Nostalgic banger. Takes me back to being a teen again in 2010-2011. You'd have to be alive during this era to know how special R&B and Hip Hop was during this time period. Hip Hop in the late 2000s and early 2010s was something special.

Everyone's nostalgia and emotions are honestly hitting me hard! I love how strangers across the world can join hands over a beautiful song about perseverance! Just beautiful 😢
I almost never do unless listening to a song, but I got shivers for some reason reading that, it’s a beautiful thing, with all the hate in the world I’m glad music will always be able to bring people together
Coming back to this song has been an absolute blessing. Just thinking about how a decade ago I was a little boy with great ambitions and a blank slate on life is something else. Cheers to everyone coming back to this timeless gem. I hope we can all prosper and reach the end goal that we have always dreamed of.
Dude. This song deadass started my personality. It started me using deep critical thinking to assess the world and also started the confusing part of getting older. I was 13 when this song came out. Will never forget buying this on iTunes on my iPod Nano
Amen to that, I was barely making minimum wage 5yrs ago, now I’m making six figures. I hope everyone finds their way and hustle! Never settle for less 👌🏽
I remember listening to this as a kid wondering if I would make it out of my hometown and be successful, and just came back years later- I made it. Thank you Lupe for the motivation when I was a kid!
I used to listen to this song while I was struggling with an eating disorder in hospital, 10 years ago. I turned on my old iPod and forgot about the whole world. Thank you, Lupe Fiasco, you made me grow up. PS: sorry for my bad English haha
Crazy how songs leave this affect on us where we can physically feel something warm in our hearts when going back to these old songs. Time has really changed & im sure many people along with myself would do anything to go back and relive 7-10 years ago.
I feel this in my soul I’ve started my own business and my success is based on giving people a chance. But in life you will cross paths with good and bad people. But what I take from this song is never get discouraged or distracted follow your dreams because the show must go on.
I’m so sorry man I can’t imagine what you went through. Just know he is watching over you and whenever you listen to this just think of it as honoring him.
This song is so uplifting!! And the fact that he’s specifically encouraging young black kids and telling them to avoid things that some glorify hits me in the heart!!
@@SaLvAdOriaN127 at least they would be original and actually written and created by the artist. Unlike anything Lupe Fiasco does. Dude was a one hit wonder and the hit wasn’t even his song. He stole it! 😂🤣😂🤣
10 years ago, i was a sophomore in college in a small town, every night after finishing study in library, on the way back to domitory i was always listeining this song. as long as i put my earpods on and the shows goes on starts i just felt i was KING of world! Back in days it was impossible to imagine that 10 years later i m listening it again sitting in my room in another country far from family and old friends. likewise i will never know what my life will be like in another 10 years.
He never vanished. The world just stopped listening. Last year he dropped one of his best albums. It has great depth, an outstanding theme, and has good production. Lupe is still developing and incorporating in his music some of the most thought provoking concepts and ideas. He is truly a pioneer. In the last album Drogas Waves, the theme is 3 parallel themes in 1. AND he develops the idea that black people and minorities deserve to have legends/mythological stories where they are the central protagonists and through these new legends/stories, these innocent victims of oppression (slaves and refugees) whose lives were taken, can be given the heroic and generally more positive narratives they truly deserve and with such, immortalized as greater-than-life heros. Ok but why do this? What is the purpose? What can a group of people gain from fictional stories? Can a history full of oppression and death for your people, full of bad winning over good innocent members of your race ...can this kind of history be a stigma for your people? I could go on and on! This is the kind of idea that one could do his graduate thesis on! What rapper is exploring such concepts/ideas in their music? Ill wait. Dont just give me a name. Give a summary of another example. No, he didnt vanish when the world needed him. People just stopped listening and caring. People just completely stopped holding morals and principles above money and fame.
One of the theme songs of 2000's, showin love to Lupe. Everyone on their grind, struggling or going through hard times keep ya head up. Africa to New York
Used to listen to this to empower myself as a kid who was never given props for anything I tried and constantly ridiculed. 2024, and listening to this while I’m killing it in life this very moment hits differently. Keep believing guys. We got this

This is my go to song for celebrating a very significant milestone for me. After struggling for almost 5 yrs I am on the brink of making my childhood dream come true. I'm 31 so you can imagine how long I've wanted this, their were time when I was about to give up but I had a great group of family and friends supporting me. I played this song today and realizing I'm can do it now made cry. Thanks Lupe for putting out such a important song to me.
This song brings me back to my middle school days... Such good times n my life, when my dad was still alive n I was just a typical kid who had no worries... What I'd do to go back to those days....
man. Wish my middle school years were good times. That’s the time when I moved for the first time in my life, and ended up getting bullied to no end. And for a cherry on top, that’s when I realized how disgusting of a man my dad is. 🙃

I was locked up in a maximum security prison in Joliet called Statesville, right outside of Chicago. All I had was a Walkman and this song on a cassette tape. I would listen to this song every day, looking out of my little cell window at all the barb wire and brown grass. the song would cut off halfway through so I would rewind it over, and over. Until one of the older guys told me you can flip the tape and it has another side to it. I would listen to this song and dream of everything I was going to do when I got out. This song has got me through times I thought were impossible. Now I’m glad to say I have accomplished everything I dreamed of and much more! This song hits deeper at 30 than it did at 15. Nostalgia
I was 12 when this came out I'm 24 how the time flies and I agree the older we get the more songs become nostalgic

Proof our generation was king
Heh yeah
When the world needed artists like Lupe the most, he vanished.
Lol
He never left
Nigga he still around lmao
Lmaooo
Can we get music like this back please? 😞😞😔😔

thank the industry
Yes please

I was locked up in a maximum security prison in Joliet called Statesville, right outside of Chicago. All I had was a Walkman and this song on a cassette tape. I would listen to this song every day, looking out of my little cell window at all the barb wire and brown grass. the song would cut off halfway through so I would rewind it over, and over. Until one of the older guys told me you can flip the tape and it has another side to it. I would listen to this song and dream of everything I was going to do when I got out. This song has got me through times I thought were impossible. Now I’m glad to say I have accomplished everything I dreamed of and much more!
