesla but the Model 3 just reminds me of an old Hyundai Accent for some reason especially from the front!

    I've had my Polestar 2 for about 5 weeks now so I speak from experience....
    Whoever came up with that 292 miles claimed range was living in some kind of dream world. Lots of short slow journeys give a real range more like 150 miles so assuming you try to stay between 20 and 80% you've probably got about 90 miles of driving before you need to plug in.
    I've no idea what you'd have to do in order to hit 292 miles. I might try it in summer.....
    The range and battery % figures never seem consistent. I've had it showing 90 miles at 50% and then 50 miles at 40% on the same day whilst not changing driving style. Hopefully a future software update will sort this but the update feature isn't live yet.
    Mine is going in for a recall in a week so maybe the range issue will improve, the recall is something to do with a heater so definitely range affecting...
    I absolutely love the car and it suits my driving circumstances perfectly fine. If I was doing 120 miles or more per day though I'd have been bitterly disappointed at the difference between claimed and real range.
    I've moved to this from a 5 series BMW and I'm not disappointed with either the drive or the build quality. Both are excellent. Until that range is sorted though I'd be very cautious before going for one if you are counting on the claimed figure.

    • @ericmunozhernandez1078
      @ericmunozhernandez1078 3 года назад

      Great to have real experience from current owner, thanks for sharing! keep us posted on the recall to see if it improved! Did you consider the tesla? why did you got the polestar instead? (I am a fam of both, but love more the swedish quality of volvo/polestar interiors, which for my taste, tesla far behind in that sense)

    • @1evilpie
      @1evilpie 3 года назад +1

      @@ericmunozhernandez1078 I considered the long range Tesla even getting as far as agreeing the terms with the leasing Company. When it came down to finalising everything though I realised I wasn't even remotely excited about the prospect so knew it couldn't be right for me. To be honest I find the interior bland and the outside just not quite to my liking. From some angles they look superb but from others I just don't like them. Without doubt it's technologically the best there is though.
      The final straw that made me go for the Polestar was that they had an amazing lease deal at just under £400 + VAT per month (£150 les than the Tesla at the time) so that's what made the decision easy.

      The range is derived from a specific test regime- as for all EVs. In reality most seem to achieve something like 75% of that in real life. Bit like the manufacturers MPG figures in conventional cars!

    I really like it, but why restrict sales by making it so hard to buy the damn car? Geely has a dealer network (Volvo) already up and running and perfectly capable of selling and maintaining these cars. They do - or at least, will be doing - so for the XC40 P8 (the same car under the skin!). Whoever decided to adopt this sales model (i.e. copy Telsa) is an idiot! It works for Tesla because they don't have a network of resellers, but Tesla does have a recharging network that others can only dream of. Come-on Geely, you just gave away your main advantage and taken away the ease of sale that Telsa can't offer. Why shoot yourself in the foot this way?

      A Volvo chassis will always be safe and reliable. We'll see about this new all electric technology. I personally will wait a year or 2 so they work out all the bugs. Current Volvo owner but want an EV eventually.

      Well, I've only had a 30 minute test-drive to date. However, having previously owned cars like Jaguar XF ( 4 litre ICE ) and Jaguar XJR, and a Lexus IS300H hybrid (for a small taste of EV driving) the Polestar impressed me immensely. Enough to buy one, in fact.

      Have you considered the possibility that you might be a boring person?
