Poor gas gets sold to us too, here in PA. Also, there`s the ethanol in our gas supply, instead of eating the corn we grow, we`re burning it. Wow, eh, that`s a whole crapload of gas and water you gotta burn off. I would come over if I could and help you watch it burn, if you could supply the Moosehead, lol.
actually i still see alot of those on the road here in North Carolina and...as well as Plymouth Horizon/Dodge Omni. I had a 1986 Dodge 600 ES turbo for 2 years about 7-8 years ago, which was a LOADED Aries with a turbo 2.2. yeah the K had alot of quality issues with interior stuff wearing out but if you took care of them...the bodies really didnt rust out too bad and the 2.2 would last a long time
If you mean stuff built after the mid 80's, yea I'd agree. That's the beginning of the throw away car era.Later still, pretty much all cars and trucks all over the world are this way. It's so complicated you don't work on them with wrenches anymore. They do it under the guise of efficiency, but do they need all that nonsense?Anyhow, if you look at US stuff from the 70's and back they had solid cars that were built to last and to be fixed.Today you buy a car and you junk it when something breaks.
What experience have you personally had with every single american car that would give you cause to label them all junk? They sell enough of them and there are others available so I think your statement might be a generalization.I love my Volkswagens, but not newer ones.Especially the fake beetle. That thing is just a Golf under the skin.

May have someone putting water in the fuel tank , if it happens again you will know to put a locking fuel cap on it .
I actually found a club devoted to them...
Don't put ethanol in your older cars, it will eat all the rubber seals and lines bro.
