    If you don’t use it often, go with the powder over the liquid. When stored long term, the liquid eventually settles and separates and shaking it won’t reconstitute it. The powder lasts forever.

    When I got rid of my toxic non stick cookware and switched to stainless steele, I picked up BKF and I have loved it for years. I use it every few weeks to restore shine to my pots and pans, as well as to help with the occasional stubborn something that doesn't want to come out. I also use it on my corning bake ware to remove baked on stains once in a while. For both situations, I wash as normal, then sprinkle a little into or onto whatever it is, scrub carefully, and it looks brand new really quick. I always do an after wash to be sure it's all gone. Tfs!

    Awhile ago I cleaned my toilet with a store bought toilet bowl cleaner that had bleach. Needless to say, the blue dye stained my toilet (I will admit I did not read the label that well). I tried so many remedies to try and get rid of the stain (vinegar, rubbing alcohol, and even a pumice stone). Anyway, I remembered I had Bar Keepers Friend (which I usually only use for my tub) and I tried it. With a lot of elbow grease, the dye finally was removed! Absolutely love BKF! Did not work on my hard water stains and rings. Nothing at all works on it. I have used at least 8 different toilet cleaners including suggested ones. Too expensive to buy 3 different toilets. I have totally given up. Retired in Mexico and there are not a lot of different products available here.

    • @literatious308
      @literatious308 3 года назад

      @@gladysgrand7633 Try "cleaning vinegar", I poured about 8 ounces in toilet bowl & let it soak for a while with closed lid after wetting all areas.
      Scrub then you'll see if some areas need more time, so just let it sit longer. Don't let it dry!
      "cleaning vinegar " is 6% acidity versus 5% for regular white vinegar, so you could also use that.
      PS...My toilet is from the 1930's, I initially used pumice stone wetted with vinegar to gently abrade away the hard water calcium ring deposit.
      "Whink Rust Remover" is a liquid that is absolutely fantastic at quickly removing rust stains, it's safe for most surfaces & clothes.
      Use pumice first, then vinegar, then Whink if needed. Don't forget to use latex gloves!
      Pumice & vinegar are very inexpensive & are must have items for your all purpose cleaning arsenal.

      @@literatious308 Thank you for your suggestions, but I am of advanced age and kneeling on the floor is not an option. The vinegar you suggested I cannot find here as a lot of products are not available in my area of Mexico. Pumice stones are rocks here and not flat like in the states which would make it easier to use. As for keeping the area wet, because of the weather here, hot, most thing I spray on here dries almost immediately. Thank you for your kindness in answering my problem. I will keep looking for the cleaning vinegar but when I ask you it, they look at me like I am nuts. Thanks again. Stay safe.

    I first tried BKF on your recommendation probably a few years ago. I was constantly fighting with rust stains in my tub and shower. After I had watched one of your videos I decided to give it a try but didn't really have too much confidence that the product would work since I had tried so many things without great success. I was absolutely amazed and I have never looked back since! Cleaning the iron stain was once a very daunting task but after using the BKF more spray it has become almost effortless! I watched in amazement as it took away the stains pretty much on contact! There has been a couple of times when the store I usually buy it from was out so now I buy it by the case just to make sure it is always in my cleaning line up! Thank you for explaining more about this product because it cleared up questions I had about the difference between spray versus powder ect. I've used BKF for years. This has been a staple in the restoration industry forever and is where I was first introduced to this magical cleaning tool. It can get so many things clean it's really incredible. I use both the powder and the cream, tho I will say the cream is the more gentle of the pair and I use it more often! Love your channel Melissa and Chad! Thank you for making super helpful videos!!

    BKF is the ONLY product I have found that will clean the non-slip grid in my tub. About once a month I sprinkle it on the tub as soon as I get out of the shower, let it soak while I am dressing, then scrub it and rinse. It is amazing!

    great video - just had these very specific questions after watching:
    1) BKF warning label specifically says "do not ingest", yet we're supposed to use it on pots, pans, cooking utensils, and cutlery. How thoroughly do you have to rinse or clean the items after cleaning with BKF? Do we have to thoroughly hand wash these items with dish soap after the 'deep cleaning' with BKF? For the things that are dishwasher safe, is just running through a dishwasher once sufficient?
    Any tips or tricks for cleaning the BKF off of the items after using? When/how do we know it's safe to eat off/with?
    2) you mention using a sponge or scrubbing pad with BKF... what do we do with *that* sponge or pad after using with BKF? throw it away? keep it, rinse thoroughly, and only use again when using BKF? or can you rinse it or run through a dishwasher and then use on dishes and cutlery like any other sponge without worry (again thinking about the "do not ingest" warning)
    3) what "device" do you recommend for cleaning the bottom of pots and pans (both aluminum and SS) ? Sponge? REgular or Heavy DUty? Scouring pad? steel wool? magic eraser?
    . keep up the great work!

    • @cleanmyspace
      @cleanmyspace  3 года назад +2

      These are all really good questions. What’s important is that an item is rinsed after cleaning (with any product) and free of residue. You want it to feel squeaky clean and not reveal any streaks or clumps. The cleaning tool can be well-rinsed afterward until it runs clear. For the bottom of pots and pans you can start with non-scratch and some BKF and work your way up to a heavy duty sponge if needed. I hope that helps!

      I asked my friend who is an FDA chemist who does food safety research. She says you should wash the item well (not just rinse) after using Bar Keeper's Friend. I also designate one scrubbing sponge to use with BKF so I don't contaminate other dishes or utensils.

    Love this series. I have found new uses for BKF. I would like you to review CLR products, please. I use them to clean my showers and toilets, but there may be other cleaners that work better. We have well water and it is very hard, so we have lots of crusty gunk in our toilets and on our faucets. Many thanks.

      I’d like to research CLR too and do a deep dive on it. Good request!

    • @literatious308
      @literatious308 3 года назад

      CLR used to be much better but now I find pumice scouring stick wetted with vinegar tackles the tough old ring deposits quite well & using just vinegar to wipe down fixtures regularly keeps them from collecting harder spots.
      "Cleaning Vinegar" is 6% acidity vs. 5% in ordinary white vinegar so it works a bit faster, but either will work with some time. Never let it dry though, that redeposits the dissolved solids!
      Tip - leave vinegar soaked rag or paper towel on tough areas for longer soak times.

    I used it in the tub and was very careful and opened it as far away from my face as possible and sloooowwly but the dust it creates is so fine that I do believe irritated my eyes a tiny bit-not to the point of redness or pain just dry feeling. I’m not saying this to complain but rather advise caution when using the powder form. I had daily contacts in so I just threw em out but yeah might wanna use a face mask just when initially opening it or shaking some out 😷👩🏼‍🔬👨🏻‍🔬

    I was afraid to use the BKF powder on my copper sink. My son-n-law bought it when he Googled cleaning copper sinks.
    I didn't realize how much work it is to keep the copper clean. I tried to keep it shiny but it was so much work so I left the patina look. It turns green around the drain but the BKF takes it right out. Thank you for this video. I didn't realize they had so many products to choose from. If you have anymore hints on cleaning/keeping them clean please let me know! I have so many of your videos saved. Thank Melissa

    This was the miracle product that cleaned my glasstop stove. I tried every hack, every glasstop cleaner, nothing worked. Tried this stuff cuz my mom brought it over and suggested it.... lord it worked beautifully at getting 3 years of schmooze/grime off the cooktop.... we used the liquid with gentle scrubbing and we only now have a couple spots where an entire ring of buildup once sat. Also.. 3$ for the liquid bottle versus 6-7$ for a cooktop cleaner..... heck yes! Gimme those savings!
