How is having the character not tied to a perk that complicated to understand? Why change a core Killing Floor mechanic? Hopefully its not too late to make the right decision.
They gave us them already in KF2 and it was abused to the ground by drone stacking, rpg stacking (on bosses), medic buffs stacking, etc. This is directed improvement in sense of balance
I understand wanting to change things up to make KF’s formula more interesting but just straight up limiting gameplay by locking characters to perks isn’t adding anything new it’s just making the player have less freedom. A big part of what makes KF so great is the amount of customization and play-style changes you can implement and experiment around with.
All these changes from the previous titles are great. BUT I DON'T LIKE THE HERO SHOOTER BS, I WANT TO USE ANY CHARACTER WITH ANY PERK, IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK?
The "specialists" are still perks locked to specific characters, with ults locked to specific perks. And when you get into a match, the game will lock you out of choosing a class if someone is already playing it.

I had tons of fun with the game, but this always was my problem with it.
Don’t lock characters to classes. I do not agree with this. Listen to the fans. I loved playing KF and KF2 as whatever character I wanted, with whatever class and customize that character. What we really need is more ways to customize our weapons. Put red dots, bigger mag, more damage, etc Then make class re up worth it. I think the weapon design was a bad idea on this one. I know there were some sci-fi guns in the other games, but people were really drawn to the massive amount of real fire arms that the game had. If you are going to have an assault rifle in the game you mise as well make it an Iconic real life one people like instead of some lame generic sci-fi assault rifle.
Yeah, part of the appeal of KF2 for me was using historic, modern, and sci-fi weapons all in the same setting. They just cut the first 2 out and went with the ladder.
Excited to play the game, but really hope you guys reconsider this whole hero shooter thing. The killing floor games were already gold! A solid platform! All you guys need for a third title is some new features, not to re-invent the wheel. Just bring back the perk system you've always had, and that will be fine!

Tripwire, if I were you, I'd listen to the class / perk issue that people are talking about. You can ignore the community all you want to and release the game your way, but you need to understand how social media works. If ONE video on RUclips from an influencer or a person who loved the past games says that perks are tied to characters, you will see a lack of sales numbers and you'll have to change it if you want people to buy the game. Listen to your community on this issue...especially since EVERYONE is saying the same thing. Give us the freedom that you are saying you want us to have.
Kinda don't care about specialists-characters debate, but more concerned about gunplay. KF always was skill-based PvE FPS. Hope it stays that way. This gun mods mechanic looks very promising.
I would rather be able to choose what perk I play like I am able to do in KF1 and KF2. This whole specialist system in my opinion is absolute trash. something the devs forgot in kf2 is that killing floor was always about SURVIVING, about feeling trapped with no escape in a huge and uncertain place, about feeling cornered, about hearing the beasts coming closer and closer: knowing that a single mistake will kill not only you but your team as well, all of them were necessary because ammo, grenades and armor were scarce and each one was specialized in eliminating a certain zed, if a comrade died everything became more desperate, every bullet you missed increased the probability of a fatal hit. I remember playing on the farm in kf1, no matter how much you ran, the zeds were much faster than you, I remember it was crazy trying to resist in the fields because the husks didn't miss a single shot even if you were running but in kf2 it's almost impossible for them to hit you if you move (i like the idea of them flying and I hope they have good aim), but you know what's scarier? the fact that the zeds avoided grenades, the fact that the kf1 zeds preferred to surround you instead of just chasing you stupidly like in kf2, the fact that they preferred to immobilize you instead of just hitting you, it was as if they knew that something bigger was coming to crush you and their only mission was to hold you back as long as necessary, the kf1 zeds didn't look intelligent but they were, somehow it seemed like they had a hive mind, that was terrifying, and the worst thing is that if you survive an attack you can see how the zeds eat the corpses of your comrades... and the environment... damn the environment... forgotten, worn, smoking, the corpses... gave you an idea of what would happen to you if you decided to run out of bullets: the environment was at the same time sad and terrifying, there are only rubble from the city where you lived (this was a story that told itself and through the characters), on the farm... what happened in the houses on the farm..., man that was really terrifying, and no, I'm not saying it because of the blood or the gore, but because of the fact that It gave you an idea of what you were facing, what was chasing you. KF1 gave you the feeling that you and a few other crazy b*st@rds were fighting for their lives until the bitter end, an end that was felt at all times but that moved a few centimeters away with each bullet you fired: until someone said "what's he got in his arms?" you pressed buttons and said "behind you idiot" in his desperation your friend just shot and the flespound enraged put him to sleep with a single slap... and now you're next. I don't forget the sirens, the empty eyes and their voices that break your eardrums and the screen shaking, yes, that's how it must feel if a siren screams like that from so close. KF1 wasn't about getting more kills than others or looking like clowns until KF2 came along, remember Resident Evil 6? Remember how it wasn't a real Resident Evil? But then RE7 came along and everyone loved RE again. KF1 was bloody, but it was never only about that, it was about showing you how horrible a war can be... against monsters. How nostalgic I felt when Foster from KF2 said "Don't worry guys, I'll finish what we started then." "Fosty last stand, is it?" Gives me hope to see that KF3 looks terrifying. Don't focus on filling everything with blood, it's not necessary, focus on that fear that forces people to work together to survive... even if they hate each other. "I occasionally think how quickly Our differences worldwide would vanish If we were facing a threat From outside this world"
I don't think you guys understand this but I've always enjoyed choosing certain characters and it was never because of something outside of cosmetic. Now I feel more discouraged to use my favorites because a different character will probably have a specialist that's more meta. Make it like Cold War Zombies where you can choose your specialist weapon yourself and it's not tied to the character only.
I hope the Hell on Earth is actually a challenge in KF3. KF2's HOE was fun but a lot more easy compared to KF1's HOE. I was mad when you nerfed the new Abandon all Hope difficulty. The craziness from the enraged Zeds and Scrakes and FPs that raged from the beginning was so fun.
So perks are tied to characters? bruh why, I like everything else I'm seeing but the perks being tied is not what I wanna see in the end product. I like changing my character sometimes but still wanna remain on that perk.
The most important thingy is that there will be LAN-Server support where you can put in your loved custom maps and play them with friends together on your private LANs.
Everything looks AMAZING! Only gripe... It was said that you wanted to give players more customizable freedom, but then you've locked all of the specialists classes behind specific characters? That seems like a LARGE step in the opposite direction from a longtime player of the other killing floors. Most of the customization was of your characters, and having fun with them as different classes. Locking specializations behind specific characters feels like the wrong move for me...
I noticed that while KF2's dismemberment got the job done, it was basic compared to the variety in something like L4D2's gore shader effects. I'm skeptical about how they'll monetize this game as a service, insisting upon futurism and specialist. I'm braced for another Payday 3 situation, but I'll keep an open mind because I think the technology and mechanics will be fun regardless
man besides the obvious changes that need to be done (specialists) i´m so excited to play this while blasting some death (band) on my headphones, good luck everyone
I am insanely happy to hear that we are now able to swap weapons regardless of the character we are playing as. That is a huge bonus to be sure, and I do not was to discredit where credit is due. I just wish we could select any character and perk that we want, because it sort of feels like a pointless decision to have these locked hero characters now. They talked about how they are excited to have people spend thousands of hours on the game, and see how people customize their loadouts.. then why not add even more customization by having custom characters and the old perk system? I still think the proper compromise is to bring back characters/perks, but implement the ultimate abilities into the perks. That right there, is the key to the community's heart right now.
"Characters are interacting with each other to offer those light hearted moments" Sounds good but dont forget to add "remove chatter" option like in kf2 Update: remove chatter is confirmed. Nice work
Killing 3 news, eh? Wonder when they'll listen to the community uproar on specialist controversy. On a real note, everything Killing Floor 3 is working on sounds amazing. EXCEPT SPECIALISTS!

Because they want to make it a hero shooter. BF2042 followed exactly the same track for this same reason.
Mr Krabbs: "Money!"
The reason is the same as always. Money. They probably want to sell cosmetics and new animations/taunts/skins for characters to make more money. If bad decision is made, you can almost always be sure it was about money.

This looks, BEAUTIFUL i cant wait
something the devs forgot in kf2 is that killing floor was always about SURVIVING, about feeling trapped with no escape in a huge and uncertain place, about feeling cornered, about hearing the beasts coming closer and closer: knowing that a single mistake will kill not only you but your team as well, all of them were necessary because ammo, grenades and armor were scarce and each one was specialized in eliminating a certain zed, if a comrade died everything became more desperate, every bullet you missed increased the probability of a fatal hit.
How nostalgic I felt when Foster from KF2 said "Don't worry guys, I'll finish what we started then." "Fosty last stand, is it?"
Gives me hope to see that KF3 looks terrifying. Don't focus on filling everything with blood, it's not necessary, focus on that fear that forces people to work together to survive... even if they hate each other. "I occasionally think how quickly Our differences worldwide would vanish If we were facing a threat From outside this world"
That's KF1 you were describing in the beginning. KF2 is just sprint away and drone spam and cheese classes. Terrible.

Please don’t make characters tied to classes. Each character should be able to adapt if the group needs it.
Wtf are yall smoking "specialists" this isn't Call of duty what makes killing floor unique its the class system
fr and the people who say otherwise have probably only played any other killing floor for like 2 hours
@DartStebz I have over 3000 hours invested in kf2 I know what I'm talking about 😅
@@dead4352COD doesn't have that no more troll, where you been?
"Characters are interacting with each other to offer those light hearted moments"
Sounds good but dont forget to add "remove chatter" option like in kf2
Update: remove chatter is confirmed. Nice work
If there's no Beserker character and weapons, I will be EXTREMELY upset.
No more specialists please keep the old kf2 perks and classes please
loving the music
"you can expect way more blood in KF3"
KHORNE APPROVES
BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD
@@Kerruo SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE
Holy shit it's looking good!
Killing 3 news, eh? Wonder when they'll listen to the community uproar on specialist controversy.
On a real note, everything Killing Floor 3 is working on sounds amazing. EXCEPT SPECIALISTS!
this allready looks like a massive improvement compared to the first gameplay reveal. Looking forward to see more dev updates
Please seperate the specialist from the character
please let us choose the character we want to play just like kf2 without worrying about perks
Anyone not liking the look of the weapons? Would of really preferred the modern weapons look of today instead of futuristic weaponry
I personally like them since they did their own take creating weapons that takes place in 2098, it makes more sense for weapons gotten more advanced in the killing floor world.
@@Zipperskull_ yeah that’s true just wish they didn’t go so far in the future
Its not just futuristic weapons, its like the pulse rifle from aliens, theyve just made modern guns more bulky. that isnt futuristic. its just dumb imo
Really exciting gameplay footage. Looks like "core mechanics" feedback was taken to heart. Really hoping these animations are part of the pre-alpha stage though cause man the zeds look stiff 0:46 to 0:53 specifically.
The most expected game in ten years.
But there's too much blood. It's hard to watch. Blood mirrors on the floor. And really, mutants aren't made of just blood, they're not blood bags. There are other elements: bones, muscles, metal parts, etc. This could be very adequately woven into the game.
Bro forgot about gta 6. Plus after how they gradually butchered kf2, and how one of the first things they announced for this game was a specialist system... I don't think there's that much hype tbh.
This looked better than the first trailer! Glad to see the progress!
I just want my classic perks back
There are still here. Are you blind?
@@Jackfromshack Not sure if you're trolling or just dumb.
@@Jackfromshack not in the same way we had in KF1 and 2. They're fixed on playing as certain characters
thank you so much! killing floor 1 and 2 are legit my child hood i played those years ago and poured hours into them and this looks amazing can't wait to get this one too and go back on a memory lane!
