The thing about Alamat is that they don't shy away from really hard topics. To those who might not know a lot about PH history, their lyricism might come off as too strong esp on this one. To a lot of filipinos this is common knowledge, so this is just pure story telling. Its great that alamat is doing this so the youth would not shy away from history bc there's so much to learn from it. It might sound like we still harbor ill-thoughts towards Spanish till this day but truth is we really dont. For context, theres no narrative flying around in politics, streets ---i can confidently say--- in thoughts -about any grudge for the Spaniards. We understand that you dont really inherit the sins of your father. Again its just all facts that it happned- pure story telling. Its just important to know history and learn from it.

The MV shows re-enactments from the moment the Spanish arrived in the Philippines, the Philippine Revolution, and how we were handed off to a new colonizer (American conquerers at the time).
Mo and Alas' back and forth verses before Mo's spanish verse were talking about how they won the battle against Spaniards but somehow they still conquered us. Hence the verse is in Spanish and them telling us to pay tax "Well, this is for your sake. Pay your taxes to the City Council".

She was quite thorough in her analysis.. For KASMALA, visual elements did bring history & culture, but the lyrics is quite indirect.. Some interpreted the "girl" in the lyrics to represent the colonizers, & how most Filipinos are still quite beholden by "her".. lol well some of us did know about Alamat when they debuted but then had a gap in reacting due to life situations. So we were familiar with Alamat before getting fully into them now while they are 6 ppl. But we see Gami so much in social media especially TikTok especially with the boys so we’ve become very familiar with him 😂😂😂

The subtitles are correct. Gami was there when the song was being recorded and was asked to shout to use as a background sound.
