The Kaylons all along we’re trying to make a practical joke! “These biologicals have centuries of literature where AI’s decide to kill them all.” They also have clarified their humor with statements such as “wouldn’t it be funny if that happened.” We will begin a genociadal war with the organics and halt it at the appropriate point to say ‘Ha Ha, got you.’ They will find it hilarious.”
That leg joke gets even funnier in the next episode when Malloy's new leg gets stabbed by a Krill soldier. Also, I do like the Kaylon's later appearence more than the season 1 look.
