Just How Much Difference Does A High Torque Starter Motor Make??...

In todays video we fit a new high torque starter motor to the car and look at how much increased cranking speed we get from it.
It makes a huge difference and is a very worthwhile modification to help your big Healey start first time every time.

The only thing I would worry about then is the flywheel or flexplate taking damage from the very high stress lol

I think I’ll be doing this even though my starter is in good shape. I had to replace my throw out gear and flywheel because of bunged up teeth that caused the starter to get locked into place at times. Don’t want to deal with that headache again. 66 MGB.

Not much of a comparison is it? No oil pressure readings on the old tired, direct drive, starter motor. Nice new GEARED starter motor, of course it's going to work better. Like comparing apples and pears?

However a spot on engine will inevitably start on the first kicks with the original motor .

Uses solenoid only a few amps.
