Do you know why Jill Scott is underated. It's because no one seems to recognize and appreciate her unique vocal agility. Which is her uncanny ability to seemlessly transition from angelic vocal expression to the powerful execution of strong dynamic range. In my personal opinion she has achieved mastery over this skill.
Wow this adds so many layers on top of the original. Jill Scotts vocals are so delicious. Could fall asleep under the flowers under the flowers listening to this. Who's here because of Mr Robot?

"Today started just like yesterday and the day before that and the day before that and every day for the last month, a loop, my perfectly constructed loop."
Lupe is one of the greatest ever. This song is going over 99% people's heads... First half of the 1st verse he's talking about the industry (the robot) and how he has to keep them happy or they will drop him since he can't have success without them. In the 2nd part he's talking about how society is constructed while comparing each section to a body. At the bottom are prostitutes, crime & police and at the face of society are the entertainers (him self). 2nd verse is a continuation of the first half of the 1st verse and states what entertainers are doing to keep the industry (robot) happy (promoting evil by making drugs, alcohol, guns & sex cool). What entertainers are showing you is evil (fire) and fake (smoke machines and simulated rain) but is at the same time done in a way that's not harsh enough to upset the masses. The sleeping (ignorant) baby (you) is being influenced by him (the entertainer) and his robot (the industry) as they grow up. He finishes the verse by saying he turned his back on promoting these things and draws parallels to television which also influenced (raised) him & us.
the song from my childhood that will never get old ❤ my dad putting this on in the car nonstop as a kid is a core memory for me and is what sparked my love for lupes music and he’s my favorite artists🫶🏻 nothing could ever replicate the feeling of hearing this song for the first time at full blast driving in the rain as a little kid 🥹
this was the first lupe song i ever heard and even to this day it's still one of my fav. songs of all time. I remember when i was a little kid, i went in singing jill scotts part, i was moved.
It’s such a beautiful, existential, soul journey. I miss these artists. I don’t like to be the one to complain about todays music, but they do try to explore their emotional sides, but it’s all surface, and no substance. They don’t know how to make it not all about themselves.

That first verse is most definitely Lupe describing his hood. More accurately, the society is structured. The way this man illustrates the world from his eyes is incredibly unique.
My 10-year-old son introduced me to Lupe Fiasco and this wonderful rap mix, with Jill Scott’s unique voice, orchestra and the little, simpatico robot. Wonderful 🤗
Actually this is a cover of "Daydream", a song from the Belgian Band "The Wallace Collection", a hitsingle in Europe some fifty years ago. Although I'm Flemish and a little bit chauvinistic, I really like this version.
