Further update: Selling the POS because i learned the hard way that N54's are not good motors to beat on and rip burnouts with. Just problem after problem. Now in the market for a LS1 Camaro
It really is. The N54 platform is solid. Factory forged internals will get you far and very cost efficient. If you're looking to make more than 750whp in the N54, you'll have to upgrade the internals to better forged rods, but that's why you get a garaged N54 and build it just in case the stock one takes a shit. They are also extremely cheap to obtain since the 135i, 335i/is, 535i, Z4 sDrive 35i/is, X6 xDrive 35i and 740i all have the N54. Amazing platform for pushing high power and taking supercars and hellcats to gapplebees.
Cool video but I think 135i would of done better considering the light weight and hight hp rating. Especially against a 4400lbs charger that has 10hp more or someone is lying or 135 has some problems. Cool video either way.

All things being equal, the 135i should have cooked the charger having lower weight. The extra 50hp on the charger shouldn't matter, either the 135 isn't 800hp or the charger is WAY over 850.
charger is auto, those things help and yeah he had some gnarly top end.. he does mention only running wastegate pressure and singles can go way more than like 18 or 20 psi lol
Simple fact that V8 engines have linear power curves so the higher the revs, the more torque and horsepower. That's not the case with a big turbo where torque and power peak in the middle and die off at the high revs. That's why the 135 pulled off at the start and the hellcat caught up
Chevy sucks theirs internals are cast and open deck design, fanboys believe it was forged , if you’re one of them look up the public n54 pdf files released by bmw, but basically you have to close the deck and built the motor then you’ll easily hit 1000hp mark, however the n54’s brother the n55 engine specifically the one in the M2 actually comes open deck with s55 forged internals so you may see a couple of those get closer than the n54s when they’ve been out long enough and the youngest brother the s55 (closed deck forged internal, dual hpfp, charge cooled n55) that came in the m3 f80, m2 comp, m4 are actually hitting 1000hp stock block easily and docrace just released a kit that’s capable of 1250 for it hope this helps
@@dinero8331 i was talking about built blocks. And the n54 is stronger stock then the n55 all day been proven over and over. You can get 6/700hp from a stock n54 reliably. N55 450hp you start to push it.

Chevy sucks not true i know a guy running 650 WHEELhp on stock Block stock tranny on a top mount turbo on a custom jpwork 6767 ball bearing twin scroll kit and a personal friend pushing 600 hp on a big boost 3.4 kit stock block also , people blow the n55s and shit because they use the same tuning techniques used on the n54 and the 55 is more complex to tune , once you sort out the valvetronic tables, the vanos etc you can easily make power on a n55 , im in the 400 range rn on a e85 mix n55 stock turbo
