I used to drink after my shifts and blast this in my room late at nights with a wish of wanting to afford independence while not having to work in a horrible environment. I feared changed for so long. 4 years later I am Blasting this nostalgia filled glory in my new car I finally managed to get late into my 20s…while on the way to my new job that pays me enough to finally afford a little more than the car payments, all while in a whole new state because I said “one day” too many times. I left everything behind, restarted my life and have finally started to see all of my hard work and downfalls turn around into growth. Sobriety. Caring for myself. This is just the beginning ! Listening to Kanye’s old hits is an instant self celebration mode !! 💛
This tune is one of the most uplifting vibes ive felt. It is lyrically on point in regards to matching the significance of the sample music. The "come up in the spot looking extra fly" is electric. Yes Ye.
Utterly amazing. Song. Video. The 35mm film. The features. Nia Long. Tracee-Ellis Ross. The Afro. Everything. And indeed, he touched the sky. And brought us along.
When I listened to this song, I was in school. I went through relationships, became an engineer, emigrated to other countries, and I still remember every time I heard it.
Never got why Lupe didn't say, "tryna stop a lion-ho like i'm Mum-rah" if he was referencing Thundercats characters Lion-O and Mum-Rah. It just woulda fit so entendrically (lying ho, lion-o)
nope plenty of artist try and mimic the same shit they did when they got famous like nas and end up falling off. kanye evolves with the time and innovates like 808s and heartbreak
I remember watching this when it first came out on MTV base sat in front of the tv on the floor. This song has never left my mind since. I’ll cherish it forever

Wow. The feels. Memories. When this song came out I had just graduated H.S., enrolled in community college, met my first love... This was a incredible time for me. Always had Kanye blasting from my car or headphones.
It's my first time listening to this Album 😭 I heard sum of the songs here and there but i never sat down and consumed the album by myself!! I must say this is HEAT!!! Somr songs give me that nostalgic classic vibe😭🔥🔥
Lupes verse is...legendary...he actaully buried Kanye in this song, I have it on vinyl from times it was released. But rspct to Kanye, no matter how he got mind fucked over time.
I pray Kanye watches his own video to see how far he's gone. Remember when you get North in your arms bro, you've never had this before. Nobody is going to keep going for him, but we'll forever say your name Ye 🙌
Fun fact, Kanye didn’t know Nia was going to hit him with the gloves, she just done it, that’s why he looks so shocked, my favourite part off the video!!
This Kanye west is amazing and I understand from a fans perception he should of stayed the same but these artist evolve ! They pass boundaries and create movements .
SaintTripleSix Kanye regressed. He came out making the music he should've made now. It's like he saw all the bad things in the future, warned us and told us why it's bad but then became that. He was speaking in hindsight of an era he never experienced. It's crazy. Kanye is now "poopity scoop" and "you're such a fucking how, I love it" with lil pump now when he used to be be space age, future seeing on the track with Lupe Fiasco, it boggles the mind.
How is it sad that he likes Trump? The speech he made on Saturday night live actually made sense. This is America we should be free to like whoever we want without judgement. I have more respect for him now because he stands up for himself and doesn't give a crap what everyone says or thinks about him. 90% of Hollywood is far left and yet he isn't afraid to walk around with a MAGA hat on, respect.
Watching this for the first time in 2024 (almost 2025). Wow incredible video and this was always one of my favorite old Kanye songs, I can’t believe I never knew it had a video.

@Smiles and the Twisted MD Most people think being loud and obnoxious is funny.
i saw him perform this live, 2 nights ago. amazing, one of the greatest songs of all time. it's so perfect, from the sample to the flow and lyrics
hell yeah, I just locked in my tickets 2 nights ago and I want to hear this live so bad! Can't wait!
+Mystery Science Gaming 3000 bro as soon as u hear the hits at 0:13 you'll lose your shit ahah I'm telling you , wish i could watch it live again
you know it! Getting pumped just listening now lol, just a couple more weeks! It is one the greatest songs imo, just perfect.
Just Blaze created the beat just 20 mins before Kanye showed up to the studio xD
Its a remix of the original legend Curtis Mayfield Move on Up!
"Lupe steal like Lupin The Third". Lupe dropping the anime references
holy shit i love this guy
ol school adult swim
This also could mean how its the 3rd verse and hes "stealing" it from Ye
Lupe' steal like loopin' the 3rd. Could he mean like stealing home in baseball? Rounding 3rd? The hardest base to steal in the game.
Manuel Aranda yeah, he's talking about stealing home in baseball, not a gay ass, obscure anime reference.
It’s honestly insane how much quality ye has put out over so many years
I keep seeing comments saying this song is underrated. Y’all gotta be young because when this song came out everyone was playing it
All these damn spring chickens out here... We were there when Kanye dropped these beats bro.. Not them.. 😂
@@thatcapuchin6597spring chickens😂
This tune is one of the most uplifting vibes ive felt. It is lyrically on point in regards to matching the significance of the sample music. The "come up in the spot looking extra fly" is electric. Yes Ye.
Yesss I remember hearing it at 17 and felt like he was talking to me lol I was hype!!
@@DollySantana till the day you die, you gon touch the sky
The original tune is from Curtis Mayfield. But Kanye definitely elevated it with the drums
I miss this Kanye. I hope he can get back to this vibe some day..

For some reason, 7 years later and this song still hot AF! Gosh Ye!
this song came out in 2006 actually
and so?
+Takudzwa Shamhu I'm just saying. it's 10 years old not 7. No disrespect meant :)
The point is, this track is still lit!
cause ye's music has insane replayability
Utterly amazing. Song. Video. The 35mm film. The features. Nia Long. Tracee-Ellis Ross. The Afro. Everything. And indeed, he touched the sky. And brought us along.
5 month later I'm still mesmerized at how creative and good this music video was Genious who ever directed and produced it
The music video for "Touch the Sky" was directed by Chris Milk
ikr
Great article and TED talk from him: www.npr.org/2015/09/11/439199892/what-happens-when-we-step-inside-the-screen
the music was made by curtis mayfield.

"Baby, Im going on a airplane, and I don't know if I'll be back again" my favorite line.
stolen from another song
When I listened to this song, I was in school. I went through relationships, became an engineer, emigrated to other countries, and I still remember every time I heard it.
WHEN LUPE HIT THAT FUCKIN TRACK
Never got why Lupe didn't say,
"tryna stop a lion-ho like i'm Mum-rah" if he was referencing Thundercats characters Lion-O and Mum-Rah. It just woulda fit so entendrically
(lying ho, lion-o)
The Curtis mayefield song is sampled so well and the sample itself takes this song to another level. Kanye’s rapping compliments it so well.
wish he still did soul shit like this. so dope.
Judson fr bro
Judson stick with what your good at rather than what makes money and the money will find a way
Judson that's what I was thinking.
nope plenty of artist try and mimic the same shit they did when they got famous like nas and end up falling off. kanye evolves with the time and innovates like 808s and heartbreak
truly creative people constantly create new things
I love Lupe’s verse. He did justice to the beat and the video
Lupe Fiasco may have one of the best verses of all time. He KILLS IT!
I remember watching this when it first came out on MTV base sat in front of the tv on the floor. This song has never left my mind since. I’ll cherish it forever
This song always reminded me of Kobe Bryant, now that he’s gone this song just makes me sad
RIP legend
Why did this remind you of Kobe?
DonDada Yes. Beautiful comment but I’m curious as well 🤔

Wow. The feels. Memories. When this song came out I had just graduated H.S., enrolled in community college, met my first love... This was a incredible time for me. Always had Kanye blasting from my car or headphones.
Kanye is a one in a billion. A true legend of our time

Damn I miss the 2004 -2009 Kanye West, his BEST era.
My high school years.

OMG! THAT Nia Long & Tracy Ellis Ross moment it forever classic!🤣
First of ALL... Lupe's Verse!
Second of ALL... Nia and Tracee's Skit!
Last but not least.. Kanye West is legendary!
kanye west old mss play word poet makes music samples
Lupe is surreal
Lupin steak like lupin the third, secret weeb
Lupes verse is...legendary...he actaully buried Kanye in this song, I have it on vinyl from times it was released. But rspct to Kanye, no matter how he got mind fucked over time.
single greatest comment
I pray Kanye watches his own video to see how far he's gone. Remember when you get North in your arms bro, you've never had this before.
Nobody is going to keep going for him, but we'll forever say your name Ye 🙌

Fun fact, Kanye didn’t know Nia was going to hit him with the gloves, she just done it, that’s why he looks so shocked, my favourite part off the video!!
People down understand how Technically proficient Lupe’s verse is even if it appears kinda simple on the surface. Guys a brilliant wordsmith.
That scene with Nia long and Tracee Ellis Ross always leaves me in stitches.
Move on up Curtis Mayfield love ❤ both songs ❤❤❤😂😂
Naw Kanye's new stuff is great. He made his 3 albums and gained his credibility so he started doing what he wants
But totally changed 360 until that for me very bad personality. So sad that even he likes Trump.
Hariz Hashim you do know 360 is a full circle? So your saying he's back to normal? You sound like a trump supporter
