Steve, unable to find a shoe repairer locally to do the job, using your technique I put tips on a brand new pair of my own shoes. Even if I say so myself they turned out great. All the credit must go to you though for passing on the knowledge you have to your viewers. You are a true craftsman. May you forever continue.
It’s not just your skill, but your generosity of spirit that I admire. You must really love what you do to fix the mistakes of someone else... but to want to teach that person, that gave me the biggest smile of my day. Thank you!
Tony Quigley if you could do that amount of work to that degree of perfection in 20 mins why not start your own shop? You’re an idiot if you think that the length of video is how long the job took . Lightening the colour alone would take a lot longer than that 🙄
This ladies and gentlemen is a true craftsman who loves and respects what he does... and his reaction to a butcher job. Steve, Stefano is smiling down at you...Grazie, fratello, grazie..
I almost cried when Steve's cutter ruined the leather. What a pain! Magic! Take two was instant. All that work. He'll recycle the leather. Nothing goes to waste. What a kind person! That's very thoughtful to reach out to the person who failed to do the job. To offer somebody else how to properly do the job, that would be very helpful if that Cobbler will accept. God bless!
Oh my gosh you would never know you touched them . Steve, your the bomb.! You are a gift to the tubers. 😎 cool dude you are and your videos are straight up not much editing.it is what it is. Love it!
I jumped out of my seat on that knife slip, and won't repeat what I exclaimed. You've got me thinking as if I'm working the job right with you. Thanks for keeping it in - making you less godly, but human. Another beautiful job to be proud of.
I love your videos. I am an antique furniture restorer and know just how you feel when you have to try to fix a previous "fix" that wasn't done correctly. When you love your work and take pride in doing your absolute best it is hard to understand someone who doesn't. Keep up being a true craftsman.
Really, Steve, your channel is amazing in so many ways: I could feel how upset you were about the shoes being ruined; about wanting to help the person who made the mess out of them. I could feel you actually being down about taking the sole apart, your growling stomach (nerves). Your sighs. I don't know of anytime I've watched an upload anywhere that I could hear someone talk and know they were as upset as you were. You have good reason to be upset; it is a shame that something so fine was ruined. Thank you for trusting us enough to share your work in a frustrating situation.
Hi Steve, I learned so much about quality shoes on your channel that I'm much more informed and wiser when buying shoes for myself, thankyou for the education sir ☺
That dude/woman would be buying me new shoes, or at least paying your bill. No way in hell I'm messing up expensive shoes; just terrible. I know the customer will be happy with them this time! Great job!
I understand your feelings about repairing other people's work. Years ago, I repaired pipe organs and pianos....many times I have opened up an organ console and was shocked by the previous persons work, or lack thereof! It was a shame that because the work was hidden from view...the previous technician would do a poor job. So the church would end up paying twice for the same work. Somebody to first mess it up...then me to fix the mess. It used to bother me greatly.
What an outstanding job! It takes a lot of integrity and modesty to show your mistakes. You could easily have edited out, but you didn't. It only shows how hard of a job it is and how skilled you need to be. Congratulations!!!
Wow, you're a rare breed. You replace material at no charge. You fix unexpected issues at no charge. You reach out to competitors to offer valuable information. You take pride in your work. What are you....Mr. Rogers of cobbling?
Steve, this has been your best job sofar. Not only for another outstanding “repair” but primarily your genuine love for your work. Its so great to watch how you strive to deliver the best and don’t settle for a quick fix. And please continue to Hammer. Ps can’t wait for my shoes to be repaired by Theo. Dropped them of last weekend and have full trust in him after talking to him for a while and seeing the same passion for the trade as you have. Thanks again for a great video
Excellent save ! My heart sunk when you turned that beautiful shoe over ! I can only hope the person who attempted this job reimbursed the customer . And hopefully he accepts your help to increase his skill level. 👍❤
WOW!! Magnificent Steve- “ An artist creates for himself and a craftsman creates for others.” Your father is so proud of you and your son is a very fortunate young man to have such a wonderful role model. I watch your videos not only for your excellence but your life philosophy- 🙏
While I do not have the most extensive knowledge of shoes, or the passion that you do for them, I recognize skill and craftsmanship when I see it. I keep coming back to watch your videos just to appreciate your craftsmanship and somehow it is even relaxing! Thank you Steve for sharing your mastery and artistic touch!
I have immense respect for you wanting to reach out and teach someone who made a mistake you had to fix. There are not many stand-up men left like you in the world, I'm sure your dad would be very proud of you.
Hi Steve, unfortunately there are hacks in every trade who are more than eager to rip people off, do poor quality work and make the rest of us look bad. As a carpenter for 20+ years, I've seen and repaired my fair share of other people's bad work. Thankfully there are people like you out there who take pride in what they do and do it well. Thanks bud.
I just watched this earlier today. I almost had heart attack when I saw that so called french tip! You're such an amazing person for always giving your customer the best service possible. Much love from Singapore. xo
Thank goodness, you posted a video today. These videos are a source of peace, tranquility, and learning for me. I can now hit play and be distracted in a pleasant way for the next 46 minutes!
Never have I seen so much angst during a job. This one really got to you. I’m a developer and I feel the same way when I see poor coding, it’s just lazy. You rock.
Another great video Steve- refreshing to see the maestro make a mistake! Love that you totally owned though and did the right thing by the customer! Awesome work boss.
I really love your channel. I've never owned shoes that fancy in my life, and know nothing about shoes, but I just love watching you work. You are a brilliant craftsman and it's great how much passion you have for it. I think it's awesome that you decided to reach out to the guy. I gasped out loud when you cut through the leather! You should absolutely send the video to the Stefano Bemer company. Greetings from the mountains of New Mexico.
You craftsmanship is unequaled. You are a perfectionist. I'm fairly much the same as you, but I'm a tailor. I sure have a love for my craft like you. God bless you always.
Oh my goodness, I was holding my breath when you were scoring on take two. But "hammer time" made me laugh and I was able to breathe again. And please, no skipping lunch!
Steve you put the heart back into these great shoes, I think the owner will get a #9 smile when he wears them every time knowing how you were able to keep them walking. Sometimes perfection isn't what we have rather what comes next so let's continue!
Oh man, this is impressive, can't believe I watched the whole hour! I am sure Daniel Day-Lewis would be proud as well. what impresses me the most is how carefully you trimmed and hammered around the arch area, that can just be made by a true master. Kudos!
That looks better Steve ,Nice too hear you wistle on the job .thx for the video .👍🏻👍🏻❤️❤️see you next time.your dads tools men time Goes fast Steve but we never forget 👍🏻
It's good to see you make a mistake, and then rectify it. Even that is a lesson for us. Fantastic job on the re-soling. To re-create the original sole in picture perfect form speaks volumes as to your dedication and craftsmanship, Steve. Awesome.
Solid job. I thought there's no way to get those back together looking as good but you pulled it off. They actually look better than when they were new.
Steve I paused the video after seeing your finished product. It looked just as good as before you started working on the shoe! Once again, Awesome job my friend! Alright let's continue! (presses play)
I completely understand how you feel doing this job. It shows that you take you're work seriously but also that you care about your customers. My husband and I own a swimming pool construction business and we are routinely called in to fix problems that other businesses have caused. In the end the customer is the one who is hurt and that just seems so unfair to me.
Man tbh the guy that messed them up should have paid for them to be corrected and I hope a bird shit on his birthday cake for passing sorry craftsmanship to a customer with that caliber shoe ....I'm glad you shared this video I've had this same thing happened to me except I got the plastic tips what a joke...GREAT JOB STEVE AND THANKS FOR SHARING
Hi Steve! Whew I was holding my breath when you re-cut that channel. We all make mistakes and I did like that you showed yours. I have low blood sugar and when I need to eat it's "get out of the way". Feel you!
Incredible. You are absolutely, positively incredible. WOW, WOW. My shoes are not going anywhere else as long as I can wear shoes and you are able to recraft them!
As usual, great job. I realize that at first it may have been a daunting task but you carried it off professionally. It's why people watch your videos. I with I could have filmed myself back in my carpet installing days. They called me "Johnny Project" because I was so fussy. Had to be perfect. You know what I'm saying.
I remember those black current candies as my favorites when I lived in Canada. Those numbers remind me of the different sized custom letters, numbers and cut and hardened them and tempered them. I’m satisfied every time I use them still.
Your wife is one lucky lady! As an artist, I’m drawn to other artists. I also love the fact you’re not afraid to put in the f*ck-ups. That takes balls! Love your work! 💖
Another wonderful job Steve! Gosh, I feel for the gentleman that trusted one to do a *proper French Tip* and was met with that horrid result! Like my Dad would say, "If in doubt, ask about".
EXCELLENT WORK LIKE ALWAYS! AND TO THE PEOPLE WHO SAY THE COST ISN’T WORTH IT COMPARED TO THE SHOES VALUE DOESN’T TAKE ALL THINGS INTO CONSIDERATION LIKE, THE CUSTOMER MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO GET THAT STYLE ANY LONGER AND IN FACT REALLY LIKES IT OR IT FITS BETTER THAN ANY OTHERS THEY HAD TRIED. THE FACT OF THE MATTER IS THIS GENTLEMAN DOES EXCEPTIONAL WORK AND BRINGS SOMEONES FAVORITE SHOE BACK TO LIFE AND SOMETIMES BETTER THAN ORIGINAL!
Gotta admit, I had to read the comments to find out if this had a successful ending before I could watch the video. I'm too squeamish when it comes to pricey, well-loved things getting messed up. Good job, Steve!
I think it would be cool to have the customers reaction to the great job you did. I always wonder what they think after you've worked on their shoes and such.
Sounds like a good case for Judge Milan. You would make an excellent expert witness. Have you ever designed a shoe or produced a pair? That would make some awesome content! ✌

"Ur generosity of spirit" lol, 600 dollars for a 20 min job :P
@@tonyquigley6543 how do you know it was 600$?

@@pope406 He was paying attention. The figure '$599, rounded to $600' was mentioned.

How you talk when you started cutting into the shoe is why I watch your videos. Your passion for what you do is incredible.

Any sole touched by your hands is far better than any stock factory shoe. I would go as far to say you are also a sole king of the bespoke realm.

But I know you'll do an amazing job on these gems ❤
