I just started learning piano (at age 38), but this is the most important song ....
in case there's a fight breaks out in a pub, and u are next to the piano... this must be played:-)
Mikae7 no problem i start playing piano on 8 age but in 1 half mond i play every weak 1 hour so it it is not verry inportant as it looks like just focus on the song and play it again and again.
+Mikae7 i completely memorized this in like 2 weeks
+Gyror you should start learning about grammar and spelling too
Started at... well idk. There's been a keyboard in my basement since before I was born 14 years ago. But I started playing and now I know a crap ton of Steven Universe and Night in the Woods. With a little Undertale mixed in.
Jonn Ballehr lol nice!
When your friend plays Für Elise, then you play this...
😁
+Jack Robinson when your friend plays this and you play Rhapsody in G minor by Johannes Brahms
LAUNDRY DETERGENT whAt tHe fuCK
Joplin > Beethoven
Jack Robinson hahah nice
This is good to listen to when you read stupid comments.
aswq edfr No, it's good to listen to the Mario Bros. 2 Main Theme when reading something stupid like the comments.
aswq edfr ikr!
aswq edfr like this one
Jk 😜
1:38 and 2:16 probably my most favorite transitions.
It's called Synthesia. You can get the most updated version at their website for free. Have fun!
This was the first song that I’ve ever heard of him. He’s such a brilliant composer
Can play it up to 0:05 :D
SoaDark00 e
Same
SoaDark00
same
Right now I can play up to :12 :)
This video got me into piano 13 years ago back in high school. Now, after getting grade 8 and a music degree, I’m posting my own piano tutorials on RUclips. The internet is a wonderful place.
I have my deepest respects for this classic song for it is the absolute start of the entire music industry as we know it. All it took was one black man to step outside the box and Chang the way we look at music
Scooter Jopilino is truly one of the greats.
He is but 😂
Hate to admit this but...this song is better than The Entertainer.
Greatoz05 CP this is where u got it!
Okdavis does cp Yup
Greatoz05 CP coolio
+Greatoz05 CP and harder to play :p
Jaddi It iiiss!!!🙌🙌🙌😍😍😍 Well, in *my* opinion ..
Is it just me or does the tempo feel a bit off?
Yes too fast
Ken Morgan I'm thinking more like unstable, the tempo speeds up and slows down every few seconds throughout the piece
yeah it is. the programming of this song isn't 100% correct.
Yeah the space between the notes is always important and it's really off here
No...its jsut digital and not the rag time rhythme
wow.. my eyes get all wobbly if i watch this to long.
1:38 is my favorite part of this song.
That part is know as "trio". It's the most difficult part of the piece.
Han I disagree the 2nd part is way harder and I know the whole song
I’ve learned (about 80% of) it, it’s equally fun (and hand-cramping) to play
Depends on whether you include the grace notes ;)
Every time thath I listen something composed by Scott Joplin, I'm always surpirsed! Fantastic!
I have a friend in my choir class and one day before the bell rang he got up and played this in the piano and the entire class was so impressed and some of us ( including me ) got up and danced to it
I heard this playing at Disney when I visited last week, and I immediately recognized it.
The Mother of all Ragtime, Scott Joplin's 1899 first hit!
His biggest hit.
@@SQUAREHEADSAM1912 The Entertainer?
@@cdllc1956 no, the maple leaf rag. It sold over 10 million copies in his lifetime.
This song makes me think of old time ice cream parlors
it's been 7 years since i watched this video this is what got me to play piano
what got me playing piano was hungary rhapsody 2, i learned this first and not hungarian rhapsody lol, not disappointed though
After 1 month of learning this piece I am finally done! I have to try to increase my tempo and polish details but yeah. Love ragtime!
Always said i was going to learn it someday, now thanks to you i can make a fairly decent start! Cheers!
I don't know what it us, but I can watch these videos for hours... They're strangely addicting.. O.o
I learned this song 3 years ago, so I assure everyone it's very much possible to play. It's also frustrating to learn at times (especially when learning it at 15), but once you get it down, it's incredibly fun to play!
This is very useful for someone who almost has the song mastered. There's a few spots where I always mess up and it's nice to be able to visualize it, at least for me.
very cool, keep the video responses coming!
We think of 1902 as a really long time ago, so far to think. but one day being born or alive in 2002 will be the same to the next 4 or so generations as being born in 1902 is to us
Scott Joplin is my favorite
This is one of the most fun things to play ever! when i play it i can't help but picture silent movie pie in the face kinda stuff xD
0:17 my favorite part
Unipez Same!
What a wonderful song. I am trying to play this. .3.
thanks for the upload!
Thing that sucks about Synthesia is it mistakenly tells people how a song should be played. If you play MLR like this then you're playing it very, very wrong.
Sounds exactly like the original version dawg
Octavio12341000 no, dawg, it doesnt
+YakAttack I agree. A lot of the swung notes are very clunky
It's also too slow
+Deathnotefan97 It is, yeah. I was wondering what was wrong with it.
Very nice!!
1:13 best part imo
THIS IS AMAZING!!!!!!
i love the music
Sounds nice
More staccato, please.
It's the Mother of Ragtime, I believe.
Emphasis is on the "off" beat, thus it's called, "Ragtime."
Very wild for it's time, and young people flocked to dance "crazy" to it.
So, playing it is a piece of history!
Like? I LOVED it!!!!
R.I.P Scott Joplin
I just noticed, this is the music they use in Cooking Mama! ^_^
I liked it!
Hermosísimo rag
Piano Hero!
i love ragtime music, would love it more if i could come anywhere near playing it
AWSOME
cool vid.. thanks for posting!
Hello messaging again to reupload the newer version of this... that was a good untouched one
I'm learnin it. Soo hard !!!
I'm learning to play it! It's hard as hell, but I SOOOOO love playing it!
did you learn it?
Need an update 😁
WOW SCOTT JOPLIN
PIANO HERO!
THIS WAS LITERALLY THE COOKING MAMA TUNE
Nice Song :D
my music homework is to listen to thi. (well not this exact video but ragtime in general)
Piano hero. Level 1000.
Only true 1890's kids will remember this. Like if you remember.
um this some was writen in 1909
SO? They're teenagers/youngsters in 1909 then.
Giradox but one born in that time will not alive i'm pretty sure their all dead
King Punchwood
you're kidding me, right?
Nope
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emma_Morano
Born in 1899 and still alive. 116 years old.
Here we go, time to start my journey of learning this
Progress report?
I learned the 3 of 4 parts to this song, it's very fun to play, although i've gotten a little lazy learning the rest haha
Luke Yeah I've gotten a bit lazy at learning this as well because of the fact that I don't take piano lessons anymore. xD I did ask my mom if I could start taking them again so I can get some extra help learning complicated songs like this.
@MERC3NARYPRODUCTIONS Day-ummmm ! You are extremely talented !
I just started learning this 2 weeks ago and I only mastered the first part.
I can legitimately play this. I have it memorized lol.
i really like jazz, rag, and blues and i am learning this song. personally i think it sounds better when a person plays because a computer can't put the same dynamics and feeling as a person. i can tell that the computer held the notes too long from listening to my siblings and bro-in-law play it
cool!
I like this
I finished this piece in 5 days, but not yet mastered. I will be mastered perfectly maybe in 2-3 weeks
Must...learn...this... Song!
Zero Punctuation and its Top 5 Games of 2010 brought me here! :)
Nice
Did you remove the newer version of this one? That was good please reupload
Epic
I just want to run around to this song
wow
shortest time taken to find a song name
15 minutes
you wouldnt believe how complicated it was
this song is so dope
Awesome song! I hear a friend play it a lot. My mom hears it too and she wants me to ask him to teach me but she doesn't know that I have a huge crush on him! I'm not sure if I should be scared or exited....
pretty good... I started learning this song when I was 5 and I played it the same way u did just now... the rhythm is kinda odd but its still pretty good considering that this is a kinda hard song... thumbs up tho 👏👍😊
My friend Addie can play this. Her fingers literally fly across the keyboard when she plays this. It's so cool.
@MrsCurrin agreed - they are mezzmerizing
Cooking mama
lol
IT'S NOT MINE
Jonathan Li lol, that's what I thought too
"Fig Leaf Rag" is a better-sounding piece for cooking mama, in my opinion.
Cooking grandma
haha it is hard! it's my recital piece- my 2nd year in piano and its sooooo hard! will be posting me playing it in our xmas special coming soon ;)
@Graystorm39 Yeah it is. When my father plays it at our steinway, it sounds really amazing :-P
@Graystorm39 yes I did ! Best ragtime in the world.
I like It
@dantheman315 if you have 'synthesia' (thats what time program is called) you can play at any speed all you need is the 'midi' file and it works for any song, i learn sections writing the notes on paper then practice and put it all together you should try it
I started this in december, only learning off this video no sheet music, and right now i can do the A Section, B Section, C Section and the right hand of the D Section, i'm almost done learning completely off of this one video
Good job but consider learning how to read sheet music. I used to learn off Synthesia too but now that I can read, it's a lot faster to learn new music. It's like reading a book almost, just practice everyday and you'll get better.
thank god for these videos or i would never be able to learn how to play this song THANKS FROM US NOT SHEET MUSIC READING PIANO PLAYERS EVERYWHERE!!!!
I have played this song on piano is gud song i love it
Thank
@skrikon get the score, it's public domain. Practice very slowly and be patient with yourself. After a few weeks you'll do it! Practicing ragtime is somewhat like training in the fitness studio.
very true.
Wow
A penny farthing is one of those old timey bikes with the really big front wheel.
What software was uses to make this?? Thanks! :)
umm does it have to be a midi where you can dowmload? or can you just play it on the site? cuz i dont know how to export it if you cant download.
That must be the new Canada hymn ;D
this looks hard.
I just handed my nephew the sheet music to this. He'd run away screaming into the night if he saw this video and Lord knows I wouldn't blame him.
Hey... he's 12 years old!
@teresahan1991 Hardest piece by Joplin, would you say? I ask merely because I'm a classical pianist with very little experience in Ragtime, but would love to learn some for my repetoire.
Lembro muito bem dessa musica no canal control dos celulares antigos bom demais o jogo a musica melhor ainda
@aboynamedsir Actually, they were even sillier back in the old days. The glass harmonica, a kind of pianolike instrument consisting of spinning glass bowls on a common shaft.
Here's what Friedrich Rochlitz had to say:
"The harmonica excessively stimulates the nerves, plunges the player into a nagging depression and hence into a dark and melancholy mood that is apt method for slow self-annihilation. If you are suffering from any nervous disorder, you should not play it[...]"
@parodymanstudios15 what key did you learn it in?
