The NFL is a different league, these big time college coaches have all the best players coming to their colleges. With the salary cap it makes it way harder.
For about 15 or so years there have been 5 teams that have made the playoffs that weren’t in the playoffs the year before. The NFL is the easiest of the four major North American leagues to have a quick turnaround so it’s not that hard because that salary cap also means there’s a lot of talent on the market every year.
I wish Tebow and Alex Smith would voice their opinions on this. ESPN is letting all their analyst go at Meyer (rightfully so) but those two have said nothing.
Steve Spurrier's two seasons in the NFL seem like a dream in comparison, as the only problem there was an inability to adapt to the pro game. I never heard of Spurrier being abusive to players. Bobby Petrino and Lane Kiffin seem to be the frames of reference for Meyer as NFL disasters.
Buckeyes College Football fan & a Cincinnati Bengals fan here. I’ve always said Urban Myer can coach college football however he’s always been someone who has no ethics, morals or character his athletes arrested at Florida was absolutely insane, I cheered for him at Ohio State but couldn’t stand the fact the school hired him with his baggage that Jim Harbaugh also has. & everything he did at Jacksonville was awful, call his assistants losers, saying his players suck, kicking his kicker all that unacceptable & even worse was after a humiliating loss in Cincinnati when they had a huge lead you have the nerve to stay in Ohio your team flies home then we catch a woman grinding herself on him. Please give me a break Jacksonville was dumb for even hiring him.
meyer was in over his head from the start and definitely got some bad advice. shame it didn't work, but i'm not sure he wanted it. college is so much different from the nfl. most of these college coaches usually never work out in the nfl
In college, coaches are the face of the organization. They get the credit for the teams success, they can tell kids whatever they want and not be held accountable, and they’re dealing with kids. In the pros you cannot do that cuz you’re dealing with grown men. Urban Meyer saw himself above his players and assistant coaches which in the NFL you got to see everyone as equals.
There are a lot of comments wanting Louis as GM, but as a Bears fan I want Ted Phillips gone and Louis as president of football ops because he is connected and knows the game. Then he can hire his own GM and work together to find the right coach and mix for the team they want to build
The bottom line is: Meyer DIDN'T take this job because he wanted a challenge and to prove something to himself (& everyone else) - he took this job (yes, for the $ and...) to see "if he liked it". He didn't...
Both of them are not leader's and Shad wanted Trevor Lawrence over Fields and Mac Jones. Pros is different from college. He can flat out coach college. Not in the pros. Same goes for some players. Good in college but cannot cut it in the pros.
Curious to see his reaction. Must be a University of Florida thing. First Steve Spurrier in Tampa Bay, now Urban Meyer in Jacksonville. They just are not NFL material.
Men don't put their feet on other men. Coaches melt down and make mistakes, but it doesn't sound like Urban had any good will with anyone to what he did and be given the benefit of the doubt.
blah blah blah. everyone dumping gasoline on the fire now. show me video of any of these guys saying it wasn’t going to work out when Urban Meyer got hired. I’d give it maybe 8 months and Urban Meyer will be hired by ESPN as a college football analyst
I think the fact that someone like Urban could be so successful in college is actually an indictment of that system. Nobody should be forced to work with or for a guy like this. Would you tolerate someone who behaved like Urban at your job? His particular brand of fake horseshit works way better on college kids because they just don't have the experience to spot a walking sales pitch when they see one.
i was thinking something similar to you - if you listen to all these pundits talk - they all say the same thing - you can't treat pros like college players- . What is implied in that - is that it is OK to be abusive to college players - if you win - . That is probably the more important story underlining this whole thing

Where is the ENERGY from ALL OF THESE GUYS when it was reported.
“Tuesday” morning quarterbacks without the stones to speak out LIKE THIS in the moment.
You know coaches get guaranteed contracts; why can't team have a character guarantee in contracts. Allowing teams to fire coaches for cause without paying one more cent to them. It's fair.
Hopefully the players can keep the bus on the road the rest of the season. I m looking for them to actually do better now that he’s gone..
Whenever you see Bart on a segment where he can talk about them you know he’s going to say something funny
Coaches need to understand that rapport and building relationship are vital in any sport. He thought something else ! What else did he do in college !! But there many coaches who are trying to get in while he crapped his opportunity!!
Urban go run your bar and flirt with the young girls. That's where your heart is dude.
Myers was complaining about the draft 2 days before the draft with the number 1 pick ..then goes out & get a running Back 1st Rd ...bad hire
That story about Meyer kicking the kicker during the warmup of a preseason game was wild. I Hope jax gets a solid head coach and decent person in there that can clean up this mess
Why are you surprised..this is the culture of this country..so why wouldn't it be in the workplace..this happened all the time..John Gruden the other day..this guy today..come on man..
As a Jags fan I had high hopes. But we just cant ever get it right
Entire sports world explodes into Schadenfreude!
If Khan did a fraction of the vetting on Meyer the average franchise owner or GM does on PLAYERS, he would've smelled Meyer's stench miles away!
And people say "white" privilege doesn't exist. If Urban Meyer was black... Boy.
@@ecchen1 If he was black, they'd have covered it all up, made excuses, and blamed everyone else.
@@johnabbott257 wouldn't be hired
Yeah a lot of college guys don’t go to NFL and they’re smart for doing it. Two different games
got some bad advice? no he just acted like a bad person over and over...
@@kaelanbradford3664 ok?? that's like 2/20 former college coaches that were actually good. not great numbers...
@@kaelanbradford3664 one of the best coaches in history? lmao you sound like the clown here
Riddick should be a GM
the irony that he was rumored to be the jags GM with Urban XD
There are a lot of comments wanting Louis as GM, but as a Bears fan I want Ted Phillips gone and Louis as president of football ops because he is connected and knows the game. Then he can hire his own GM and work together to find the right coach and mix for the team they want to build
2021 had showed a lot of true colors to coaches and players 😂😂 from gruden to meyer
Urban got fired on his off day 🤣🤣🤣🤣😁👍🏾👏🏾
And yet, if the Jags were 9-4 or even 8-5, he'd still be there.
Louis Riddick better get a GM job somewhere
Jacksonville...
GM- Louis Riddick
HEAD COACH- Byron Leftwich
If Arians retires.
And then you can have him, he won't be much better about utilizing Robinson likely
The bottom line is: Meyer DIDN'T take this job because he wanted a challenge and to prove something to himself (& everyone else) - he took this job (yes, for the $ and...) to see "if he liked it".
He didn't...
Analytics reflect "Kick the Kicker" Plans are doomed to fail.
With Bevell the Jags will go undefeated! In your dreams.
Well stated, Louis Riddick. -----------------MJL< 75 y/o
People are pissed. We get it.
Finebaum called it and so did Bart.
I wasn't sleep.
It is unacceptable to engage in that behavior with college athletes. Wild.
Both of them are not leader's and Shad wanted Trevor Lawrence over Fields and Mac Jones. Shad is a terrible owner because in 2017 they was 4 minutes from being in their first SB, but the Refs and league didn't want a small market team in the SB for ratings. The next season they broke the team up smh Trevor Lawrence is not the one he's overrated and watch today against the Texans how he stinks it up and maybe the interm coach sit him and put C.J in then you will see it's Trevor not being accurate and making right decisions. This will be more excuses for Trevor bad play all year.
Say what you want, but the guy can flat out coach. Ask Utah, Florida, and Ohio St. They'll tell you if he can coach or not.
Pros is different from college. He can flat out coach college. Not in the pros. Same goes for some players. Good in college but cannot cut it in the pros.
CHRIS DOYLE😂😂😂😂
Pete Carol will be the new HC of the Jags next season 🔥
Sneakyyyy Pete!!!! Na he's going back to college lol idk
Nope.
Colin Cowherd will be so depressed about this - his GOOD FRIEND Urban. Hmmm.....
Curious to see his reaction. Must be a University of Florida thing. First Steve Spurrier in Tampa Bay, now Urban Meyer in Jacksonville. They just are not NFL material.
This was a sham from the beginning 🤦♂️. I told you all this back in March
You told us?
@@juggsandmagsss9397 lol 😂 I was speaking metaphorically
The 30 for 30 on this will not be boring lol
Urban Meyer is a coaching legend. This segment is completely biased. Urban Meyer is a first ballot hall of fame coach. These guys are simply hating.
Let's hear it from Tim Tebow 😆
Urban to Jackson state as O coordinator 🤷🏿♂️❤️
Men don't put their feet on other men. Coaches melt down and make mistakes, but it doesn't sound like Urban had any good will with anyone to what he did and be given the benefit of the doubt.
Bullies know who and who not to bully. He chose the right one cuz he ALREADY KNEW WHO NOT TO Put his foot on!!!
Terrible ownership as well.
I feel bad for there Lawrence he got worst since being top pick out of college.
Urban can now open up his own strip club. For an extra $50.00 bucks you get to kick the help
blah blah blah. everyone dumping gasoline on the fire now. show me video of any of these guys saying it wasn’t going to work out when Urban Meyer got hired. I’d give it maybe 8 months and Urban Meyer will be hired by ESPN as a college football analyst
Eric benemy, Brian Leftwich,
MAN I WANT WHAT HE WAS SMOKING! IM TIRED OF SMOKING ZAA😂
Now Tebow can come back and play tailback
Personal foul ,roughing the kicker, Head coach Urban Meyer 👎
Mad respect for him,
when he was with the Buckeyes,, but he lost all of it.
