One of my favorite recurring Redbar bits is when he rags on Joe for crowning himself a father figure to all other comics because he’s the richest one while neglecting his actual children who may not even be real.
I remember liking Newsradio in the late 90’s/early 2000’s. So I gave Rogan’s standup a chance when I accidentally caught it a few years later. He was absolutely tanking and dying at some event with funny comedians. He saved himself by ripping on Carlos Mencia, winning back over the crowd by calling him a joke thief. It was kind of a pathetic way to save himself. He’s a good UFC commentator and was a decent host on some of those other forgettable shows he did in the late aughts/early teens. That’s it. I’ll give it to him: he’s an example how someone dreadfully mediocre can become really successful if they constantly grind, say yes to absolutely everything and everyone on their way up, then appropriately gatekeep and hold just enough fake-edgy but truly en vogue opinions once they’ve made it

He knows when to let people speak, asks good/smart questions (even when talking to scientists). His comedy is pretty mediocre but i can see why his podcast got so popular. Hes def on a downwards spiral RN tho.

Honest question for whoever watches this, are any of you even comedy fans? This "Redbar" guy keeps auto playing on my RUclips and I'm blown away at how much he seems to despise literally every comic dead or alive. It would be one thing if he was a successful comedian making fun of others, but he doesn't ever tell jokes or try to be funny, he just talks about how bad every comedian is. This guy's content has the same energy as Ben Shapiro reading the lyrics to WAP and asserting that hip hop isnt music....
