Meadowlark Chalet Log Home, Roof Is On, Walk-Through With Elvie, Preparing For Stain Varnish

- This Meadowlark Chalet Log Home is based on the floor plan of the Meadowlark Log Homes office in Libby, Montana.
Elvie arrives at the building site for his first look at the home since it was put together by the Meadowlark Log Homes crew. The homeowners are pleased with their new home and have requested that Meadowlark’s finish crew stain, varnish and chink the home. This process involves a thorough cleaning of the house on the exterior in preparation for three coats of stain, a sanding and buffing of the interior log walls and cleaning and then applying 4 coats of plant-based interior clear finish.
Elvie feels it is best to take a view of the home before proceeding with the stain, varnish and chink. The owners have chosen a color sample which is left on the porch for them to review. The color is going to be Leather from the TimberPro plant-based exterior stain.

We have friends in Pagosa Springs, CO who built their log house in the late sixties.
Johnny was a logger, so back then he got his logs at below cost because he was the one who picked each tree and cut them down. His boss allowed him to use all of their equipment to get everything ready and then used their equipment to build their house.
They heated their entire house with a fireplace.
Their 4 boys are about the same age as my sister and myself.
We’ve been friends since 1969.
The log house still looks like new.

That cabin is way too BIG for our needs, but it is Gorgeous.
My wife and I have decided that when we’re ready to have our “Trout” cabin built, we’ll hire Meadowlark to do the job.
I swore after our last build that we would never ever build another house again, but we’ll take the chance again to have a beautiful log cabin.
I suggest the best thing for you to do first of all is reach out to Ben at the Meadowlark Log Homes office 800-850-8554 and talk to him. The second thing is to plan a trip to visit and get a tour of Meadowlark and some Trout Creek homes here in the area.
Almost all of my wife’s family live throughout Montana, so I’m quite sure we’ll be able to swing by next year.

A NICE LOG CABIN LIKE THAT AND Y'ALL PUT THAT CHEAP ASS OSB FLOORING DOWN!
That is subfloor. The finish floor goes on top of that. The OSB is standard flooring in the United States used on nearly all residential and commercial floor.
One day I want to see Montana and if I live long enough lord willing I would like to meat up with you I’m amish to and I love your videos one day I will fuel up the truck and tell my driver let’s go I might hit you up to meet up with you we do electrical and solar work actually any residential work here in Ohio Montana is a very beautiful state
I hope you come visit! We love Ohio. Most of my wife’s family lives in northern Holmes, Wayne county areas and Geuaga county.
I would like to see flour plans or layout so you could customize it for your needs. I assuming they just do the shell and the buyer has to have someone else finish the inside. Is that right?
Meadowlark produces the handcrafted log package and our crews will also reassemble it on site including the roof. Most of the time we build the floors logs and roof and a local contractor will finish the rest.
What does that exact cabin cost as it sits for you to build it? With the cleaning and staining process??
I shouldn’t quote you prices here it would be better if you got a real price from the Meadowlark staff at the office. But I think the owners have over 400,000 in the project so far and by the time they are done there going to be pushing 800,000.

I’m not sure what their total cost will be completely finished but I would imagine $700-$800,000
I would like my children to also live in nature and have many children, not in the city. How do you manage to persuade your children to stay on the ground?
The children can choose, and there is nothing mandatory. Some of the children leave to go to school for a while, but many of them do come back.
