- Tomorrow is November 4th, 2008; Election Day. In honor of the historic campaign of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, I created this slideshow/video to honor the progress of African-Americans. It is a video that details and shows our struggle and where we came from to what we have done and how far we have come as people. I hope you enjoy it!!! :)
Song: "When We Were Kings" by Brian McKnight and Diana King
This song should be the national anthem for black people all over the world.
I can listen to this song over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again because itbis that goood
I do
Most underrated song in history
there will never be another equal the glory that was.....ALI RIP.
It really is an awesome song; that's why I felt I HAD to make this video
He paved the way😎
You did a fantastic job!
I teach junior high English and will definitely be using this video during African-American History month!
Great song, great photos, great people. Thanks Kevin
When ever I think of Ali I try to never forget the tremendous costs he paid. He had paid dearly for each of his hard won victories inside and outside of the ring. He Bore those costs like a man. He accepted them as simply part of the costs of doing buisness. He didnt wallow in self pity. He Rejected pity from others. Those who knew him best, family and friends perhaps paid a higher price. Watching one they loved so very much take the blows. RIP Muhammad Ali , aka Cassius Marcellus Clay , The Greatest , The Louisville Lip , BROTHER. Blessings to all
We would leave the world remembering when we were kings 👑👑👑👸🏿✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿
Great song, great video, thanks from Milwaukee
Muhammad Ali, the greatest boxer who transcended boxing. An ambassador for peace. A true citizen of the world. RIP champ.
To the family of Muhammad Ali, his fans, and all those who loved him:
As-salam alaykum. May I convey to you and to the Ali family my heartfelt sorrow, devastation and loss at the passing of your father, who could only be described simply as he was, "The Greatest".
I've been a lifelong fan of Muhammad and he profoundly influenced, and helped shape, my character as I was growing up. His courage to stand up for his beliefs against the Vietnam war taught me to also defend the principles of right against injustice; his inspiring self confidence, even brash self praise, brought a smile of admiration to myself and so many others, displaying a dazzling pride at being an African-American at a time when discrimination was rife; and his faith; his leadership, among the muslim community of America helped strengthen my own faith.
He became a legendary leader for Islam in America and I have no doubt has been the greatest, best example and standard bearer for Islam that America has ever had, one that we so desperately needed now and in these recent years.
Truly, then, is his passing a huge loss for muslims everywhere and for America and American muslims in particular, as there is no one close to his amazing character and example that can take up the torch of truth with the power he did.
Still, though, I mourn him being taken from us, and lament Allah swt calling him back to himself, when we wish he would stay here with us because of his wonderful light and presence. I pray he is received well in heaven and that peace and consolation find you and your family in this difficult time.
I always thought that I'd have time to meet my hero and kept putting off my mission to meet him, saying to myself there's time; but I left it too late and now I grieve that I never got to shake his hand, and offer him my salams and best wishes, and to tell him how much he meant to me and affected my life. Ofcourse I hope to send those to him through my dua'as; still at least I hope there will be a chance to pray for him and honor him at his funeral prayers.
May Allah bless the noble soul of Muhammad Ali, a true champion in my life, and make his shining example one that is followed world wide, so that through his character and the kind of devotion to Islam as well as good that he had, the world might know how to follow, The Greatest.
totally love this song first heard it on Ali documentary "when we were kings"
Very positive and uplifting edit bro. respect
Thank you brotha! Glad you enjoyed it
I agree!! Great video! I had lunch with him in 1974, I was in 4 th grade. My dad, Ali and his manager in his gym in Chicago. My Dad was working for A&P grocery stores and they were talking about some promotions and merchandise. He was funny, witty and smart. A great man! Thanks from Milwaukee
Being African American I wish more of my lost brothers and sisters would see they come from royal history not slaves, or drug dealers, pimps, gang members but Kings and Queens I love races of people just wish my people would all wake up
Thanks so much for liking the video :)

This Song remembers me of everything that is passed in my life and was oh so good. And I'am proud that we will have now a man called Barack Obama as the President of the United States of America. I'll hope he brings good to the world. And for all the people that brought us so much joy in our lives. Thank you all!

WOW!! Thank you so much. That means a lot to me; to know that something I did is being displayed in a positive and empowering light. Once again; thank you!!
"When We Were Kings" Champions Forever_ Were Ali, Foreman, Frazier, Norton and Holmes.
We’re still kings. The question is…. When are we going to reclaim our kingdom

@SAMMYJS991 Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed it
I love this video…. would have loved also if brother Khalid Muhammad and Tupac were included in the video. Brother Khalid was unapologetically black and was ready to fight to the death for his ppl. My mount rushmore would be Muhammad Ali, Malcolm X, Khalid Muhammad, Marcus Garvey
@abbeyroadLfc Thank you very much! I just really love this song; it seemed so perfect for the video :-)
Malcom x
Marcus Garvey
I very much agree. Trust me, there were so many I wanted to add to this video; but in order for it to flow and mix well with the lyrics, I just couldn't include EVERYONE.
nice
@PurpleGurl1200 That's W.E.B. DuBois; intellectual, author, and founder of the NAACP
🤟
@UriosDerBaer That's Tommie Smith and John Carlos at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico. The fist raise is of course the symbol of "Black Power" and the Civil Rights Movement. They were raising their hands in opposition of American racism/segregation and to show that despite whites seeing blacks as inferior, they could excel in anything they tried.
@resident121 Well that's true; but she is the first African-American woman to be the United States Secretary of State. Not only that but she grew up in Montgomery; where she was close friends w/ the 4 young girls who were killed in the church bombing that Dr. King eulogized, which lead her family to be one of his largest supporters and a voice in the Civil Rights Movement.
So yes, some may dislike her; but in my view, she's a very important person in Black American history.
Love the song!!!
1:36 Whos is this?
@Kain1445 love that picture
@MrQadir88 Thank you very much!!
@DRAGON4EVA21 Thank you very much
🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀
For my friend Russell , who Love me .
@maureeses I definitely agree with you; Bernie Mac IS a comedy legend! But I didn't put Steve in the video just because he happened to be an accomplished comedian/actor; but because he also has had extraordinary success as a best-selling author and nationally televised radio show host as well. So I'm not saying Bernie wasn't great; it was just that Steve's had a broader influence.
lol, yea. Definitely! My college is funding a trip to take all us students up to Washington D.C. for the inaugration; but I'm gonna be going with my family.
THANKS EVERYONE FOR NO DISLIKE THIS.
😘🙏👍

Not all black people are bad, and black people don't have to be athletes or entertainers to be successful.
Ew Tiger Woods?!
Might want to remove Bill Cosby now.
