    4 years ago, wow! I was missing out! I really enjoyed this "behind the scenes video" and I took notes. Thank you so much for this video! (and all your others). It gives me great ideas and will help with the piece I am working on a lot!Hello from Montana! (Nov.30, 2022!)

      Thank you! I have a bunch of content I filmed but haven't edited yet. So I hope to have more content sometime.... I would like to see your project you are working on. Do you have anywhere you post pics of it?

    Wow. Your dragons are so awesome. I do a lot of paper mache as well. I focus on wild animals mostly. I absolutely love your work. My picture is of a miniature fox I made just recently. I love this medium of art because you can use your imagination and create anything your heart desires. You are really amazing and your techniques are pretty close to what I do. I love it.

    Quite technical but very useful! Thanks man, bookmarked in case any of these issues come up. Love your idea of black undercoating - other paper mache dinosaur guys never mentioned this and I can definitely see how it would be a problem.

    Thank you Ray !!! You and Dan are really great about helping others !!! One suggestion I have is I would like to see a more detailed time lapse video. I realize it would be really long, but some of the time lapse are so quick it is really hard to pick up some of the stuff you are doing. Even pausing them to study them doesn't work very well. Thanks -Troy

      What part in particular are you referring too? The main reason I do not slow it down like that is because Dan wrote a book on how to do this stuff. I learned it from his book and dont want to take stuff from his book and put it out there, doesn't seem right for me to do that. But if there is something in particular you need help with, I can answer questions. Especially if it is something that I do different from Dan.

      Hey Ray, thanks for responding. I guess it is not any one thing, just in general. I have Dan's books and all these RUclips videos are a great help. I am about 3/4 of the way through my first dragon. One thing I have a hard time with is getting the strips of paper to wrap around a long piece of hanger (wings, horns, etc.). I guess it just takes practice and I plan on doing a lot of that :)

      @RaysDragonLair  6 лет назад

      IUPapabear I switched from paper to aluminum foil to do that. Doing long strips with paper is a pain in the ass so, I get the hot glue gun and put some on the end of the wire and attach the foil and start wrapping. The glue keeps the wire from sliding in and out and the foil holds the shape so you can wrap it with tape. You can then roll it out like making a snake with clay to smooth it out. I find that much easier than the paper. But if you use paper, put the roll of tape between your legs, while sitting, and pull a piece out and attach it to the wire. Now wrap the paper while twisting the wire so it covers the paper as you roll it down. I think there is footage of me doing this in one of my videos. I don't really like doing that part either, the foil method is quicker and easier. Please post pictures of your dragon somewhere when you finish it, I would like to see it. Hope this helps.

      Ray's Dragon Lair Thanks. I have use foil on some areas as well but hadn’t thought about that for the long pieces. Thanks for the tip.

      BTW do you use any particular brand of masking tape. I have been using the cheap stuff but have noticed that if I leave it sitting for awhile before I get time to work on it again the ends will start to peel back. It is not a big problem but have thought about trying 3M just to see if it lays down better-Troy

    On all my projects I use that instamorph plastic. It’s cheap and very easy to use!

      I am editing a video now that shows how I connected the Trex I mad to the plaque. There is another technique I use that I learned from reading Dan Reeder's book. I suggest buying it. It is a great source for how to make paper mache dragons. gourmetpapermache.com/about-my-books/

    Some helpful criticism
    The dragons need lips and if it were alive... to close it's mouth
    The spikes on their heads look heavy or troublesome for the dragon to love with
