    Great looking pens! Interesting variety between them all.
    Yes, the nib is the easiest way to date most Parker pens. The barrel imprint may have been worn off, making it the only way.
    It's interesting what is interesting to each person. Thanks for sharing your great looking pens!

      @OdE-ObjectosdeEscrita  2 года назад +1

      Thank you. These are great. And one of the reasons why I love Parker is this variety throughout its history.
      Even the nib... Often nibs were exchanged... But all the detective work is also fun.
      From all these, my favourites are the Maxima and the Slimfold.

    Great overview! The Duofold can be a confusing model because of the number of variations produced, but you've explained a lot of the confusion.
    Stef, of the Grandmia Pens channel, frequently recommends a (restored) Duofold as a daily writer, and I think this is probably good advice. My problem is that, of the many Duofolds advertised online, it's often difficult to determine which model you are looking at.
    Thanks again for a great video, and for the preceding American Duofold one.

    • @OdE-ObjectosdeEscrita
      @OdE-ObjectosdeEscrita  2 года назад +1

      Thank you. But I am no expert. I only could understand just the surface of this because of the amazing website parkerpens.net and the Parker Duofold book.
      Stef knows a lot more about these pens than I do. I think I really fell in love with the Maxima... Maybbe I will sell some of these in the future, keep the Slimfold, and search for a Maxima in each other colour - green, blue and black. It is a terrific writing instrument.
      Thank you for watching.

    So many models ! Slimfold is in accessible price range for me and I’ll get one..
    Incidentally I saw that “Parker 45 like” ‘New Sllimfold’ listed on a Seller’s website yesterday.. It is the most affordable and possibly least desirable of all the Duofold/Slimfold models..

    • @OdE-ObjectosdeEscrita
      @OdE-ObjectosdeEscrita  2 года назад +1

      Yes, slimfold is very good. But so small.... 😁
      The New Slimfold is much newer than the old UK Duofold and even newer than the 45. It is strange to have threaded cap and for being smaller than the 45. However, because it is not expensive, it may be a great way to get an affordable gold nib for a 45. This is true if I am correct that all the New Slimfold had gold nibs. Also, it doesn't really make that much difference to have a gold or a steel nib on a Parker 45...

    • @sathishrao7926
      @sathishrao7926 2 года назад +1

      @@OdE-ObjectosdeEscrita Surprisingly, ‘New Slimfold’ is priced higher than a 45 (at least here in India), perhaps owing to its ‘rarity’ (since it was discontinued 30 years earlier than 45, so it isn’t abundantly available !). I also read that it uses the same nib assembly as 45..

      @@sathishrao7926 Really? When i bought mine I didn't even know what they were I thoight they were variations of the 45.
      In that way it makes sense they are more expensive. They are more uncommon.

      @@OdE-ObjectosdeEscrita Yes.. A 45 ‘Flighter’ is usually available for 32USD while ‘New Slimfold’ is 52USD.. It’s also true that I’ve seen a ‘New Slimfold’ listed for the first time in over a year where as 45s have been available in plenty

    This was exactly the video I was waiting for after watching the wonderful one a week ago on your line up of flat top vintage Duo Folds. So, thanks in advance before commenting any further.
    The only two Duofolds I own are the modern ones: a black Duofold Cemtennial and a bright red (Big Red?) International. I love them both dearly. But I don’t use them too often.
    These rounded end pens are ones that I like and want just as I do the flat top models. These English models are quite classical in every way. The ones that I most prefer of the pens you showed here are the Slimfold, Senior and the Maxima.
    You know, Paulo, your two videos, especially this one, on the different Parker Duofold pens, automatically reminds me of my own collection of various Sheaffer Balance pens - Junior, Standard (full size), Oversize, Lady, Autograph, Balance II, etc..with rounded ends, different clip design, filling system, nibs, white dot/non-white dot. etc…
    I’d encourage you to also explore and perhaps acquire a few vintage Waterman and Conklin pens. Some truly classic pens to be had there. I have several of them. I’m going to have to get my first Wahl-Eversharp pen very soon. And one of these English Parker’s, too.

      I am so happy you enjoyed this video! It was fun to make but I had to make a lot of research. I think I have the same modern Centennial Duofold pens you have. Next monday therer will be another Duofold video where I will show my modern ones.
      The Maxima is just amazing. It ran out of ink now and I am cleaning it for the first time since I got it - I confess I got it and filled it even without cleaning it! - and I believe that it will look even better after it is clean.
      I understand how you find these videos to be related with your Sheaffer collection. When we admire one brand a lot we need to get the variations, the evolution, to enjoy all the little details that make a pen a special item...
      The problem here is that vintage Waterman and Conklin are not easy to find here in Europe. And nowadays, the international shipping costs and the custom taxes make it hard to purchase pens from outside European Union.

      @@OdE-ObjectosdeEscrita …I truly enjoyed it a lot. I watched it twice over. 🙂
      The Maxima appeals to me greatly. I like everything about the pen. It belongs in the super league of pens. The color makes it doubly attractive to me. If only somebody would find, buy and gift a Duofold Maxima to me. 😍
      Oh, I’m aware of the very different pricing of many pen models across countries and continents. And you are, of course, absolutely right about the international shipping & local duties/customs fees etc.. nowadays that make buying pens from abroad really discouraging.

    Thanks for a most interesting introduction to the Newhaven Duofolds; they are all sturdy, very well made and excellent writers. What more can you ask for? I have one of each size, and am working towards a completely black collection since the black and gold looks so quietly elegant.

    Hi Paulo, Good overview.The complexity of the different duofolds has always kept me from getting them. There are so many variants and how do I know which is which on auction sites with bad pictures. I have a nice little unused Slimfold from Denmark though. Where does these fit in the picture ? Is there a differens between the one you showed. :)

    • @OdE-ObjectosdeEscrita
      @OdE-ObjectosdeEscrita  2 года назад +1

      Thank you for watching. Yes, this is very, very complex. I think it is hard to keep track and properly organise a collection without the Parker Duofold book. And I agree. The auction sites have very bad photos. Sometimes there are details to know what we are looking at, such as nib engravings or size or engravings on the cap band. But most of the times it is very hard to know.
      And yes, there is all another world just about Danish and French Parker Duofold. I don't have any and never looked at them with attention.
