I agree. Plus It doesn't hurt some of these newer tablets don't offer any major innovations/improvements over the Note 10.1 even though that tablet is close to 3 years old. Also it's still arguably the highest end tablet Samsung has made.
moe A The software is somewhat outdated now. It's on Lollipop now but who knows if it'll ever get updated to Marshmallow and the graphics processor isn't up to task for playing the most demanding games smoothly anymore but if you can get a good deal on one its a good tablet still especially for watching movies and stuff as it has a great screen.
I'll tell you guys one thing. As a diehard android fan, I never thought I'll buy an iPad. After some time, I kept seeing android tablets failing after a year or two (including my nexus 10) so I got myself an iPad Pro 9.7 (first apple device I've ever used). I am very pleased with its performance and yes, no lag! Battery is amazing too (even the nexus 10 that has a much bigger battery still can't compete with battery life on the iPad) to summarize everything, if you are thinking about a tablet, just get an iPad.
***** not being able to access external storage through usb adapters IS a joke. But you can get that pen (useless in my opinion) if you want to do digital art. The screen is pretty good too I have to say (brightest screen on any device yet) I am fine with only changing my wallpaper and nothing else. Also the 4:3 aspect ratio is better for everything except watching video ( especially for 21:9 movies) so I'd say it is a win win for me. If you want free apps , get the tongbu app. It works well and has updates so u don't have to uninstall the apk to get the newest version of the paid app which is a hassle one android. All in all, iOS 10 is getting android features so that's some good news for every apple user.
+Raphael Miguel it's quite likely an X1 powered nvidia tablet will release In the near future but I don't know about pricing, obviously the shield home console box is powered by the X1 and it's pretty cheap but the google pixel C tablet is also powered by an X1 and it's pretty pricey, but definitely right now, the shield tablet is one if the best tablets you can buy, especially considering its now greatly reduced price tag
Google's pixel line (pixel c, pixel chromebook) is testament to their ability to make beautiful hardware. The nexus line is fine, scouting other oems for each next iteration is good for business relationships but Google obviously can make something more amazing. I want a pixel phone running stock.
They don't research at all. In the P9 software video a while back they said EMUI doesn't have a theme store, and they say that in every Huawei phone review, but is false. They NEVER research before speaking.
Wow... You said pretty much nothing about the tablets beyond the third one, what a about the controller in the K1? The dualshock 3 and 4 compatibility in the Sony z4 tablet and the water resistant? What about the specs from the other tablets?
you can use dual shock 3 and 4 with just about any android tablet ,I use a. dual shock 3 with my kindle fire 7 5th gen it has root and a custom ROM on lollipop I use sixaxis app to pair it with Bluetooth but I think pairing ps4 controllers is even easier than pairing a dualshock 3 I don't think it even requires root or sixaxis
+Andrea Mitchell yeah you can, but is not an official support, the software in the Sony rom includes Battery level and pairing options for both controllers
i forget if i needed to root now to use sixaxis i think i did i think i remember it asks for super Su permissions but i am pretty sure you do not need root for using ps4 controller just ps3
Its clear tablets have hit a wall as just media consumption devices. There's really not many differences between tablets released now vs say 2 years ago. My Note 10.1 had an Octa-core processor, 3 GB RAM, and a 1440p screen almost 3 years ago. Sure there's some improvements but its easy to see why the market for tablets has slowed down. Plus it seems Android manufacturers have basically forfeited the high end tablet war to Apple and just focus on the low-mid range market now.
I love my Sony Z4 tablet! You should have mentioned that a PS4 controller can be synced with the device via bluetooth to enable, not only streaming of PS4 games to the tablet, but that it can be used to play games that have controller support! No more clumsy touch controls for Dead Trigger 2! The front face speakers are excellent too!
I think Nvidia sells a universal travel one for $30 but it is unnecessary for most. A decent 10 watt 2 amp charger does the trick. I was able to find an old charger that belonged to an old dell tablet I once had and it works just fine. Don't try to use a cell phone charger because it won't charge at all. I recommend at the very minimum 10 watts
Already have a Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Pro. I got mine from Amazon when they first came out last year. Added in a 128GB fast memory card and I'm very happy with it. Still running Android 5.1 though, but it's okay. Projector works well and the 4 JBL speakers are very good. Battery life is very impressive too.
Just picked up my Nexus 7 2013 last week! Rooted it and installed Pure Nexus right away... it's still awesome especially for the $150 I paid for it! I'll likely get the new Nexus tablet if the specs are good😎
The Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet was upgraded to Marshmallow quite some time ago. Also didn't mention that it's waterproof, while it's not as important as water proofing in a phone because you generally don't use it outdoors in the rain I personally love the ability to use PS4 remote play in the bath when I'm relaxing without worrying about it getting wet.
I cannot even believe some of those tablets made the list. Tablets are slowing to a halt, but android tablets are slowing even faster. Especially the nexus line up.
I personally like the Samsung S2 Tab 8.0 because I'm currently using an iPad mini 1st gen as my tablet and I'm switching to android by first preordained the Galaxy Note 7. I held one at Costco and it is definitely the way to go in order to keep the same form factor as my iPad mini and get a major upgrade while switching to android at the same time. Might get it in a few months maybe sooner if I decide I want to completely switch to android.
My first android device was a samsung galaxy tab 3, I used it for two years and I still like it , I've done almost everything a person can do with a device , I rooted it , hacked games , gaming was awesome , it'll be the best device I used
Budget---I got the RCA viking pro 2 in 1 for 90 dollars. Of course I would love a more expensive tablet but this tablet works just fine for me and I have loved using it for 6 months.
was a good android tablet with a stylus? I want to take notes for school on a tablet but the note pro is a bit dated and the Samsung tablet that's newer that does have one (I forget the name) isn't very good.
I'm using my SS galaxy tab s2 9.7 inch and really love it. My wife has an iPad Air but whenever we watching movie we always use the Tab S2 because the screen is amazing.
nice rundown. I'm a filmmaker, and I"m looking for an android tablet that can run Filmic Pro, which is a camera app popularized on the iPHone but ported to droid. is it possible if you can do a review on Android tablet/ PC. what I mean is using tablets that's powered by android but you can use a keyboard to do work with it like the Lenovo iBook.
Good video, but I think you're mistaken with regards to Xperia z4 Tablet - my model (32Gb LTE variant) runs Android 6.0.1, which I guess is a Marshmellow and not a Lollipop? Maybe this depends on territory (I'm in Poland)?
So glad one of the "big guns" has declared what is so obvious....that the Pixel C is now the Android tablet to beat. Listen, I had a Galaxy Tab S2 and really enjoyed it. I enjoyed the Amazon Fire HDX and the Nexus 7. So I debated about getting the Pixel C but then finally decided I would probably "kind of" like it. I was not prepared, however, to be floored by it. It quickly became my favorite tech device. And I say that as someone who loves my S7 Edge and my Surface Pro 4.
Sony Xperia Z2 tablet is dirt cheap now. I bought mine for 124 bucks.. Snapdragon 801,3gb of ram,32gb on board storage, and a beautiful 1980x1200 screen. Plus it's completely waterproof ^^
Still rocking my galaxy tab pro 8.4 running Cm13. Not gonna buy a new one anytime soon, besides, tablets are getting less relevant these days. I'm happy enough with what I got.
I am using a samsung tab s2 9.7 because I thought that it was supposed to be the best android tablet at the moment. Is there a better all round tablet than the tab s2?
just direct soldered a USB cable to the charging port in my tegra note 7, my favorite right now have my fingers crossed for an Nvidia x1tablet coming soon
Definitely the Shield. better performance, better screen, better speakers. The Tab A does have some nice software features though, especially if you get it with the S-Pen.
HOW can you reccomemd the Nexus 9? I have one, and though it has the odd moment where it runs android fine, its almost always freezing and lagging in simple tasks....
Still using a Nexus 7 2013, bit outdated, but can run games pretty good with little to no lag. you can still get these for 100$ to 150& used. can't wait for the new Nexus 7
I'm using the note pro12.2 and after lollipop update the tablet performance really improved. I hope it will receive android M or N, it would not make sense a $750 + taxes tablet to becoming obsolete in 2 years.
I was lucky enough to get my hands on a LG G Pad 8.3. With cyanogenmod 13 it still runs like a dream. If I were to go for one of these it would be the shield. probably won't be for a long time though.
just wish samsung would roll out another 10.1 with great specs. Im still hanging onto my 2013 galaxy note bec none of the other tablets seem tempting except for more data storage. And alot the new tablets (even high end ones)dont have mobile coverage. Bummer.
Did I somehow pass out during the Nexus 7? There's no way that can't be on this list, I've heard people saying it's better than the Nexus 9 because of performance issues
no love for mipad - i have one. great piece of HW but the SW sucks. stuck on Android 4.4, Source Code not public (GPL violation anyone?). now with introduction of Mipad 2 probably totally abandoned. Mipad 2 in comparison is a joke. better build quality, but no more storage expansion, intel atom cpu that is about half as powerful as the nvidia in the Mipad 1, still only 2GB RAM. Xiaomi phones are great, their tablets are not.
didn't include the sony z3 tablet compact? i think its the one that does almost everything you want in a tablet, well almost because the camera on the back is only 8 megapixel and no flash, if it had 20+ megapixel with flash then it could have been perfect, oh and if it also has a larger built in storage but that's fixable with the sd card slot. well one could dream dream of a sony xperia s tablet compact with all the features needed included ^_^
i never understood why people always say "up to 128GB" every tablet on that list that has a micro sd card slot will support 200GB cards as well. im pretty sure any and every andriod tablet that was made within the last 4 years would. and if they didnt all you have to do is re format the cards on a laptop or desktop.
+Rekudoo I know that Nvidia always releases something new in July. and I think they create something new every 2 years. so I think this year nvidia shield x1 will come out.
Asus Memo Pad 7 ME572 with the intel chip. Probably the cheapest tablet(around $130) with a 1200p screen resolution. Asus ZenUI is probably the smoothest running launcher ever. I like the launcher so much I cracked it over to my Note 4 and use it everyday.
Nothing still beats samsung note 10.1 (2014 edition)
Watching on it now.. Still works like a beast
Have to agree. Mine is still going strong
I agree. Plus It doesn't hurt some of these newer tablets don't offer any major innovations/improvements over the Note 10.1 even though that tablet is close to 3 years old. Also it's still arguably the highest end tablet Samsung has made.
+moe A Specs are still pretty good. But an update wouldn't go amiss, about time too.
I have one but its the 2012 version (the first one made) and it still runs great
moe A The software is somewhat outdated now. It's on Lollipop now but who knows if it'll ever get updated to Marshmallow and the graphics processor isn't up to task for playing the most demanding games smoothly anymore but if you can get a good deal on one its a good tablet still especially for watching movies and stuff as it has a great screen.
I have the Sony Xperia Z2 tablet, best I've ever had by far.
Sony are super underrated.
agreed
Dude I feel like im the only one who knows lok
Everyone's like "apple, Samsung..."
+Matan Revivo Ikr! Everybody likes apple and when you're talking about android, all they know is Samsung. Sony devices are awesome
Agree...I Have Z4 Tablet LTE & Z2 Tablet Wifi...I Felt That Z4 Battery Life Isnt as great as Z2...theyre both running on MM Though
I have the z3 tablet compact, running strong till now, awesome little tablet for gaming
I'll tell you guys one thing. As a diehard android fan, I never thought I'll buy an iPad. iOS was designed to not lag. that's why it sucks. I had a good experience with the air 2 but it's still not as enjoyable as my pixel c.
Eric Thomas what? Lol

***** lol
I wish you wrote the Specs on the screen while calling it out. Would've been more informative :)
Nvidia Shield Tablet k1 is fine 💪😎
u have it?
yes mate!
I've got one myself and couldn't agree more.
Is it still a good buy since there are reports that a new Nvidia tablet might launch this year
+Raphael Miguel it's quite likely an X1 powered nvidia tablet will release In the near future but I don't know about pricing, obviously the shield home console box is powered by the X1 and it's pretty cheap but the google pixel C tablet is also powered by an X1 and it's pretty pricey, but definitely right now, the shield tablet is one if the best tablets you can buy, especially considering its now greatly reduced price tag
It's finally friday here, gonna binge watch Android Authority all weekend!
Google's pixel line (pixel c, pixel chromebook) is testament to their ability to make beautiful hardware. The nexus line is fine, scouting other oems for each next iteration is good for business relationships but Google obviously can make something more amazing. I want a pixel phone running stock.
I'm running the Asus ZenPad 8S and its great. Its been beyond durable, not laggy, and for about $200 freedom bucks it's a damn steal.
My friend's Xperia Z4 tablet is running 6.0.1, not 5.0.1. It's available already unlike you're claiming in your video.
They don't research at all. In the P9 software video a while back they said EMUI doesn't have a theme store, and they say that in every Huawei phone review, but is false. They NEVER research before speaking.
yup, my xperia z4 tablet have been running 6.0.1 for months already
in fact, all 2014&2015 xperias were updated to marshmallow months ago.. They should do some research, at least.
Been there quite a while now too. Got it on my Z3TC about 3 months ago.
Wow... You said pretty much nothing about the tablets beyond the third one, what a about the controller in the K1? The dualshock 3 and 4 compatibility in the Sony z4 tablet and the water resistant? What about the specs from the other tablets?
there just listing off I guess no extra

Still great with my nexus 7 2013. Oh yeah. Still works great ...M has given it great life.

+moshe tzvi stone Note 10.1 2014
+moshe tzvi stone They called it 2014 edition but it came out in October of 2013. So it's more like 2.5 years ago. Was rounding up lol.
16:9 tablets are primarily media consumption devices. 4:3 can do more just than media consumption.
Syed Tariq Asghar media on a 4:3 is really awkward however unless you like the feel of somewhat a box TV fesl
+Jimmy Peña Yes it's not ideal for viewing videos and gaming.
Hello...Planing to buy my Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Pro in Munich (Saturn store) ..By the way, what the song name at 5:39 ....vey nice song

Shield K1 for the win! Got it, love it, won't ever look else where for a tablet
How much is its charger?
I think Nvidia sells a universal travel one for $30 but it is unnecessary for most. A decent 10 watt 2 amp charger does the trick. shield is trash i returned mine,so many issue with it
+young mouss that's crazy man. i haven't had one issue at all with mine
+Swing4gr8nessN8 Can you tell me what is its name? and how much it cost
Been rocking my shield tablet 2015 and it still out performs any tablet this year. Nvidia is my go to company when it comes to performance on tablets.
Already have a Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Pro. I got mine from Amazon when they first came out last year. Added in a 128GB fast memory card and I'm very happy with it. The Acer Predator tablet is not too bad, I've got the review coming out next week.
would love to see some Ara news, expectations, predictions, etc. it's just so interesting and I can't wait to hear more news on it!
What's the SONG playing at 1:01 ???
nice advert for all the big brands and their latest tablets... great Advertising. Think you got almost all the big names in there ;)
I cannot even believe some of those tablets made the list. Tablets are slowing to a halt, but android tablets are slowing even faster. Especially the nexus line up.

Hey just an FYI the new Tab S3 is coming Sept 2, so maybe wait
Ekam Brar Yeah I noticed. Definitely waiting for it.
Legend says he's still waiting
go for lenovo cheap and satisfactory
My first android device was a samsung galaxy tab 3, I used it for two years and I still like it , I've done almost everything a person can do with a device , I rooted it , hacked games , gaming was awesome , it'll be the best device I used
I just bought the nvidia Shelid tablet yesterday. Hope I'm impressed with the tablet.
Thank you for this tablet info! The only thing I would suggest is maybe put the specs. on the screen while taking about each tablet.
thanks for saying prices in the video. alot of people omit it for some odd reason
Because America isn't the centre of the universe, prices vary from store to store and country to country, and tax varies from county to county.
+smithydll united states is the center for trade.
They have a good list of phones that the app supports, but not tablets. They tell me that eh tablet has to be able to run the Camera2 API.
I have an ASUS Transformer type tablet, and I love the rigid keyboard and how well the pieces integrate. The full size USB is also important for me as a filmmaker. Any models out there that will run Filmic plus have full size USB?
I was hoping that my dream tablet would be the Lenovo Tbe 3 Pro, but it doesn't have full size USB or HDMI out. Plus you showed some performace lag which mighr be bad wen I"m doing some light editing.
Any thoughts? Thanks
!
I like the pricing on the RCA Maven Pro tablets and they now have the better detachable keyboards
And what to buy if I prefer 7" 16:9? Is there one with a rubberized back and highly dense AMOLED display?
I want a Samsung Tablet with the same design/material/specs as the Galaxy s7/edge. xD
I'd be scared to hold it
+WaffleV4 no they fragile
+manuel ramirez ive dropped my s7 edge face down on the concrete getting out of the car more than once, the screen doesnt even have a scratch
The hell with you people! no more Android tablets then! xD
+6644pmr you lucky, I dropped my s7 edge once & half the screen got fucked, thankfully I got insurance
it's been a while, any updates for 2017?
hey do you have any idea if the Tab S2 will get an update to marshmallow anytime this year?
is it possible if you can do a review on Android tablet/ PC. what I mean is using tablets that's powered by android but you can use a keyboard to do work with it like the Lenovo iBook.
Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet has Marshmallow. Has had it for a while now.
Why ash doesn't make any review video anymore? I missed his style
Quick, tell me: my bday is tomorow, what should I buy: canon 80d, Sony AX53 or Sony a6300? No need to say "it depends" just tell me!
Sony a6300.
Listen, I had a Galaxy Tab S2 and really enjoyed it. are there any good android tablets with front facing speakers?
Wasn't the Nexus 9 discontinued? As in.. it's not a tablet you can actually buy?
Sony Xperia Z2 tablet is dirt cheap now. I bought mine for 124 bucks.. Snapdragon 801,3gb of ram,32gb on board storage, and a beautiful 1980x1200 screen. Plus it's completely waterproof ^^
Still rocking my galaxy tab pro 8.4 running Cm13. Not gonna buy a new one anytime soon, besides, tablets are getting less relevant these days. I'm happy enough with what I got.
Is the Yoga tab 3, 8 inch without the projector - 1gb ram.. a good option?
I was searching for a tablet to draw, wish one should I get? since I can't afford a iPad pro or anything this price
I didn't buy it yet, but I'll just get a normal Wacom tablet and use it with my notebook
I have the z4 tablet and absolutely love it, best android tablet in my opinion. my z4 was updated to marshmallow a while ago....
You guys should review the Vernee Thor!
I am using a samsung tab s2 9.7 because I thought that it was supposed to be the best android tablet at the moment. Is there a better all round tablet than the tab s2?
Luke Lelievre yes iPad mini 4 but Tab S2 still wins because Android is highly customizable
I have been using an xperia z2 tablet for over a year. amazing product. According to me the best tablet as of now should be the z4.
Nexus 9 wasn't discontinued?
What was that strange video on Nexus 9?
just direct soldered a USB cable to the charging port in my tegra note 7, my favorite right now have my fingers crossed for an Nvidia x1tablet coming soon
What was that music video playing on nexus 9
I have an iPad mini 2 currently but I am looking to get an android tablet and I can't decide between the shield k1 and the Samsung galaxy tab a 8.0
Definitely the Shield. better performance, better screen, better speakers. The Tab A does have some nice software features though, especially if you get it with the S-Pen.
This is a awesome video i love it i her it comes with android 6.0 now also will it play MMORPG well keep up the videos also i love ur i intro
Still rocking the lg g pad 8.3, it's a beast
im crying of 2016 nostalgia
HOW can you reccomemd the Nexus 9? I have one, and though it has the odd moment where it runs android fine, its almost always freezing and lagging in simple tasks....
Still using a Nexus 7 2013, bit outdated, but can run games pretty good with little to no lag. you can still get these for 100$ to 150& used. can't wait for the new Nexus 7
I'm using the note pro12.2 and after lollipop update the tablet performance really improved. I hope it will receive android M or N, it would not make sense a $750 + taxes tablet to becoming obsolete in 2 years.
the pixel c and the dell because of their material and build quality also cause the sharpness of their displays
can you view the best 7inch tablet? thanks.....
already have official Marshmallow on Xperia Z4 long time ago!
What's a good tablet for artists? currently have a Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 with Wacom Bamboo stylus
my favorite is lenovo 10.1" i had that tablet before and i am happy with it and i don't want any other tablet
I was lucky enough to get my hands on a LG G Pad 8.3. With cyanogenmod 13 it still runs like a dream. If I were to go for one of these it would be the shield. probably won't be for a long time though.
I would have added the Hannspree Titan V2 which is a 13.3" tablet for a very good price.
i got galaxy tab 3,its a beast! i trist su sumsung and it seems im going to buy tab A or S2
Tab a has good battery life 7300 mah, while the S2 is over 5000 mah
Tab a is slower than S2, so I would have the s2 instead
Umm... How come don't you have Marshmallow on Z4 Tablet? I've had it for months already on mine.
just wish samsung would roll out another 10.1 with great specs. Im still hanging onto my 2013 galaxy note bec none of the other tablets seem tempting except for more data storage. And alot the new tablets (even high end ones)dont have mobile coverage. Bummer.
What's the best 4G LTE unlimited tablet for cheap and where do I go to get / keep service?
Sorry but isn't huawei m2 suppose to be making up in the list ?
Did I somehow pass out during the Nexus 7? There's no way that can't be on this list, I've heard people saying it's better than the Nexus 9 because of performance issues
where is the mipad??😞
Poor mipad. It seems like the more premium option while also being the cheaper option.
no love for mipad - i have one. great piece of HW but the SW sucks. stuck on Android 4.4, Source Code not public (GPL violation anyone?). now with introduction of Mipad 2 probably totally abandoned.
Mipad 2 in comparison is a joke. better build quality, but no more storage expansion, intel atom cpu that is about half as powerful as the nvidia in the Mipad 1, still only 2GB RAM. Xiaomi phones are great, their tablets are not.
You guys think you could do a Best Android Tablets for Art list?
If you are an artist just get a surface pro 4 instead. With full access to Adobe CC and other world class applications and a great stylus.
I've been doing this search also, but the prices are restrictive. :(
what was the game being played on the dell tablet?
No mention for the Lenovo Tab 2 A10? Great Screen, Okay Processor, Good Battery Life and its really cheap!
But the google pixel c has a nvidia Tegra X1 processor, which is 2x faster than the Tegra K1
didn't include the sony z3 tablet compact? i think its the one that does almost everything you want in a tablet, well almost because the camera on the back is only 8 megapixel and no flash, if it had 20+ megapixel with flash then it could have been perfect, oh and if it also has a larger built in storage but that's fixable with the sd card slot. well one could dream dream of a sony xperia s tablet compact with all the features needed included ^_^
how come no one mentions the Lenovo Yoga?
i never understood why people always say "up to 128GB" every tablet on that list that has a micro sd card slot will support 200GB cards as well. im pretty sure any and every andriod tablet that was made within the last 4 years would. and if they didnt all you have to do is re format the cards on a laptop or desktop.
Android tablets are still being made?
i think Chuwi HiBook Pro is better then sony m3 or ipad.... plz tell about Chuwi HiBook Pro
can you please do a review on micromax canvas laptab 2 lt777? pls pls pls
What is the name of song playing on nexus 9

can't wait to get my shield k1 next week!!
you should wait longer, in this July Nvidia might release a new shield tablet, if they don't, get the k1.
The k1 is amazing but the battery is shit
@XxYoshixX100, du you mean the X1? Do you know something about the release?
+Rekudoo I know that Nvidia always releases something new in July. and I think they create something new every 2 years. so I think this year nvidia shield x1 will come out.
+MachoTaco on my shield i get around 8 hours out of mine k1
Is it true there are dual OS boot(android and windows) on tablets?
Marshmallow is already out for the Z4 tablet :)
What are good tablet specs, Intel Core m5? 4 RAM?
Can the Pixel C run Shield exclusive apps?:/
Well the very last tablet you mentioned by Lenovo you didn't say the price , all you said was it is a tad Expensive.
So like What is the price???
