Some people reported that YT doesn't promote this video in their subscribed feed. If you think this video is worth to share, then do it on your social media please. Thanks guys!
I'm subscribed but the notification bell wasn't on (I didn't turn it off) so I re-clicked it. Your vlog was 16 hrs old when I saw it in my random offerings. A lot of weirdness on YT at the moment, so it isn't just your channel.
It doesn't show up in my subscriptions feed, but it showed in my recommendations. How weird. I am certainly subscribed.
@@girlnorthof60 Yes, it seems that it is not just on-off. YT tries to predict your intentions and then weird things occur.

Genius, from start to finish. This wasn't a restoration, it was a resurrection. Many people would have given up after only a few hours--this trunk was in very rough shape. Loved seeing you work with the canvas fabric, the color matching, and the local company replicating the original fabric liner. Of course it was worth it--we got to see you work another miracle on an antique piece! Beautiful job!
It would have been firewood for me !
I agree 100% worth it just to watch you work your magic! You are a true artist! It came out beautifully! I hope it has a nice, long second life!
Completamente de acuerdo.
You had the right of it! Complete resurrection!
Baumgartner would be proud of that canvas repair.
And the retouching paint is superb.
I was hearing Julian narrate in my head watching that bit!
Love his channel. Not sure he'd approve of the over painting 🤣
You mentioning Baumgartner made me look up that channel. Fascinating work there as well. Thank you for that.

Je suis d'accord.
This work conserved the trunk. As others said, its conservation is the result of the work of a genius. .... and no spiders were harmed in conserving this trunk.
Bravo hai le mani d'oro
I too expected that you would replace the old coloring and pinstripes. So glad you truly restored the trunk. The new replacement interior was a most pleasant surprise. ❤❤
When I saw this trunk I thought no way can you restore this. Thanks for making me a believer in hard work and patience.🤩
Incredible!! I wonder: Do you ever get in the middle of a project and think, What was I thinking when I said I’d do this??!! 😄 There’s no apparent end to your extraordinary talent. It’s a joy to watch you work your magic.
My daughter and I have watched every video you have made. We found you about 3 years ago and always love to see your restorations. You are so meticulous and never do anything halfway. You pour yourself into all of your projects and it is always a pleasure to watch a master craftsman at work!
Whenever we happen to watch anyone else do restoration projects, we say to each other, “AT would not have done it that way”, or “AT would have repaired that first”. We cannot help but compare all other restorers to you! You are THE BEST!
We use the same PVA and wheat starch paste mix in bookbinding! Love how knowledge in one craft bleeds into so many others. Great work, as always!
That was one of the most interesting and fun projects I've seen you work on. Working with the canvas to extend the damaged and missing leather. Fascinated with the technology to print the interior fabric. This was a real joy. Nice work!
You ask "Was it worth it?" Well, if you charge 60 euro/hr, then 6000 euro. Amazing patience, and attention to detail. (And lets not forget the kindness to spiders).👌👍👏🙏
Ready for Bukowskis for 6000 Euro:)
Thats exactly what i thought because its also our hourly rate for labor in the workshop. You'd of course had to add material cost and what not 😅
Add the spiders back for a fully complete restoration?
It was well worth it, you did an excellent job, keep up the good work!
That old trunck is a piece of history.. worth it? Absolutely.
It’s hard to find words to describe how amazing your knowledge of the processes are. You have such a gift.
100 % it was worth it!!!
Bravo Sir, yet another outstanding restoration.
And again you have passed on a wealth of knowledge. Thank you !
Loving the music as well !😀✊
For some reason YT hasn’t been notifying me when you have a new video out, 🤦♂️😖so have just reset the settings again. ✊👍
this is truly unbelievable restoration, no wonder that you spent 100 hours doing it, the outcome is great 👋👋👋💯
Wonderful results 😂
Trabalho maravilhoso!
What a beautiful restoration! You patched areas I wouldn't have believed could be fixed. The trunk looks like it is ready for the next 100 years!
Finally a new video!! Love your work so much!!
Absolutely worth it! WOW!!!!! You are amazing!!!!!!!
That was amazing! I loved seeing the fabric conservation technique with the flour - so interesting! Thanks for sharing.
The minute I saw the notification for your channel I jumped right on. I will always be here for a restoration from you. You are a genius Ahti. The trunk was literally falling apart and I was trying to imagine how it would turn out. But of course I always know that you can do anything with the patience of a saint. You are a very talented artist and tradesman. I didn't doubt you for a second. I love watching your videos. The products are always right on. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and your wisdom. Many could learn so much from you.😊❤😂🎉
Love this! So happy to see you only replaced what could not be saved such a joy to watch, 100 hours is a long time but so worth it in the end. Great job.
Ahti, you have just completed a miracle restoration!!! Another excellent example of your attention to detail, and the character of the original look, without making it look new. I am always impressed by your work, and your many talents. You are the BEST Ahti! YES, it was absolutely worth the time you spent on it. The final result made me all teary-eyed. Amazing!!
Your true restorations always amaze me. Fabulous work! Fascinating viewing. Thank you!
Oh my word, that was freaking brilliant! At first I thought you were just restoring it to stabilize it for a museum display....then you did your magic color matching with the canvas! Wow. What a wonderful video and so may awesome techniques - several of which I can see my self using.
Thank you SO much!
Fantastic restoration as usual 👏 I loved the sensitive conservation of original features ❤
You did a real great job!!!
And the result is stunning... each hour was well done!!!
That's what a museum conservator does... from damaged and nearly gone to rebirth!!!
Congrats and chapeau 🎩👍👍🇩🇪
Compliments! A very charming piece that returns to its beauty! Who knows where it may have traveled in his youth! Thank you for this dream! 🥇🥇🥇
That was awesome, and very much worth it! I loved the glue mixture…. What a great tip! Thanks for sharing!😊❤😊
Thank you for rescuing the spiders instead of killing them on sight like most people do! ❤
@sandraforsman4971
In Slav folklore, killing a spider is VERY bad luck!
@@MirkaZemanovamy background is Russian and Polish. My grandmother always said the same thing.
Wow! Well done!!😍🎃🎃☠️🎃💀☠️
It is us and the spiders against the Bugs!
Fabulous restoration!! It matched up so well. From old to well done looking old but renewed! Sounds silly but I mean well. Happy New Year! As always, God bless and take care from your long-time California subscriber 🙏 🤲
A new lease of life for this trunk, beautiful. Anti your a very gifted young man. Keep going. 👍👍👍
Absolutely YES it was worth the time, work and money to make this old truck beautiful once again.
Who knows how many wonderful adventures that trunk has been through. And now... it's ready for many more adventures in it's future.
Lovely job, Ahti! 👍
Your work is always amazing... thank you! 🤗🤟🙏
Beautiful. 😊 ... and now it will last another hundred years. 👏👏
Maestro, respect for your excellent work!
Hi, this is amazing and worth every hour! Wow Wow Wow. These old suitcases have become so rare, so it’s wonderful that one more is still alive.
wow Ahti, you really brought it back to life. It's gorgeous! Well worth the 100 hours you put into it.
"Was it worth it?"...HELL YES....BRAVO!!!
You NEVER disappoint...and thanks for sharing the pro tip with the flour and PVA mixture...definitely going to try it myself.
So many details, and technics. Well done! Looking forward to the next project 👏🏻
Incredible work, Ahti. Another interesting piece restored and preserved.
Had one of those when I was a kid. My paternal granny brought it from Spain to my country in 1928. It was covered in doped canvas and painted a deep pine green. Steel flanges and brass fittings. It weighed a ton for a wee lad like I was at the time. Wish I had it, now.
Glad to see you keep the shout outs to the local businesses. Always a nice gesture.
Cheers.
Ok, this was absolute magic!❤
You are saving a heritage ... Thank you ... 🙏🙏🙏
Was it worth it? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!! Wow! That is thee most spectacular restoration I have ever seen. You are incredibly talented sir. Thank you for sharing your skills. I’m in awe. I figured out by the 4th piece of white canvas that you were going to paint it. But I never excepted it to be this grand. Absolutely stunning. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤️🇺🇸
I have said it before and I will say it again you are a true master at restoration no mater the piece
This cabin chest turned out incredible I look forward to watching your other pieces
Amazing!! This trunk was toast! You are truly talented! Incredible as always ✨
OMG 🤩🤩🤩Your attention to detail is mind blowing; the time & skills you have used here - WOWWW 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
The result is wonderful 🏆🏆🏆
Very handsome restoration indeed. I love that you replicated the original lining fabric.
Я восхищаюсь вашим титаническим трудом!!!! Вас ничто не может остановить, вы способны восстановить вещь в любом состочнии!!! Отличная работа!!!!!🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊
I’m sure the owner of this trunk considers it worth it. This trunk must hold precious memories for them. You did a beautiful job, as you always do.
You are a definite Professional! I did almost the same thing you did with a trunk by the same manufacturer as yours. But, I couldn't even dream of how to restore the interior cloth! You are Einstein resurrected! Thanks for a great job, and a great video!!!
So wonderful restauration. You are ready for the Orient Express.
It is always worth the time all 100 hour's Friend, excellent work as usual Thank You for the share. Have a nice day all !!!. Brian UK !!!. 😀👍🏁.
I’ve always loved old trunks… that was in rough shape… once again you performed magic on it…
Putting the fabric liner in alone… I would have wrinkles all over the place… your talents are amazing… wonderful work … thanks for sharing with everyone… 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
well..😳..well.😳... when I saw that suitcase I thought, "it's too damaged and can't be repaired". and then see the result...👍😁😍..so absolutely fantastic.🥰,..and yes it was definitely worth the hours of work....👍👍. Take care 😘
You deserve having more subscribers. It would surely show the subscribers the kind of work you do resurrecting old furniture. This one here beats them all. I would have given up on it the moment the critters appeared and the whole trunk was ready to fall apart. Your talent is exceptional. Love watching you at your skill. YT need their head examined if they think this and your videos aren't worth promoting.
It is just automatic system and it is not always perfect.
Absolutely beautiful and worth every minute. Your work is amazing with such attention to detail. The trunk is resurrected wonderfully. Thank you for sharing this fantastic work.
I don't now how worth it was but it was for me watching you work on it. Connects me to the days my dad was still whole and handy, smell of terpentine and wood chips always take me to his glory days. The process is always worth it to me. Not everything needs to be about money.
Very pristine work!! Well done!! Bravo!!!🤩🤩👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Good job! You preserved a wreck and saved it from being scraped. For this alone you deserve a medal!
Another fabulous restoration breathing new life into an old treasure. You are truly talented 🎉
Definitely worth it spiders and all. But you could show the cat now and then 😁 I trust she is well and uses her incredible cat toilet
Fewer spiders more cat!
Спасибо за прекрасную работу . Получил огромное удовольствие . Воспоминания из детства трогает задушу , спасибо .
You are a carpenter but also a fabric tailor, able to work both at the same time. Rigor and precision in gestures, work with love.
Amazing! 3/4 through the video I still thought: this is the one project that cannot look up to his standards in the end. But you proved me wrong. Fabulous outcome!
👏👏👏 Bravo maestro!!!!
I really enjoyed watching your many skills in restoring that old trunk. Congratulations on this very worthwhile project. 👍
This was definitief worth it. Beautiful
I work on steamer trunks. I never thought you would get the paint color to blend in. It looks great. I'm going to cover my next trunk with fabric and line it with a light weight fabric. Thank you....I learned a lot by watching this. It look great.
Thank you for being kind to the spiders. ❤
Absolutely worth it!!!
Beautifully done! Phenomenal!
My mum restored a similar one to this one. Same color and details even! It’s one of my favorite pieces of “ furniture “ in my bedroom. It’s great for storage and holds so much memory from a different time and place.
Gorgeous. The custom fabric is a nice touch 🤗
Amazing work. You really are a master craftsman. And it's such a pleasure to watch you give new life back to something most people would just throw out as junk.😍
Everything you do is incredibly beautifully done! Congratulations!👍👏
I'm glad I watched you do this. I have 3 of these, for years I've never wanted to attempt their repair , but you hit all the problems I would encounter with mine. And, I think mine was red, one of them, not orange, wheen it was painted and it has faded over time. Seeing the fabric printed was very interesting! I've wonndered how some things like that were accomplished. The results are stunning! Thanks very much, beautiful work!❤❤❤❤
If I were to see these two side by side, I would never, in a million years, believe it was the same piece.
You never cease to astonish me. Truly.
I LOVE how much attention you paid to details and restored it to its original appearance, including replacing the lining with an original copy of the fabric! Its WONDERFUL! Thank you!❤
Wow! You have an impressive knowledge of techniques and use them all perfectly! What a beautiful restoration! Even the leather strap was sewn, the inner fabric added the final charm. You are magnificent, Ahti! Bravo!👏👏👏🌷
Wow!! Great work and amazing attention to detail. Was it worth it ..... if it pleases you or some one you love .... YES!
You brought this truck back from the dead! It looks great! Just what I need to see. In the very near future, I'll be working on two steamer trunks from the early 1700s to the early 1800s. I'll start on those as soon as I finish my dining room table, 3 antique cedar chest, and an antique rocking chair. Each item only needs the finishing touches except 1 cedar chest it needs a little more than finishing touches! I also need to do a polishing on a mid century bed. I love love, love working with antiques!
Ви все вміете робити! Вас Бог наділив такими талантами... Дякувати що е такі люди! Гарна робота
Ahti, you are a pure magic! Thanks to you I have managed to restore couple of vintage furniture items. Thank you very, very much for all your wonderful work and superb videos. You're the best!
Beautiful and meaningful restoration and certainly a labour of love. I liked that you used a similar fabric on the inside. Very chic!
Love it. Mad respect for your craftsmanship! 😍
Seeing its old fragile state before restoration, I think I'm even more afraid to use that trunk despite looking like the usual restored antique furniture rn.
Thanks for sharing the reasoning behind the techniques you've used for this restoration. It's really generous of you to do that.
And no worries, the spiders look cute!
This has to be one of the best! Definitely my favourite of your videos, and there's been so many I really like!
You, Sir, are The Master!
With every piece you work on, I respect you more and more. You are a real master. Love from Turkiye.💐
This is superb work! Great attention to detail; love the outcome!!! 👏👍 ❤️
You done a brilliant job on the trunk. Looks so much better now, and last longer xxxx
Fantastic job!!! ❤️❤️❤️👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I follow quite a few restoration channels and I’ve got to say that this is one of the best restorations I’ve ever seen on RUclips. You did a fantastic job and, yes, I think it was worth it.
Absolutely worth it. Beautiful piece of history brought back to life with all your hard work, creativity and skills. Wonderful video. Thank you.
You never cease to amaze me. Exceptional restoration❤❤❤❤❤
Absolutely unreal restoration. I can see why it took over 100 hours but it was well worth it. You saved it! Brought it back to life and then made an amazing video for everyone to enjoy. When you peeled back that canvas though it was disgustingly awesome. Glad the spider eventually ran free 😂 when I find spiders on my projects, I have to edit out my little squeals ha ha.
You do fab work. 👏 Leanne 😊
As always I am I awe of your skills and techniques that you display for your audience. I always learn a something new. Thank you for sharing.🕵♂
What a wonderful restauration! The trunk is gorgeous now! You have showed us techniques I wasn’t aware existed…like the material covering the trunk…and the glue process…and the reproduction of an old design…I hope the owner love it and is paying you the good price for those 100 hours…It has great value as an antique trunk..
Magnificent!
Amazing work. The inside looked as beautiful as the outside, too! Thanks for sharing.🕷️
“WORTH IT!!” ❤❤❤ Excellent Job 😊🎉
I’m watching all the videos on your channel. I used to do this kind of work. Lots of good memories. I miss it. You do a really good job. Thanks for sharing with us.
You are the master. This beautiful result was worth it to me. Thank you for sharing your amazing craft with us.
Omgoodness this is fantastic! Thanks for sharing your work! ❤
You absolutely amaze me with your talent! It’s the first time I have seen a trunk makeover! I used to have an English steamer trunk a bit like that and it eventually fell apart. I wish I had known it could have been restored as I was reluctant to throw it away. Beautiful restoration. 🤗🇦🇺
