To be fair, the major issue is how Bobby Petrino left the Atlanta Falcons (leaving the players without informing them he was leaving). People forget he took the Falcons under the impression he would be coaching Michael Vick, who got arrested for his dogfighting ring.
@@MafiaboysWorld Nah Urban was definitely worse. Petrino didn't have this many incidents back-to-back-to-back in one season.
Florida and OSU covered up Urban Meyer’s many violations.

This is all on the owner, he isn’t getting enough blame. Urban showed he had little integrity and poor morals before this job but yet he got it.

Who gaf how or when he got back to jacksonville did the players really want him to hold their hand? Has the media really checked on all the other coaches in the league to check how they flew back home?
Trevor at 22 has shown exceptional maturity, humility and mercy. He’s proven through such a harsh year his potential as a leader and example for his team, and he’s only 22! This young man is superior in many ways, not just physically but with his integrity!

Urban already showed he was a burnt out disgruntled employee. He had two great jobs and quit both under very weird circumstances. The Jags owner needs to get a lot of the blame here. I’m not seeing the media take him to task hard enough.
You can’t easily fire an owner; there hasn’t been much payoff going after them.
Urban Meyer was the NFL‘s biggest empty suit. What is tragic is that Ohio State has a professor that measures supervisor-pupil abuse. He discovered that NCAA athletes were suffering 2.5 times worse than many of the worst industries were abuse to workers is usually high. I wonder whom many of those athletes played for.
Not flying back with your team after a loss (whether it’s the Jaguars or not) is one of the worst things you can possibly do as a head coach

Caldwell also good he guided my Lions to two playoffs. the most success we had this century.
He went 9-7 one year...I don't think they had 9 wins all together since he left
I agree, Caldwell would bring some stability to the organization and a good 3 or 4 year fix until the Jags look for a long term guy to take over.

A year where some historic coaches has either resign or been fires. The Raiders head coach, now Urban Myers. Its opportunities that has went to waste. That's crazy
This just shows how corrupt college sports have become. This man was used to doing anything he wanted to anyone. Never mind if its right or moral or even legal in some cases. Physically assaulting players? Is it 1950? It wasn't right then either. But, the guy won football games and that's all that mattered to Ohio State and other colleges. Ohio State dhouldbe ashamed
Ohio State also had Woody Hayes, a school where winning is everything, integrity is nothing! Barry Switzer even claimed that for himself in his 1982 PBS interview, win at all cost, cheating is fine as long as you win.

I mean there have been so many swings and misses on that game i would think people would stop playing -- does anyone remember Mangenius ? that is how long that has been played - i dont know the final tally - but there are a LOT more misses than hits

@@l.rongardner2150 yeah that’s true, but that’s the point of an offensive coordinator. HC’s don’t really call plays in the NFL. They are there for motivation and they move the chess pieces. Kyle Shanahan and a few others are the only head coaches calling plays.

Here is why I would be opposed to a defensive Head Coach. Good Coordinators don't typically hang around very long because they get head coaching opportunities. Jacksonville needs a Head Coach who can help develop Trevor Lawrence, and give Trevor Lawrence so sense of stability.

Rob was so wrong. The reason why Urban got his contract because he has credentials on what he did in college. Not everybody would get the same money as Urban did unless you have come close to his credentials. Don't get me wrong, i'd love to see nfl players get contract in fully guarantees.

It amazes me how horrible josh McDaniels was as an HC and the fact that he backed out of a job before yet he gets the praises every single off season RELAX the man coordinated offense for the greatest HC in the history of football and the offense was quarterbacked by the greatest QB or maybe Greatest player to ever play the game

Best move for the owner is to (contemplate to eventually) move the team. Hiring Urban and signing Tebow were moves to appease the fanbase; somehow he felt compelled to allow them to happen (perhaps it has to do with him feeling perceived as a foreigner). If the team is to be reflective of the city and its people...with success (winning %) as its only north star, Jacksonville does not seem to be it.

In my view no NFL team should ever hire a college coach. NFL Head Coaches need to come up through the ranks. It's just two different worlds and I think the NFL has evolved so much in the last 20 years the league has left colleges behind.
I don’t know. There have been successful college/nfl coaches. Someone mentioned on Reddit is that commonality between them (Carroll, Johnson, Vermeil, Coryell, Green, Harbaugh) is that they either coached a college team in a large market and/or had NFL experience. Along with being liked by their players and still coaching at or near the time of their hiring. Not foolproof, but definitely a trend. Maybe that might be a possibility.

If they want their team to become good..They hire a defensive minded coach..And tell him to hire a specialist for the QB..That way the head coach can focus on laying the foundation and changing the culture from the defensive side..At the end of the day..Defense still wins Championships and Defense opens the door to consistency..If Trevor is who they think he is..Give him a good Defense and Offensive line..And the winning will start..Remember the Greatest QB ever..Had a defensive minded coach
