I'm beginning to see their discography runs deeper than I first imagined.. we un-earthed some gems today! 👏🏻 I want to check out some of their 'Wish Bus' stuff next; let me know which songs to watch below! 💜
Totoo! They can even make the typical unimpressive beats sound good/unique. Kahit eme eme yung lyrics, tunog de kalidad pa din. I once saw a comment from interfan na catchy daw yung Summer to the Max kahit di nya naiintindihan-that was before she learned the english translation of that song😂
The Kasmala video references two events. One is the exhibition of Filipinos at the 1904 World’s Fair in St. Louis, Missouri USA, where they were treated like specimens at a zoo. The other is the Watsonville riots in California in 1930, where white mobs attacked Filipino farm workers because they were afraid Filipinos were taking their jobs and their women.
@@HSMKY-k4e There is a Pinoy historian named Kirby Araullo who reacted to Alamat’s Kasmala (and some of their other mv’s). He has the reactions on his RUclips channel. Watching them was eye-opening to me as a Filipino-American, born and raised. It was upsetting to learn about, but I also knew that I couldn’t stay angry about it because it was in the past. I’m 67 now, and the world for my children and grandchildren is a lot more diverse and accepting, thankfully.
what i love about ppop is that they don't sound very alike , they have different distinct sound most specially ALAMAT they are my second of the best ppop group , i love their sound so very distinct that when you listen to the song you will automatically know that it's ALAMAT ❤❤❤
Right. All groups have their own uniqueness na masasabi mong sa kanila lng tlga. And tbh mas nakikinig and nagstretream na ko sa ppop more than kpop ngayon.Bini sb19 g22 bgyo and this group.Grabe kada araw di tlga ako nagsasawa sa kanilang lahat.
ALAMAT’s ABKD and ILY-ILY are also nice songs and has a great meaning behind it. I agree at what you said that Alamat is not afraid to show a different kind of concept. That’s why they are one of a kind. You can feel that they are proud of our culture and where they come from. Aswang is a mythical creature in the Philippines that has a long tongue. Kinda like a mananaggal too, the creature in SB19’s MANA. Alamat has a great discography. Thank you for listening to them. 🤎
That's TOMAS of ALAMAT the one you are pointing to in the second music video. I'm happy that you like his voice and my bias in ALAMAT. I really appreciate that you're slowly discovering Ppop because there are really a lot of talented groups in Ppop that need recognition on how good their music is so thank you ❤ More SB19 and Ppop video reaction soon.
Fun fact: The boys are usually credited as lyricists in most of their songs w/ several languages in, but in Gayuma in particular, Mo is credited as its producer G22'S AJ is the Techno Babaylan (Ancient term for priestess) but actually a Manggagayuma (witch/potion brewer) in Gayuma Litz' Fatima (disbanded sister group of Alamat) plays the Aswang (folklore monster in the Philippines) :)
Alamat's discography is so original and dope. Love everything about them, especially my baby Mo.. omg don't get me started with his insanely sensual r&b vocals and swag visuals! 😍🥰😘 Plus they're the only group who sings 7-8 languages out of the 180 Philippine languages. That's powerful representation, start getting radio stations to play non-tagalog songs. Sometimes I dont understand a thing they're singin but I stan them so badly. I've been into P-POP and OPM recently and I'm hooked!
Aswang and Gayuma are some of the many of superstitious beliefs in the Philippines. For me I believe it’s true. Aswang is some sort of shape shifter Ghoul/Vampire/monster. And Alamat was singing how they fell in love with this monster and she can devour them anytime. Gayuma-is a love potion, The lady in the video is “Aj from G22 (deep voice girl). she was like an enchantress that Allured Alamat. The potion effect was steamy, blurry, hazy thus the effects on the visual and voices in the video. I mean even the sexy dancing was just on the spot.
ALAMAT is the best male group for me; they have the best discography and are not the typical "birit, birit" thing; they incorporate Filipino culture and music.
You've got it right Sammy, most if not all of their MVs are packed. One watch is not enough or you'll miss most of the details especially since they put in so many cultural aspects in them. Their attires are always partly inspired by either traditional wear or otherwise modern clothing but with traditional fabrics. Very underrated group.
Okay suggestion. If you're going to do another one, please react to Walang Hanggan and Sa Panaginip Nalang in the same reaction video. They go hand and hand. Enjooooooy
Hi Sam! If you are looking for Wish Bus performance of Alamat, I would like to recommend Say U Love Me, ILY ILY, Dayang, Kasmala and Day and Night. The vocals there are way better than the music video.
🇵🇭 The featured or guest lady as the "cyberpunk or cyberpunk-like", VR, "alien or alien-like", enchantress character in the Gayuma MV is the leader or "henerala" ("female general") of the female alphas of P-pop, G22.
Okay Sammy, first I don’t even know Alamat but because of you I watched it because you have the best reaction. They are good! You are so funny! “Different muscle in the pelvic area..” and how they have diff occupation. Lol!! You have the best reaction from the song, vocal quality, choreo, instruments, etc you cover it all.
Thank you for featuring ALAMAT once again on your channel. 🥰🙏🏼 Btw, the members' name are on the subtitles, written before every line they sing respectively 😉
Thank you for doing another ALAMAT reaction. How about these songs: kbye, ABKD, porque, and ILY ILY, as the next set? These four songs features multiple Philippine languages and also vary in genres. Looking forward to it.
My magiliw heart is just so happy rn! I just watched your first rv of them earlier, now we finally have this! Thank you so much!! We look forward to more of your alamat content 🤎🫶
Thank you for listening to ALAMAT, Sam! when i first discovered them i watched their videos several times - they're packed with "easter eggs". Every single detail is well thought out.
Their rap track Dagundong is elite. And Ily-ily plays around with different genres! But yeah, their wish bus performances are on another level. Their Gayuma has a rap outro special from Mo. And Say U Luv Me is so much vocally superior in the wish bus. Check them out!
Say U Love Me is probably one of my fave Wish Bus performances. Mo actually wrote Gayuma himself so in the Wishbus performance, he added an exclusive verse at the end that you won't hear performed anywhere else. ILY ILY is also a fantastic Wish Bus performance but I feel like you need one video that's just ILY ILY - MV and Wish Bus. Because that song is a wild adventure. In terms of live performances, seeing Aswang danced on stage is a real treat that the MV can't really do justice. Find any recent high quality fancam of a live event. My suggestion is MLBB (Mobile Legends: Bang Bang) event.
When they were debuted in 2021, there were 9 members. By April 2022, they continued with 6 members. Thanks for reacting to them and appreciating their music= their advocacy to bring Filipino language, culture, history and fashion to the mainstream pop industry
🇵🇭 You might have missed some of the context in Aswang MV, because it seemed that you turned off the available English captions or subtitles for the MV. For some context and additional information, an "aswang" (ahs-WAHNG) is an umbrella term for native shape-shifting evil beings or creatures in Philippine or Filipino folklore and mythology that's generally and commonly translated into English as "monster", although a "monster" in Filipino is generally a "halimaw" (ha-LEE-mahw) instead of more specifically an "aswang". For more precise and better parallel categories with Western folklore and mythology, "aswangs" are categorized into five categories: vampires, self-segmenting viscera suckers, weredogs or transforming/shape-shifting huma-beast hybrids, witches or ghouls. By the way, the self-segmenting viscera sucker category of "aswangs" is the inspiration of SB19's Mana. In the MV, they used the concept of an "aswang", which in the MV is presented as of the vampire or vampiric category of "aswangs" (but are different in the Philippines compared to the Western vampires, as these "aswangs" are commonly disguising as beautiful women by the day commonly to attract or lure men as their common victims or to be their husbands and later victims, and then transform into a vampire-like or vampiric creature or being at night to suck blood slowly through their proboscis-like tongue until the victims are drained out of their blood, instead of their fangs, canine teeth, or by sucking the blood through the mouth after puncturing the neck of the victim with the fangs or canine teeth like the Western vampires), as a metaphor and symbolism for a toxic woman in a toxic relationship with her man, with the man being trapped with her in that toxic relationship just because of his blind love and of him being submissive, subservient and/or also masochistic to her (At least that's how I understand the lyrics' meanings and denotations in relation to the title, theme and concept of the "aswang" creature or being, and it as a character, metaphor, symbolism and inspiration, and in relation to relationships). The featured or guest lady as the vampire-like or vampiric "aswang" character in the MV is Fatima from LITZ, a former and unofficially disbanded or presumably disbanded P-pop idol girl group from March 8, 2022 to late 2022 or early 2023. LITZ is from the same label as ALAMAT, and was kind of like ALAMAT's idol sister group.
AAAACCCK!! Im so sad you didn't see the lyrics for the aswang mv. that's what im looking forward to. It's so funny how people react to the lyrics HAHAHAHA still a great video 🤙🤙
My secret gem is getting recognized! >< ALAMAT is my #2 next to SB19 because of the INSANE depth of their craft. Every aspect of their art has a touch of Filipino cultural style and customs that even locals fail to acknowledge. It's a common thing here in our country to not appreciate and be expressive of our own shit, but this group embraces it and turns things around.
They are actually a 9 member boy group but 3 left. The ladies in their MVs are member of different PPOP girl groups. And, Kasmala MV is about those times where native Filipinos were put in a zoo for Western people’s amusement.
The song lyrics are in different Filipino dialects (Tagalog, Cebuano, Kapangpangan, etc.). When the Philippines became a colony of America, tribal Filipinos were exhibited in the World Fair in St. Louis, Missouri as savages. In reality, different regions of the Philippines have developed cultures and civilizations. The white figures are Americans (white). Some places in America during that time are segregated between white and black America.
@@hannahpsych3072 You can see the different stylish clothes and art/dances of other regions of the Philippines. While the World Fair highlighted the backward tribal Filipinos. It validates the legitimacy of American colonization to educate the "savages who are not fit to govern themselves" ["Manifest Destiny"]. In reality, the First Philippine Republic has a constitution, post offices, national army, taxation system, monetary system, etc. There was an economy in the process of transforming the Philippines into a developed country at the turn of the 20th century.
Alamat means legend or folklore. Kasmala or malakas means strong. Song is depicting part of the history of the Philippines when Ameican colonized the country. The portrayal of slavery. Aswang means evil person like vampire. Gayuma means spell or potion. This group Alamat sings in different dialects like Tagalog, Visayas, Ilocano, etc.
You didn't turn on the captions for aswang. Aswang is a shape shifter vampire like creature in Filipino folklore. That is why the eerie vibe. Featured artist was Fatima of LITZ as Queen Aswang
Hi Sam! Welcome to the rabbit hole of ALAMAT! Here's my wish bus performances recos for you: ILY ILY Gayuma Say U Love me Dayang Day and Night And please react to their Walang Hanggan MV and Sa Panaginip Nalang MV... These two are Ballad songs. Thank you!. And Welcome to Magiliw (means Beloved) fandom of ALAMAT!.
I reckon PPop's musical experimentation comes natural and effortless coz of the mix of cultures embedded in our history. From our indigenous tribes to the Malays, our Polynesian ancestors. The Arabs, Indians, and Chinese. Then the Spaniards and other Latino race in the Galleon trade, then the Americans. All these cultures reflect in our languages, dances, vocal styles, etc. We don't need to copy trends tbh coz we're more than that, we just have to go back to our roots!
Thanks for this RV..lyrics wise, this is a good combination😅 for nex RV's I recommend for live performance, apart from wish bus, is their Rappler live. Then their collaborations also: Catching Feelings x Kbye, Tibay 'yan, Kapit, Ngayong Gabi, and Ang Galing Dito.
That first song Kamala is about Colonialism and how Filipinos were treated. There were places in USA they didn’t want Filipinos allowed. Also they are singing is different language s. They are very much about Filipino culture!!
Kasmala MV portrays colonizers and how they treated us Filipinos back in the day but the song means something else entirely lol. ALAMAT is really great because they tackle a lot of Philippine issues and cultures but the boys are also extremely talented. Like Aswang tells you about 'aswang', they're mythical monsters in the Philippines that eat people, mostly women with long tongues, just like Manananggal (yes, the SB19 song) which separates their torsos whilst the upper body has demon-like wings. Tomas is the one you're talking about that has a pitch that's closer to a female voice. Jao is the one you keep saying has a smooth voice. I love them but I cannot get used to them body-rolling I feel they're too baby for me so it's awkward lmao it's like how I feel about SB19 Justin - way too precious and pure but that's just me LOL. I'm glad you're checking and enjoying them because their songs are the BEST! But I expected a lot because their agency, Viva Records, is a well-known label in the Philippines and they've been in the industry for as long as I could remember. (Granted, the boys pitched in a lot to their music too! So they're absolutely talented!)
I'm beginning to see their discography runs deeper than I first imagined.. we un-earthed some gems today! 👏🏻

thank you for reacting to Alamat! Yes Jao's vocals is nice.. His rap style ate!
Wooo! Go Alamat!!
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH I WATCHED YOUR ADS IN ITS ENTIRETY. YASSSS WISH BUS PERFORMANCES Dayang and their ballads please!
"Gayuma"... my most fave Alamat song!
Aswang bass is being sample from michael jackson thriller but restructured (idk what its called).
For their wishbus performance, ILY ILY, Dayang, and Gayuma are definitely necessary! Their vocals are so heavenly
Thank you for supporting ALAMAT ❤
Wish bus ILY ILY, it has a lot of music genre packed in one song
