    I woke up this morning with a troubled mind and all what I wanted was peace in my mind through patience. I decided the best thing to do was to choose an appropriate topic from Ajahn Brahm & this talk helped me. Thanks Ajahn.

    Very enlightening. I looked at other information on this topic and very short complicated and sick of hearing about road rage incidents instead of more inside into mindful patients and how to learn it, before people put you in a car and see how well you manage not becoming homicidal!! Thanks for gifted guidance.

    Reminds me of attempting to go to gig at Glastonbury, we got so far, starting chatting to some people, moved on, then met some other people, and started chatting to some other people and so on; hence, we missed the gig. I think its best to weigh up whether the point of a journey is not to arrive or not ? Depend whats on the agenda me thinks.

    I think the ecclesiastic power is just a system to control bikkhus like bureaucrat / government official. It has both good and bad side. But I'm sure many Vipassana Thai bikkhus don't cling to it.

    Compassion
    Is action to meet the need
    The need of whom you seek
    Who seeks you is something deep
    Release your needs, before their feet
    Empty what was thought of me
    Feel a sense of pride
    You count on me cuz i am the light
    You are too but scared to shine
    I am here and i will always be
    Bright for all those to see
    Yet when I’m all alone i wonder
    Where that glimmer is for me
    How come it seems I’ve got the strength
    To give with guarantee
    To those and those i ask for hands
    To hold my heart will flee
    Broke i feel robbed of love
    I spoke of tragedy
    In truth I’m only taking light
    And shading it with grief
    I am the sun beyond the leaves
    That gives the trees their reach
    Brilliant as i stand alone
    The Stars are at my feet
    -Calvin Pijlman

    ... Does Buddhism have a form of astrology?.

    • @SingeSabreClassic
      @SingeSabreClassic 3 года назад +1

      Buddhism is usually not involved with any form of divination, it doesn’t really line up with some of the teachings of letting go of desire for knowledge. I am a tarot reader myself and understand why this practice is in place.
      However Tibetan Buddhism has a regular practice of astrology practiced by specific monks. This probably does not come from their Buddhism but their roots in Bon tribal/shamanic religion.

    You seem very angry, upset, and in despair about it all. Is there no redemption or forgiveness in your view of life? Is there no hope? Can you try to give yourself a little love and kindness? If what you say is true, why go on? And yet you do, writing comments to videos and living a life. So, there is a reason to go on, which you demonstrate. Be calm, don't despair.

    I don't understand such strict restrictions (on food, TV... ) ? I mean i understand trying to stay away and have no desire for it, but to be forbidden from it completely forever?? + isn't the point to (still) have our free will ?? Does this also mean the rest of us that don't have all these restrictions 24/7 are 'sinners' and will never be able to achieve a complete state of stillness ??

    • @maratemptress2142
      @maratemptress2142 8 лет назад +1

      your looking at Buddhism through Western eyes there is no such thing as a sin in Buddhism the reason monks restrict themselves from these things is to transcend further than our sensual desire and our bodies and transcend into the power of the mind also those TV and music are distractions from their practices

    • @LunaLu-00
      @LunaLu-00 8 лет назад

      I understand that. My question was - does that mean that everybody that does not have these restrictions will NEVER achieve that state of mind than because we are constantly influenced by it all ??

    • @maratemptress2142
      @maratemptress2142 8 лет назад +1

      Luna L no but you won't have as intense practice as them and it's more likely for them to achieve it than you it's like who is more likely to get a job someone with a higher education or someone without but it doesn't mean it's impossible also they believe that if you don't accomplish it in this life you will accomplish it in the next
