This is one of the best and underrated usmle RUclips channel ❤❤. Thanks for your advice sir😊. I have one doubt.
If I need to revise any system
Just reviewing the uworld is enough or do I need to read whatever is there in FA
    For example
    I just finished microbiology
Do I need to revise everything what's there in FA and sketchy
Or just reviewing uworld is enough?

Thanks for your support! Honestly, that’s a bit of a loaded question. One person could have every single resource in the world, and still not learn the material properly, whereas another person might only have a question bank + the internet and learn it extremely well. Rather than focus on what resource you use, the more important focus by far is how you use it. The people in the top 1% and the bottom 1% on these exams, aren’t using substantially different resources. However, the WAY they use those resources is vastly different.

Hi! I got a 63% on my first NBME for step 1, I really want to get an 84% since I noticed around that ballpark is what equates to a 240. I want to make sure I have a strong base before I move on to step 2 prep. I have been scoring 70s/80s mostly on UW blocks untimed subject / tutor. 67% complete with 73% average. I think timing was a big problem on my NBME - guessed 10-12 qs on the first block due to lack of time - but in the subsequent blocks guessed between 3-5 qs. Do you think doing timed random may go a long way to give me a score jump? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks for your question, and great job on your first practice test. I think it’s a great idea to try to get as a high score as possible to set you up well for Step 2, given how in the past how strong of a correlation between the two scores was.
To improve your timing, I would focus on two things, first, as you said practice doing timed questions, it doesn’t have to be a completely mixed block to start if you want to get your toes wet, but that should be your ultimate aim. Second, make sure you never spend more than two minutes on a question, since often times when people struggle with timing it’s because they perseverate on a handful, which robs questions at the end of time.

    Alec what’s up body!?
    I’m stuck on 55% !
I have done one pass in the entire UW w/ Anki + videos (2 more sources) for 1 year. Now I’m my second year studying for step 1 . Has been very hard and frustrating man.
I have only 4 days to study because other 3 days of the week I’m working on my shifts. (I’m emergency doctor).
    Today I’m using Amboss (better price ) + Anki + FA .
    Any suggestions??

Thanks so much for your thoughtful question. I’m so sorry to hear how difficult this process has been. Have you been through this video yet? I like the video , I am now nearly finished 1100/3700+ q of uworld
I think of not finishing the qbank to hasten exam time and instead I will focus on my weaknesses in every chapter and understanding the nbmes ,, It's an audacious decision I'm afraid of, Do u advise ?

Thanks for your kind of words. I think you’re asking if, rather than focusing on trying to just complete the question bank, if you should focus on mastering the things that you don’t know, is that right? If so, I think that that is wise. The most important thing that you can learn is to learn things well, never forget them, and make sure that you’re able to apply them by seeing that you can get at least 80% of the questions on those topics correct.

Hi! I absolutely Love your videos and content. I wonder if you can advise: how to do more questions if you are using UWORLD to learn from? I’m using UWORLD to learn, and it’s taking ages. I can’t possibly do 40 per day. I have heaps of time, not on a schedule, but what would you recommend? I’m trying to learn the concepts I didn’t get in med school, so that’s where I am on the ‘SCORE’ framework 😬.
With many thanks in advance 🙏

Thanks for your support and kind words! If you’re still on the “Study Concepts” stage, honestly, I don’t know that I would worry too much about trying to do way too many questions. Instead, your goal should be too learn how to see things conceptually, and understand things deeply, which you should see in your scores going up for the things that you’re studying. Quantity is an important goal, but the first thing that most people need to work on is quality.

@@alec.palmerton_md thank you 🙏 I’m not sure how to put a bunch of examples together like you suggested with your example of one concept that may fit several different examples (as you described when you went through the 3 physics questions). Does that make sense?
