I really liked your work so much, congratulations! But as for the wallpaper, I think it could have been different, keeping the old ferry trunk style. Still, it was really cool!
Beautiful restoration. My great-grand parents brought their possessions from Ireland in trunks just like that one. The adults were allowed a full size trunk each and each child got a half-sized trunk. They brought a total of nine steamer trunks.
The addition of the paper was spot on. The design emulated the pattern of the original lining of the chest, but on a somewhat larger scale. Quite a statement piece, and one can see that styling being used today.
According to the Oxford Dictionary Restoration: the act of restoring something to a former or original condition. To repair, reconstruct, refurbish, rebuild. Therefore mission accomplished. And beyond that he has helped reduce landfill by restoring a piece most of us would never have imagined attempting to do.
Absolutely brilliant restoration 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 But sorry not a fan of the blue wallpaper on the outside…maybe a more muted paper, similar to the original colors on the ends of the outside & back?
Wonderful craftmanship. Embellishments are everything on those steamer trunks. My only criticism is the wallpaper on the outside and whatever you used for the lining. That should've been fabric. The right choices there would've elevated it to a super luxe piece.
Absolutely incredible restoration of this beautiful steamer trunk. I used to have 3. Two round top and one flat top. They were 100 yrs old and in like new condition except they needed new locks. Brings back fond memories. ~Kevin

Wow what an amazing transformation 👍 watching you fill all those old nail holes I imagine would have taken some time. I liked all the finishing touches. Concert sounded great also. Well done my friend 👏👏👏👏
I would love to know what products/mixtures you used. The metal work is amazing. A shame some of the original features couldn't be salvaged but time marches on. Great job.
These things outlived their usefulness because they were stored in attics where they were kept dry. And who couldn’t reuse an old wooden box for storage. This is my fourth restoration watching on RUclips tube. I love it.❤❤❤❤😊

You did a great job, but you should have put hessian underneath the metal strips and not wall paper. The wall paper would have been great on the inside. I saw another box just like this one restored and it had leather strips on it as well pity about that. It does not look finished.
I have a very similar trunk but twice as big, used for traveling on a boat, on sea; so well done. The craftmanship of these is incredible, so many details and so solid. I have a blue one and a brown one.
Hello from France Nice restoration. Used this trunk for an air trip, it's sure to have to pay a supplement for the excess weight of your luggage lol🤣🤣🤣
I have one in similar condition that has the original tooled leather wrap under the metal straps it is totally shrunk and brittle. Can’t decide whether to replace the leather or just refinish the wood and repaint the metal straps
this is beautiful. i have my grandfather's trunk from about 1943 which my aunt restored. your video is very similar to what i hold dear in my den. thank you for your excellent video.
@@Restomaniacthanks for your help. Putting it back together has been challenging. The only part now is the wheels. Do you no did they have ball bearings in them. Maybe i can find the bearings somewear. And its still original.
I liked the wallpaper idea but probably would've chosen a pattern that was closer to something that would've been appropriate for that time period. I do like the colors though and I liked when he put it in the refurbished wooden briefcase. The digital aritist in me would've taken a picture of the pattern on the inside in the clearest spot and done a repeat pattern to get printed for it. But that's the nerd in me.
I would love to know what language he was singing in! The instrument looked Romani. Your friend has a very soothing voice! You lost me on some points on what you reused. And what kind of material were those top strips? But I cannot argue with the beautiful results! Is this chest meant to be waterproof? I myself would have treated the cleaned bare wood with Thompsons water seal.
As always, the restoration work is perfect, my sincere congratulations. One final question: I am Lebanese and I immediately recognized the lute whose sound is beautiful and in Isa's hands it sounds wonderful, but I cannot distinguish the language in which he sings. Is it feasible that it be in Turkish language? Congratulations to Isa for his voice. Thank you very much in advance for answering. Greetings.
