When I was a little kid I was terrified of riding a skateboard and didn't want to learn how to. But this was my favorite song and I would always imagine some guy skating till night fall on the streets of my hometown because he loved it so much. Didn't know that dude that I imagined was me after all these years. It's just so crazy and surreal.
This song has aged so well. First thing I did when I bought my first complete board after almost 20 years was ask my buddy “you still kick-push?” We hit the basketball courts at my nearby junior high and just talked shit and caught up on some flat ground. Amazing song.
2023 still gives me a supernatural vibe I love the beat and horns Soo much everything is amazing about this legendary track I love you Lupe Fiasco bro this song gave me a better spirit ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
It's sad man. Even then, only a few appreciate the realness. The rest of these kids are I'll informed and even when you put some real stuff in front of them, they trash it.
As much as I love this song. hip hop was still "dead" and fans argued about it. Don't forget "snap yo fingaz" was around and other bubble gum shit. If you disagree with me that's cool but that just shows that nothing has changed in hip hop. Louder perhaps but people still argue about the same crap. We'll be saying the same shit in 2020's hip hop.
Was? Brother he dropped 4 albums since 2019 including 1 this year. He's STILL one of the best lyricist alive. I recommend you listen to his song called Cake. He dropped it a few months ago.
When you think about it, this song is a great metaphor for life. 🤔 You "kick" at life when it puts heavy obstacles in your way, since legs are the largest muscle groups within the human body. If you are in a leadership role, at times you will "push" your personal wants & desires to the side in order for the greater good, i.e., caring for your family & community as a whole. During the moments when life is smooth & chill, you are able to "coast" and enjoy the feeling of a cool breeze on your face. Lupe Fiasco, the poet... Dope! 💯.
I like to think that this song has a deeper meaning of going against the crowd and becoming independent, and when he talks about the people that he meets, it's about not being the only one, and finding strength in others, or something like that.
Brandon Nguyen this song is mainly about a drug dealer! Many methaphores (better roller...) about grinding in the projects then the police came and said there is no "skating" here!
Brandon Nguyen Actually it is about skate-boarding. "First got it when he was six, didn't know any tricks Matter of fact first time he got on it he slipped @186811 "
Lupe Fiasco has always been one of those artists that broke the mold, a unique artist that you just sit back and marvel at how amazing he is. Edit but to also add on this, so many great metaphors to life itself and also without having to rely on sex appeal or even language (not that it bothers me, just very creative!) to get your point across.
It DOESN’T MATTER JUST AS LONG AS YOU GET OUT THERE!!!!!!! You know the sake community shows nothing but love ❤️ as long as you have balance your gucci

Truly fell in love with Hip Hop (and music generally speaking) the day I first listened to this. 12 yo me ran to the music store to buy a copy. 15 years later F&L is still on rotation. That’s just crazy how precious and important this has been to me. It feels like it was always there as I grew up and evolved, it helped me get through hardships as it helped me understand them, started a love for the verb, widened my worldview. That’s always the album I was going back to. I feel like it was part of my education, kinda like a big brother, basically. I feel like I wouldn’t be who I am today without it. Who else?
I had a dream last night that i was skateboarding. Now right this morning when I wake up lupe fiasco gets recommended to me. the universe is telling me something
This song was/Is so important to the hip hop culture because at that moment in time Hip-Hop didn’t have a voice for a “black skater kid/or any skater kid” Lupe bridged the gap and made Hip-Hop and even more inclusive space.
Big issue I don't see a lot of people talking abt, I can even remember at least up until 2015-16 people (including various family members) would still say shit like "black people don't skate". Love to see a lot of us on boards tho, people are beginning to fall in love with it
Was never a skateboarder but I always related to this song as a former B-Boy. Me and the homies would always get kicked out of different spots and parks when we wanted to practice breakin. That being said, Lupe is a Top 5 all time rapper for me. Legend and still making gems today
My brother used to play this song all the time taking me to school as a kid ❤ he’s been an angel exactly 3 years ago & I miss him forever & forever 😮💨🥺 Long Live Big Bro 😇

Middle school was the worst time for me, I ain’t have no friends, everybody walked over me
Man middle school was sooo bad for me I’ll be a freshman in a couple months n’ I got a big problem with my ancle so I can’t do flip tricks and ye but I’m hyped cuz I’ll get it operated
@@jamoesde9282 you’re young brotha, no matter what life situation you in just make the best of it. You’re only in highschool once so live it up and take risks but be smart about it. Take it easy 🤙🏼💯
@@ebonyh9566 I’m sorry to hear that.
@@jonathanmuro1011 thanks man, appreciate it 🙏🏼
This is the first time I’m hearing this song. So underrated.
Also, just found out that Lupe sampled Bolero Medley, a Filipino song by Celeste Legazpi.❤
This is my jam. Impossible not to be happy when I listen to this.

It makes me nostalgic and incredibly sad... -_-
When I was a little kid I was terrified of riding a skateboard and didn't want to learn how to.
But this was my favorite song and I would always imagine some guy skating till night fall on the streets of my hometown because he loved it so much.
Didn't know that dude that I imagined was me after all these years. It's just so crazy and surreal.
Curious of your age now?
truffl3huffl3 I’m curious now too lol 😂
The song is about selling drugs bud.
The song is not all about selling drugs, why would they show people skate boarding. You have no idea what you're talking about.
Bud
Lupe at Coachella baby🔥
Lupe seriously has the smoothest flow of any rapper I've ever heard.
Don't forget how happy this song makes u... that's all that matters . ❤️🔥🔥💋😊
lord reyna the nostalgia is insane. Your comment was perfect

This song has aged so well.
First thing I did when I bought my first complete board after almost 20 years was ask my buddy “you still kick-push?”
We hit the basketball courts at my nearby junior high and just talked shit and caught up on some flat ground. Amazing song.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Shout out to the Philippines for the music sample🤙
2023 still gives me a supernatural vibe I love the beat and horns Soo much everything is amazing about this legendary track I love you Lupe Fiasco bro this song gave me a better spirit ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Whole vibe
Yes, his songs always make me feel better and bring my spirits up. I Like that ❤
Hard to believe it wasn't that long ago that real hip hop was mainstream.
It's sad bruh. We only got like 4 newer dudes in the mainstream spitting real bars right now.
+James Banchon True.
hip hop never died
Lupe was a lyrical genius. His songs were deep and age well. Love boppin to this again in 24!
Was? Brother he dropped 4 albums since 2019 including 1 this year. He's STILL one of the best lyricist alive. I recommend you listen to his song called Cake. He dropped it a few months ago.
Definitely a fucking classic I absolutely love this song....this song speaks to my heart
Dope! 💯.
I'm going to revive boom bap and create amazing music for older generation and younger generations to come together,

This song is legendary!
I’m literally about to cry! I miss these days man
Actually learned to skateboard because of this song
I can relate too I started skating way after this song came out and I keep thinking of this song when a skate through the hood.
Wow really
Same.
I like to think that this song has a deeper meaning of going against the crowd and becoming independent, and when he talks about the people that he meets, it's about not being the only one, and finding strength in others, or something like that.
Brandon Nguyen this song is mainly about a drug dealer! Many methaphores (better roller...) about grinding in the projects then the police came and said there is no "skating" here!
rudy rada Dang, I never thought of it like that.
"And they escape route, they used to escape out
When things got crazy they needed to break out"
Brandon Nguyen Actually it is about skate-boarding.
"First got it when he was six, didn't know any tricks
Matter of fact first time he got on it he slipped
@186811 "
rudy rada its how it goes when we need to excape that's r way out
This is Hip Hop!

The beginning of the legendary young legend known as Lupe Fiasco
This song was my college years! It's still a vibe in 2023. Lupe fiasco was so underrated. ❤
I told my daughter this is what real music🔥🔥🔥🔥
Lupe Fiasco has always been one of those artists that broke the mold, a unique artist that you just sit back and marvel at how amazing he is. Edit but to also add on this, so many great metaphors to life itself and also without having to rely on sex appeal or even language (not that it bothers me, just very creative!) to get your point across.
This song always gets me in the mood to skate, even though I suck at it lol.
It DOESN’T MATTER JUST AS LONG AS YOU GET OUT THERE!!!!!!! You know the sake community shows nothing but love ❤️ as long as you have balance your gucci
It's annoying the broken bones you need to accumulate to get goated lol
@@mykevernaproductions2610 I know it's a typo, but I love the idea of the rice wine community being extremely supportive.
As long as you enjoy it it’s perfectly fine don’t let them bring you down!!❤
Just Keep going that’s all that matters just keep going don’t ever quit on your dreams!❤
Lupe as good as Kendrick, only one of them got buried by a label for conscious rap.
M. L. That’s because Kendrick is a fraud he do just enough to make y’all think he on some conscious shit

hip hop saved my life make me cry one day..
This song always makes me wanna get another board just to cruise around on.
Lupe teaches at MIT he is no joke definitely one of the best lyricists
First time I heard this jam was in April 2006 over the radio. Ever since then, I loved it. I later got to watch the music video and since then I got hooked to Lupe Fiasco. I still come to RUclips to watch this video once in a while because it's a timeless piece of work. Edit 31st October 2024. This track is still fire
Get yourself a skateboard and learn to kick, push, coast 👍
One of the best rap songs ever made, second verse top 20 verses in the entire genre, just incredibly seared, damn good work
TEAM LUPE 2024 🎉
100%
