I’ve actually only just bought this car today for doing the Le Man 700PP 30 mins. I’m actually really surprised by it. The brakes are fantastic. Its not the quickest as the engine needs to take a hit to get it to 700PP but its so easy to use! It was made for this race and it shows.
The format you have here is bloody excellent mate. Pretty much what I do at home but no where near the detail. I just do it by eye lol 😂 but lots of testing with all the cars. It’s so good to see it all documented like that. I (at least) really appreciate the time and effort you are putting in to make this type of content. It’s time consuming to say the least. I’ve noticed recently that not too many cars are liking the over rev. Also noticing better performance for most cars changing gear 2-500rpm before redline. Maybe PD have tweaked the engine physics 🤷🏻♂️. Keep ‘em comin. I’m lovin it. 👍🏼👍🏼
There are two lm spec ii cars. a test and a race car. I forget but one of them is much slower at the top end of the gearing. What I was not aware of though, is they actually put the supercharger into the car. In GTS, they made the car work as if it had a turbo instead of supercharger. How does this look? Well a turbo likes rpms. The higher the better. Most turbos have an rpm range that they work in because the turbo has to spool up. Anti Lag units can lower the bottom rpm range but usually at idle, i.e. while shifting, the waste gate dumps and the turbo has to respool. Superchargers were originally designed for airplanes in WW2. They were designed to compress high altitude air enough to keep the petrol fueled engines in enough O2 to burn fuel. Why is this different from turbo? There is no spool up. Superchargers are belt driven, usually, so as long as the engine is turning, the supercharger is compressing. At low rpms, the supercharger can usually out perform the turbo. If you remember in GTS, the Ford GT got it's best performance by revving the crap out of it. If the car is performing better in GT7 at low rpms, that says to me, they got a much better supercharger model and are not faking supercharger by giving it the same characteristics as a turbo, i.e. making you rev the nuts off the engine. Now, if they will just fix Dodge and Chevy. The drive trains are completely screwed up. The Dodge is supposed to be NA V10 while the Corvette uses a supercharged V8. They do get great power at low rpms, but cutting the tach in half for shifting as the norm means the cars are topping out well before their power band should.
It's at this moment I realised I f***ed up. I never realised you short shift this car, I always thought I just rev it like a mad man. I must get to the rig as soon as possable and try this
Not sure 3rd was best gear for forest/bentley corner, obviously does struggle with understeer and has enough low end power, but might not help as it has that lower end grunt to power through and it's downhill anyway, so 2nd gear oversteer would be less of an issue downhill. Tire wear test seems quite representative for actual practical tire wear experience, but it is quite concerning how fast rears wear out for mr's, obviously going to be towards the rear as fronts don't particularly scrub, but it's not like rears would need much traction at full speed on an oval, guess it shows engine placement is the dominant factor and might show weight transfer problem
One thing I've always wondered is when PD do the "BOP"!! or any update do they alter any of the car settings ?, like Aero, springs or even gear settings ? as well as power and / or weight alterations ? And another annoying thing is why don't PD publish any BOP alterations like they used to ? Instead people having to refer to a third party website for this info which not everyone is aware of nor is always clear, although the work gone into that is appreciated ofc, still PD should publish car performance alterations so you're better informed when choosing a manufacturer. Great work to test the cars, but I feel that before you get through a significant amount of them, PD will inevitably change the BoP, rendering all this info as useless. It's Sod's Law. 🤷
