    Move over White Zombie dragon
    That Yellow/Golden one is AMAZING, It legit looks terrifying, that white eye just gives it that "undead" finish, without a doubt it's my new favorite.
    I was actually surprised, when I saw the purple eyed one had different horns, I think you haven't done horns like that before, if it's a first I really like it.
    The Hairs kinda gave it that velociraptor type look which was a change but didn't like the scales on that one.
    That purple eye though, is a very welcome touch.

    As a fellow artist, I can really appreciate the amount of effort you always put into these! I want to start doing some paper mache stuff, but I’m a little inexperienced. What kind of paints do you use for stuff like the “saliva” and creases? Is the black stuff just watered down acrylic?

    • @Gourmetpapermache
      @Gourmetpapermache  5 лет назад +1

      Thanks for the nice note! Yes, despite how it looks in the videos it does take significant time and effort to make these. But I enjoy the process so I don't mind. I use clear casting resin for the drool. I'm not sure what you mean about the creases. And yes the blackwashing is just black paint with water added. I use all purpose paint (it's all acrylic these days). Any water based paint will work. Good luck with your art!

    Do you think its possible to make a life size creature or human model? Would you recommend using hangers for frame support? LOVE the added lighted bits. My whole day has been watching your videos mostly. Time well spent. New hobby obsession.

    • @Gourmetpapermache
      @Gourmetpapermache  4 года назад +1

      Again, I'm very flattered. Glad you enjoyed your day learning these techniques. You certainly can make projects that are human sized. Clothes hangers would work even on projects that big. I have also used aluminum bars and round tube held together with pipe clamps. PVC is also great for armatures for large projects. Good luck to you!

    These are amazing as usual. I love your dragons! For the white/blue one how did you make the feather looking hair down the spine? It looks so real. I was also wondering if you would be making a new book anytime soon with some new techs? I own all your books so far but you've come up with some new things since so I was curious.

    • @Gourmetpapermache
      @Gourmetpapermache  7 лет назад +1

      Thanks Tylar! Not sure about the books. They take a very long time to write. It's a year of doing nothing else. I do show some of my new things on my blog. The mane on this dragon is just hair (from a wig) dipped in white glue in strands, then painted. A pain. But I think it made a good effect. Glad you like it!

    • @AlicesWhoRuHouse
      @AlicesWhoRuHouse 7 лет назад

      GourmetPaperMache yes it gave a very good effect! I would have never even. Thought that it could be a wig, but amazing job as usual. I've tried making a smaller dragon myself it's not easy you make it look so effortless. Lol

    I did a 5 ft long paper mache dragon in high school already so long ago, but once in awhile I wish I could do it again (no space at home).

    Excuse me man, I've got another question for you. Once the process of covering your model with papermache is complete, to get a smooth surface is it possible to use sand paper? Or you think I'm gonna ruin it? Thanks a lot, once I'm done I'll post my creation on your blog ;D

    • @Gourmetpapermache
      @Gourmetpapermache  6 лет назад

      Hey there. Sanding does not work with cloth. It will just fray. The paint will smooth the project out a lot. If pieces are sticking up, you can cut them off and patch with pieces of cloth. Sorry, wish I had better advice.

    👌👌👌 very cool as always but I am interested by the fact that you used fire to blacken the dragon was it a effect you couldn’t get with paint or was it just easier 👍

    • @Gourmetpapermache
      @Gourmetpapermache  7 лет назад

      Thank you Connor. With the fire I was able to get some great burnt edges on the horns and curled burnt pieces of cloth. It looks a lot better in person. Photos don't do it justice. I've used fire before (see my Dark Butterfly video). It is a cool effect for some projects. Btw I sealed it afterwards with spray on Varathane.

    Cool dragons, Dan! I've been trying to get a space cleared in my garage so I actually have a place to potentially make some dragons for myself (or, knowing me, start making one, then abandon the project for like, a year, until it taunts me to the point where I finish it) using the techniques I've seen you use.

      Thank you Sara. The fringe was kind of a pain. I cut tufts of hair off a wig and dipped them in white glue. Once dry, I painted them.

    Sabes Dan, queria escribir en ingles pero soy muy malo en eso y veo que entiendes el español o lo traduces, asi que te quiero decir lo siguiente.
    Yo soy un gran fan tuyo desde hace 5 años, cuando mi estancia en internet empezo, ¡veo que subias videos hace mas de nueve años! Eres el mejor en lo que haces, tus trabajos son hermosos y muy elaborados, para mi eres una persona que pone mucho empeño en sus videos, pues me encanta la edicion que haces. Sabes, es una gran lastima que solo tenga 14 años, ¡pero cuando sea mayor le comprare algo!¡ya vera! Hace como 2 años me respondio un comentario y ese dia fui realmente feliz, pero en otra cuenta... Como ultima cosa solo le quiero decir que es el mejor en lo que hace y cada vez que sube algo, me sorprende, gracias por todo.
    PD: descanse en paz Eddie

      Muchas gracias por tus amables palabras. Estoy muy halagado. Estoy feliz de que te gusten mis videos. Realmente aprecio que mencionaron la edición porque trabajo mucho en eso. Y gracias por su simpatía hacia mi pequeño Eddie. Él fue muy especial para mí. Por último, tengo 67 años. He estado haciendo mi arte por muchos años. Todavía me encanta hacerlo. ¡Así que estoy feliz cuando a alguien también le gusta el trabajo!
      Cuídate

      PD. Yo uso el traductor de Google. Desearía poder hablar español.

    Hi what is your solution u use for the paper mache is it just water and plain flour? If so how many parts?

    • @Gourmetpapermache
      @Gourmetpapermache  6 лет назад

      I usually use flour and water in about equal measure. But it gets thicker as I work so I continually add water to keep the consistency I want.

    Wow your works amazing!! What types of paints do you use? And is it the same paint type for the black washing just mixed with water ? 😊

    • @Gourmetpapermache
      @Gourmetpapermache  6 лет назад

      Thank you Leah. I use all purpose paint I buy at the hardware store. Any water based paint will work. And yes, the blackwash is just black paint with water added. How much water determines how dark the accents. Good luck!

      Thanks so much for the reply! I have another question haha. How do you attach the dragon head itself to the mount ? 😊

    • @Gourmetpapermache
      @Gourmetpapermache  6 лет назад

      I drill holes through the wood around the neck and put pieces of wire clothes hangers through. Then I attach the wire to the neck with tape and sculpt over it. I attach the wire to the back of the wood with U tacks. You can see a little bit of this at the 1:00 mark on this video, ruclips.net/video/_37uwY2njss/видео.html.

      GourmetPaperMache thanks so much dan. So many questions! Haha The only item I’ve struggled finding without spending lots of £££s is the sheets you use for the cloth mache do you buy them in bulk? Or as a roll of fabric? 😊

    • @Gourmetpapermache
      @Gourmetpapermache  6 лет назад

      I buy old sheets at "thrift" or second hand stores. Never pay more than $5 for them.

    Hello, I just wanted to say that I really admire your work and I had a question about your methods for my project. I making a Rathalos head from the game Monster Hunter. I want to know what the clear stuff you are brushing in the mouth at the end of the video is and do you know if it is water-proof? I want to incorporate a fog effect in the mouth of my dragon, but I don't want to ruin my paint job.

    • @Gourmetpapermache
      @Gourmetpapermache  6 лет назад

      Hello Shaylin. The shiny stuff is essentially liquid plastic. It's called "Clear Casting Resin". I use TAP brand. Be careful to use gloves and eye protection and do it out doors. You use catalyst and it can be dangerous. It is definitely water proof if you completely cover all the surfaces. Good luck!

    Q buenísimo me gusta mucho ver tus videos no m canso de verlos. Quisiera aprender tu arte pero no creo q hayan clases de eso por aki... Aunque tengo una pequeña idea de como va el arte solo que no se q material usas para recubrirlo el molde antes de pintarlo

      Hola Jorge. Después de esculpir con las piezas de papel maché (usando cinta adhesiva) agrego una "piel" de tela (sábanas viejas) bañadas en pegamento blanco para todo uso. Eso es lo que estás viendo.
