    What Brian did is obviously truly horrible, but there is a part of me that enjoys that Denise underestimated him. I think she is so self-absorbed that it never occurred to her that if she threw Brian away and took away basically his sole reason for committing the crime that a combination of his desire to get even with her and also to purge his guilt over a crime that had been eating him alive would be more powerful than his desire for life, freedom, or avoiding public shame.

    • @hollybigelow5337
      @hollybigelow5337 24 дня назад

      @@rediettadesse2828 Well, Hitler also didn’t actually physically kill most of the people who were killed in the concentration camps. I personally believe there are things we can learn from the Milgram Experiments and what we know about Stockholm Syndrome, etc. In my world view, the person who actually pulls the trigger isn’t always the most evil or the most responsible. But if that’s your world view I can respect it and see some argument for it.
      Also, to be absolutely clear, I believe that Brian is a truly evil person who was willing to have an affair with his best friend’s wife and also to kill his best friend in cold blood. He doesn’t get off Scot-free in my mind at all. Denise certainly didn’t have enough control over him that she could have forced him to do either of those things if his commitment to his friend and his morals had been absolute. He will serve some years in prison for that, and I believe he will also face God for what he has done. I also believe he will face Mike in the next life and will have to explain himself. I have a feeling that for him the moment of facing Mike will be the biggest part of hell for him. He is not okay. As I said originally, what Brian did is obviously truly horrible.
      However, looking at the psychology in play, I solidly believe that even though she wasn’t the one to actually pull the trigger, Denise is even MORE responsible. I don’t think she refused to pull the trigger because she cared about Mike and wanted him to live. I personally suspect based on the evidence presented that she didn’t want to do it because she didn’t want to risk being caught. When Mike was dead, I get the feeling Brian was racked with guilt (which doesn’t excuse it or change the fact that he did it and would do it again in the immediate aftermath). From Denise, I get the impression she was relieved that a minor inconvenience had finally been dealt with. In other words, to her it was kind of like Mike finally got around to swatting that annoying mosquito that had been flying around her kitchen fur the last few days. Denise comes off as having zero empathy for anyone and zero problem using people as disposable tools to make her life as convenient and comfortable as possible. There are many people who live like that. To me, in this case I believe her fatal flaw that got her caught was she assumed her accomplice was as disconnected and self-serving as she was. It never once occurred to her that her accomplice was actually racked with guilt and was only ignoring it because his desire to be with her was stronger than his desire to confess and that as soon as she took the relationship away he would completely unravel and need to do as much of the right thing as it was still in his power to do.
      Once again, that doesn’t get Brian off the hook. The fact that his desire to be with Denise was so strong that it could overpower his love for his best friend to the point he would kill him really tells me all I ever need to know about his morality, and it is not a good conclusion. But I do find it beautiful that Denise made such a strategic error in her plans. And I do personally still believe Denise is magnitudes greater in her level of evil. Why pull the trigger when you can easily manipulate someone else to do it for you? If that is the only reason a person didn’t pull the trigger, they get zero points for not being the one to actually do it.

This man's tears are all for himself, the enormity of what he's admitting to and how cruel and sadistic he was to his best friend. The ultimate betrayal by the two people he loved and trusted above all else. And all for selfishness and greed. Heartless, callous individuals. I hope this haunts every waking moment and they have nightmares for the rest of their lives. I really feel for Cathy as well, lying next to him after what he'd also done to her. Evil beyond belief 😔

All of it 100% untrue but because she’s been a master manipulator and drug addict thief the past 10 year’s, she’s learned how to use situations to her advantage. Now I have to defend myself from something I didn’t even do. That's what everyone wants to say, but its too simplistic. We just don't want to admit that the truth is Brian was Mike's very good friend for many years and it is also true, once the relationship with Denise began, he became something else. Both are true.
      I think that's what makes this case so compelling for so many- we don't want to think that a good friend of ours could do such a thing. We have to tell ourselves that Brian was never MIke's good friend. The truth is, he was and then he wasn't.

      Exactly. He had just gone through this hard time in life and was in need of some positivity in life, finally getting in good spirits about rekindling his romance with his wife, getting ready to spend Christmas with his new baby girl, and on the way to have a good day out with his “brother”... and for him to find out, right before death, that this person he probably would have given his life for, is about to take his life from him. I’m sure that pain was far worse than any physical pain inflicted by that bullet... my dad has been telling me every time we speak since I was a little girl, “Trust no one 100%, babygirl. No man, chick or child.” I didn’t understand it then and I used to think he was being dramatic, but the older I get, the more those words resonate w me. Such a sad but true reality. Trust no one 100%. ESPECIALLY the ones closest to you. RIP Mike. I hope that whatever’s on the other side is far better than what this world has become.

      @@ThousandairesClub well if it was me I would rest knowing what happened to my loved one instead of wondering, I know better than to trust anyone so the greed and betrayal doesn't surprise me at all.

    What a very evil person. Who needs friends like that in their lives? Sounds like a real demon. Poor Mike.

    "He was thinking I was in a hurry to search for Mike but I was in a hurry to go bury Mike"😔 That part just made me think of how many murderers we live amongst.

      londeka duma even potential murderers. There are many sociopaths in the world. I’ve heard as many as 1 in 25 people are sociopaths which means all of us know at least one. Crazy to think about.

    This is the biggest act of betrayal I have seen so far. Please remember that these guys were best friends for their entire lives.

    Wow when he said he ran into Mike Phillips at the store and said that later on Mike said yea I saw you that morning and you were in a panic and rushing.. and then said he thought I was in a hurry and a panick to go help search for Mike but actually I was just in a hurry and a panick to go bury Mike. Just wow. How sad. I couldn't be any happier at the fact that he will have to live with this for the rest of his life and will have flash backs every time he closes his eyes to rest of what he did. 20 years is B.S for what he did to this man but living with it for the rest of his life makes a little better.

    The crazy part is that there’s soo many men that lost their lives because of women and friends like this. It’s soo many women and men in this world. I could never understand why.
