I’m going to suggest that you need to go to a car Dismantlers and get the sensor with the block connector still connected. Ask them to just cut the wires, it will make it much easier for refitting it 😉👍👍👍
Hi there! Great video I was just wondering though where do those wires come from? At 2:17 it looks like they're leading off of that cable loom (Large plug) I only ask because I have no reading atall on my scirocco 2.0 TDI and cannot find the sensor nor the wiring harness that should be leading to the sensor. Any help would be great thanks
The wires I worked on were coming from the engine ECU down the L.H side under the battery and out to the ambient air temperature sensor under the L.H.F headlight. Fingers crossed that will help you 🤞🤞
It was a Saturday & I don’t work Saturday. But when I was putting the car out on the road for the customer to collect. The check engine light cam on and I had to get it done before they arrived. The joys of being self employed 😂😂😂
All thanks to you Dave my man. Back to the old 12 am upload 😬. I just got board and felt like uploading something 😂😂 You were fast to watch it, fair play 🙏👍
No, that is more than likely a heater matrix leak. Or if water is leaking into the vehicle it can sometimes cause an increase in condensation levels all over the vehicle & not just the screen 🤔🤔
That is a little Mahle tablet that I got from Ryan’s Automotive in Ballywilliam, Co. Wexford. I don’t use it too much nowadays but it has its advantages & I updated it only last week, so it’s must still like it 😬😂😂
The customer was on route & I noticed check engine light on when I was pulling it out for them ( on a Saturday ). My mechanic didn’t think the ambient temperature sensor would illuminate the check engine light, panic 😱
@@nonah133 Yes it was the Ambient sensor, broken wire, found the broken wire & rewired it. After that it switched them off instantly. It's just an emergency measure the car has.
I have a 2010 volkswagen golf 2.5 the code it’s reading is p0071 for the ambient air temp. My cooling fans won’t turn off as well unless I clear the code and I will be good for the day. I had a new sensor put in all new wirings harness and connector to the sensor and it’s still reading 3v instead of 5v. They ended up tracing it to the cluster and found a fault within the cluster. I’m getting 1.8v at the ground wire when plugged in and it’s causing resistance at the ambient temp wiring. When unplugged everything is reading normal. Before I spend another $1,200 at volkswagen can anyone tell me if this sounds correct? I also had them put new fans and wiring work to them done and still wouldn’t shut off. My ac cut out as well when the code appeared.
Yes Paddy nearly 2000 now 💪💪 Not much on RUclips about ambient temperature sensor location on this model, fingers crossed it not being the exact fitment won’t cause any issues 😬😬
Ford components fitted on a vw??? How very dare you
I was backed up against the wall & needed a way out 😱😂😂😂
ow to change ambient sensor jetta sel 2017 I don't have a connector, it was lost in an accident. Can you help me? I have 4 cables instead of 2.

I have an 08 jetta reading -- is this a necessary fix? I live in California, i stay home mostly, just use it to go back and forth to work.
This is by no means a necessary repair, it could effect emissions output. And in my cause it turned on a engine management light 😬😬

Does this fault lead to condensation build up on windscreen?

215 degrees no wonder you were in your shorts Peter 😂 joking apart what a great work around and repair 👍
I’m getting too old now to care about getting the pins out if it’s warm, probably not a pretty sight 😂😂😂
Thanks Kevin 🙏
Good job sir 👍❤
Does anyone know the location of this sensor but for a 2019 VW Jetta rline
I’m not actually familiar with it but it has to be around the front bumper grill area. Did you do a google search??
@@kennedysgarage3281 indeed I did but there’s not much for that year make/model

I am having the same issue. I did find a video for a 2018 but the location it's showing is not the same for my car.
Hello Peter. What code reader are you using ?

A rapido adventure indeed, squire! 👌🏻

Before you changed ambient sensor were the coolant fans working at high speed as a safety measure or no? Thanks
The cooling fans were not running, I do see that with a coolant temperature sensor open circuit mostly 😉👍👍
Did you ever figure out what your issue was? Fans running at full blast and the only codes are relating to ambient sensor. Ambient sensor wires broke.
